  2. hey people, went to the nurburgring in Germany this weekend just passed, and let me tell you............ it was F***ING GRRRRRRREEEEEAAAT!!!!!!!!!!! drove all the way there, slight problem at Germany, but Luke at "z centre" give me some very helpful advise on the phone, and got it sorted. spent all day at the ring on Sunday, brilliant weather, great B&B, lots of track closures, but got 4 good laps in. drove all the way home, with a burn with a Ferrari marinello, and yes he pooped his pants!! (did not want to look bad against an old, but fast zed!!!) 2 pics below to look at, also am on "ben love joy" web site, (from google search) click webcam, (under photos) then click "8200rpm.com site" which is underlined, then, click day time: Sunday 13.07.08 at 09.27am, picture of my 300 going to the barrier onto the ring. gonna do this next summer, anyone interested i will post nearer the time with prices. (best thing i have ever done!!!!) cheers all, Alan. got more pics, but will not upload!?!?!
  3. got them on my 300 buddy......... and boy it does rattle the car a bit even on the softest setting. great on the track. but i love 'em!!! alan
  4. hey leigh i have ordered a pair of these "godspeed" smic from the states e-bay, should be here any day now. to me they look great value for money. am going to adapt the dcts to fit over the whole surface. i think i am pushing around 400 bhp, so these seem fine imho. alan.
  5. i remember "krsmayo" telling me at a meet at birchangar that the evo 8 calipers are one of the best upgrades for the 300, apart from going for the full "8-pot k-sport jobbies" alan
  6. hi trance the biggest you can get is "evo 8" calipers or "r33" skyline calipers to fit your 300, with re-locating brackets. (krsmayo on this forum has done this with the evo set up). or you can get the "k-sport 8 pot" calipers which is just short of £1000 HTH alan
  7. hi alex i had the same problem with my 300. checked every aspect of the car, all bushes, all rods, all control arms, etc......... turned out to be the wheel balancing!!!!!!!!!! only a few grams out, got them done and it was fine. was scratching my head for weeks!!!!!! check the wheel balance with a good company. alan
  8. just got a set of these sm ic's "godspeed" good value for money. will fit them over the next few weeks, let you know how they perform alan
  9. hey mantav whats the price difference with just piston and rings, compared to complete rebuild. dont want to spend tooooo much money that i have not got, lol. cheers alan
  10. if i replace the pistons and rings, do i need any thing else? is it worth getting a complete gasket set or just the ones i need? cheers people alan
  11. if i go down the road of replacing my pistons and rings with wiseco forged ones, what other bits will i need to complete this job? also, do i need to pull the engine out for this? cheers alan
  12. just done a wet test on the 2 low cylinders, both came back at 138. originally were 132. does this confrim anything? cheers alan
  13. hey uno that happened to me, my hks filter started to break up and stick to the maf sensor, thus cutting power to the engine for a split second. alan
  14. hey legrath no, forgot to do the wet test. will check to see if i get smoke from the dipstick on oil cap alan edit: no smoke from the dipstick and no smoke from the oil cap with the engine running.
  15. i had the problem you referred to about struggling at low revs. changed my ptu series I to a series II and cured the problem. alan.
  16. i have just done a comp test and figures are: 148 148 152 132 162 132 "front of car" started it up after and, yes puffed some smoke. also i have noticed that the dipstick is being pushed out, but only ver slightly. alan
  17. hey mrogers what work did you have to get done when you dropped the 2 cylinders? did it cost much to repair/replace? cheers mate, alan. p.s. doing a comp test in a few mins, will let you know the results.
  18. sounds good to me!!! let me know if it made a difference, as i do not want to change the stem seals then have to pull the engine to change the tub seals. want to get it right first time. cheers mate alan
  19. hey fry i thought that when the tub seals are on the way out, it smokes through the complete range (under boost-pushing the oil through and vacuum-sucking the oil through) of revs. also its been de-catted (no back pressure) cheers alan
  20. hey jim so, i do a comp test on 1 cylinder if its low take out the tester, add some oil into the pot, replace the tester and spin it over again to see any difference. is that correct? cheers alan
  21. hey dunk on start up after leaving it overnight, there is no smoke, not even a puff. going to do a comp test tomorrow, will let you know the outcome cheers alan
  22. hey znut am going to do a compression test later or tomorrow, will this confirm stem seals? cheers alan
  23. It was happening before i took it to them, i thought the same as you, change the pcv valves and it might cure the problem, but it did not. Cheers, Alan.
  24. Hey snowy, Had them changed at Zworld about 3 weeks ago. Cheers, Alan.
  25. Hey murt, going through the gears, hard or soft, i get no smoke at all, which leads me to think that the tubs and tub seals are fine. No smoke when i stop either. Must be engine related i think. Cheers, Alan.
