  1. mine fold in and out ok but wobble like hell. Any speed over about 60 and they flap about. Anyone else had this problem and fettled it? David
  2. good question, still need one myself. I was pointed in the direction of MJP for a good price. They wanted ~150 quid if I remeber correctly so any advance on that would be good!
  3. Anyone out there driving the silver zed through tynemouth on Saturday evening? First time I have enountered another one on the road since I got mine! :)
  4. I was along at PPS yesterday have a long chat with Peter about options for mine. He said he wished I'd seen this one in the flesh before it was collected. Still, looks fantastic in the photos Peter, I think we may meet again very soon...... David
  5. you know, I was blissfully unaware of the existence of these keys until I saw this post ....and now I need one soooo badly!!! :D
  6. ok, cheers folks. I tend to agree, a new one is the best way forward - time to start saving my pennies again! Think I will attempt to do it without removing the dash. Can always remove the dash if I have any problems I guess!
  7. This is just out of curiosity really as I will be quite happy if I can just keep my Zed running happily and get the heating fixed  but is there anywhere that explains what all this stage I, II, III etc business means? Dave
  8. Elmo, May be worth trying the people I spoke to in Newcastle... Advanced Radiators Ltd Would be interested to see what they have to say about yours before I start pulling mine apart! You think you will be able to re-fit without taking the dash out? I understand that when they are bought new they come with the pipes attached. I'm a bit concerned about getting the seal good after these have been dismantled David
  9. just spoken to a local company (newcastle) called Advanced Radiators Ltd. They seem confident that they will be able to repair, re-core or replace for somewhere between £20 - £70 but they will need to see it first. May as well let them have a look - I can't aford to replace with new at the moment. Think I will shop around for new just so I know what I am comparing with. David
  10. Well, got the carpets clean anyway. Lots of rusty muck came out when I cleaned then. Impressed by the carpet in the Zed, dry as a bone underneath :) Anyone know if its possible to get a heater matrix re-cored? If so, any idea of cost and recommended suppliers?
  11. I had similar noises from mine at the same time as my heater matrix failed - also loosing a lot of coolant. Isn't that where the expansion tanks is?
  12. Thanks James, Just knew it wasn't going to be a nice easy job! At that sort of price I think it will have to be a DIY job. Think I will see if I can borrow a VAX to suck up some of this water. Might speed up the drying process. Think the big shag-pile mats are going to take weeks to dry!! David
  13. Full of the joys of a brand new MOT certificate I took my Zed out for a spin this morning. While crusing along I felt a strange warm wet sensation in left shoe. Glanced down to see rusty brown water poring into drivers foot well  Moments later I'm treated to steam gushing from dashboard and bonnet. To cut a long story short, AA man confirmed my suspicions of heater matrix failure and has by-passed it. So I'm back on the road but with a lot of work to do. Any advice on repairing/replacing heater matrix - how much is this sort of thing going to cost. I've just been looking at the 'how to' to replace without removing dash. Has anyone tried this? Is removing dash easier? I've got a car to dry out and clean up now - any advice on that? Is the leak likely to have caused any other damage that I should be checking out? Cheers folks David
  14. hmmm, I did to move it into position while I tightened it up but there wasn't enough play to correct the problem. Think I will have to try Andy's suggestion about loosening the bumper a bit. Good to know I'm not alone! Cheers folks
  15. I guess this sounds like a real minor niggle but I notice it every time I look at my car now - also seen it on some other zeds so I guess it may be quite common. The bonnet close line with the panel between the headlamps is uneven. I have taken the panel out and refitted it. That didn't seem to make any difference although the rubber grommets were a bit perished. I'm can't see the signs of any accident repairs in that area. Anyone have any idea how this can happen? Is there anyway this can be adjusted? Cheers David
  16. that does look good! David
  17. saw this how-to, might help... http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/tech/defroster/dashboard.htm Need to do it to mine at some point. How much did the interior re-trim cost?
  18. been trying to sort out a problem with brake squeal on my '90 import N/A. I have taken pads out and replaced them having lubed with some copaslip but still have the problem. Ive just been searching old postings on this forum and have seen shims mentioned. I assume these are the thin vented plates behind the pads? Mine seem to be corroded with the paint or coating flaking off in places. Is it possible that this could be my problem? If so, where can I get replacements and how much? Cheers David
  19. Cheers folks. Looks like another job to add to the list!
  20. How often should it be changed and is it any easy enough DIY job?
  21. I’ve read a couple of times about early Zeds having dodgy automatic gearboxes (In a buyers guide and also mentioned in a couple of posts in this forum). I just know I’m going to regret saying this but mine 90 Jap import NA is running fine. What is the problem with them? What should I be looking out for? Any preventative maintenance I can be doing?
  22. My Jap import NA has some rather nice 17” split rim alloys on it. Unfortunately they are starting to show their age a bit now. Is it possible to refurbish them and does anyone know of any companies (ideally in the north east) that do this sort of work? Also any idea of the cost involved? Damage is mostly light curbing and general old age!
  23. Resurrecting an old thread here but I don't suppose any of you folks with these lovely after market wheels has the wheel centre badge from their old stock ones going spare? Can provide it with a good home!
  24. Seaham! That's fantastic news! I've got the same problem and I work in Peterlee, Co. Durham! :) I need to get a new rear spoiler fitted. I assume they would be the people to see about that too?
  25. thanks guys. Think a visit to halfords on the way back from work is in order. David
