If its a metal up and over door, i would rig it to the electric supply, the minute they touch it, big big shock. At the end of the day, its not supposed to be legal, but neither is sitting there with a baseball bat. They will think twice about toughing the garage again

If its bulbs, then easy to convert, you need to know what types, ie T10, T5 If they are already smd leds they can be changed, but are a pain in the ass, they are so small, but i think only newer cars have smds. PaulC should be able to get the info I had a look on the merc E class forum, pretty crap for decent info but they say the main dash lights are 194, which is the 501 same as ours and side lights Basically anything with a bulb can be changed to an led. Only drawbacks, leds are directional, a filament bulb is pretty much a 180deg light, so it depends on how they are lit from behind. We get dead spots on ours if just replacing the 4 501 bulbs in the back of the dash, so extra leds or strips need to be added to give a better coverage.

Looking nice stu, did you have any clearance problems with the back boxes on the rear valance. I have the same one and they are knocking and resting on the rear valance, im thinking about cutting some of the bottom off the valance, but may end up losing the symmetry of the shape underneath. Graham

Universal one do the trick, less than a tenner each.

Do you mean you are after the distortion sound or the chorus clean sound. You can get an natural overdrive from your amp by turning the post gain up full and the pre gain right down. It overdrives the preamp to give an overdrive, distorted sound. If you want the sustain and distortion with delays, you will need a multi effects unit. You can get some cheap multieffects, now like the zoom, boss units etc. I use a Boss GT6 have had it for years, has everything but the kitchen sink, effects wise that you could ever need. HTH

Many thanks, it will be able to be wired to the ashtray light, so not too bad for wiring, ive used smd leds are very small so wont interfere with the fitment in the console and should be enough glow to see the switches at night, obviously look brighter in the pics, head on.

I have been having a play and have managed a way of lighting the mirror controls, i will keep you in suspense for a few hours before i put up pics as my camera is charging :thumbup: I will do a write up also if anyone wants to give this a go for themselves and if not you can send your mirror switch to me to do for you.
