  1. It differently was the perfect well for us to honor him. Unfortunately I have only seen this member bring his Z to a couple of events and he doesn't post much on the forums. Apparently his wheels were a little bit of a talking point on the cruise as he used a lime green accent strip to define the wheels and it did improve the overall look quite nicely.
  2. It was a fitting event for a member who would help anyone in need and would ask for nothing in return. He was the first member I ever met from the aus300zx forums and was the kind of guy who would make funny jokes and lighten the mood and did I lot for the forums. It was a great day for cruising and we all believe he had a hand in it for us. I think it would be great for you guys to post events on our forums and share the Z love around the globe. I have posted this on the US forums as well. - - - Updated - - - thanks mate, it was my pleasure.
  3. Couldn't help get a nice updated shot of my 2kspec Replica Z, so proud After Lunch, we headed off for some twisty country roads and some spirited driving. Me being the nanny driver I am, I found it hard to keep up with the more adventurous drivers in-front of me who were leading the pack, but thankfully my OEM TT adjustable suspension helped me keep a fast pace through the twisties and kept me with the pack. We stopped after the twisties to let the the rear pack catch up to the front pack. All the neighbors in the street came out taking photos of all the Z's and that is why I love these cars so much. We continued on our way and after driving through some long country highway roads we finally arrived at the Flying Tarts Bakery for a breather and some snacks and drinks, along with abit of socializing time between the attendees. From there we headed back to Watsonia Train Station and traveled along some of the scariest and narrowest twistie roads I've ever driven on. I was glad when we finally made it back to suburbia and the roads were not so narrow. LOL After arriving back in the Watsonia car park one of the members did a small burnout from what I've heard and then we ended up with 4-5 police cars making an appearance and keeping a watchful eye on us. We did do a group photoshoot with everyone who attended today at the end of the cruise but I unfortunately didn't take any photos of that and you will need to check they out on the aus300zx forums. Here is the thread link: Doug Memorial Cruise 2014[/CENT
  4. By 9:30am we had reached the peak attendance for the event and I think we counted between 25-28 cars and this number could possibly rival the famous GOR cruise's attendance number record. After a short briefing to everyone from the cruise organiser about the planned cruise route, we then left Watsonia for our first destination and with such a large group of Z's it was a struggle to even get out of the car park A couple of shots as we cruised to towards Yea. After some very long drive through some of Victoria's scenic country side we landed in the small town of Yea, where we got to stretch our legs and get some food and drinks for lunch. Again we were able to claim the car park as our own Z haven.
  5. Hey everyone, we recently held a Z cruise in Victoria to honor a very well known aus300zx forum member who passed away earlier this year. The cruise was held on the same day as the members birthday so it was fitting the Victoria members band together on what would have been his 65th birthday to celebrate and enjoy our Z cars the way he would have done himself and wanted us all to do ourselves as well. Ok so here is how the day all unfolded; The cruise was to start at the Watsonia Train Station Car park at 9am Sunday morning. Being one of the first to make it to the meeting point it didn't take very long to have a sea of Z's flowing into the car park and filling all of the parking spots. One of the crowds favorites on the day The battle for who has the shiniest engine bay
  6. Better yet join the discussion on the aus300zx forums:laugh: Which year is the best?
  7. Well he wants the proper Nissan fast terminology to be used so for example 93/07 98/10 etc etc. I then asked him so why do u use PTU and CAS why are you using Power Transistor Unit and Crank Angle Sensor or arguing with people when they abbreviate terms and so far he has said nothing.
  8. LOL this comment was golden for me funky, to me he is just a little prick thinking he knows better but unwilling to adopt to a system that I think makes perfect sense and is super easy to understand. I'm glad to know there are people out like yourself who believe the same as I do and think this system is perfectly fine even though its not an official term used by Nissan.
  9. Well I try gary but like you said can't please everyone. I expect some negative responses from my Z's build because why would you spend $40k on a Z32 making it OEM when you could made it a super powerful racing TT machine, whch seems to be the norm on the aussie forums these days. But I prefer OEM and went out of my way to make the best OEM restored relicia series 6 Z32 anyone has ever seen. Hopefully the shear amount of work I have done will quill the nah Sayers.
  10. Thanks for the response guys, yeah I am not sure why he attacks me for using the term series and as I am developing a massive build thread for my Z's 2kspec transformation for you guys to see and read about I just want to make sure I wasn't going to create negative responses and feedback from member who complain about this system which I find super easy to understand. The US guys are mostly for it but a couple don't think its correct sayng just say the year as that's more accurate but I have explained that just because you say I have a 93 model Z doesn't mean it has the 93+ model changes to it as the series 2 Z32 stopped in '93/09 and so if you Z was produced after '93/09 it is a series 3 so its easy to understand for me. We aussies are easy going people this guys is just one that seems to get pissed off when someone references the term series. He is not abad guys and is always helping members with part number and chassis information when they are posted on the forums but yeah this is the second time he has argued with me about the term series which I tried to use 2kspec and series 6 so I was not adding any confusion to my explanation but he went off calling it a system that makes everyone dumber using it. So he called me dumb in a way.
  11. exactly what I think but this member thinks this when using the term series I just want to make sure I'm not the only one who finds the term series as simple and easy to understand.
  12. Hey guys, I am developing a massive build thread for my Z project and I have been using the term series as a way of describing in a simple easy manner the difference in year ranges between model changes and parts. I adopted the system from this website http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm A member on the AUS forums is arguing with me saying its making the community dumber by using the term series, as it is not an official term used by Nissan in the Z32 service manuals etc etc. I am curious to know what people think about this system and if it is ok to use when explaining development changes for the Z32.
  13. Hey guys, got a bit of a funny question to ask as I brought a set of rear TT wheels from Japan a couple of years ago and it seems my JDM OEM center caps don't fit in the TT wheels. I have done some measuring and it appears the hole in the wheels for the center caps is only 44.7 mm wide. My oem center caps are 54 mm wide. Now I did some researching and found on a US parts website that they listed a smaller sized cap at 44.7 mm but it is now discontinued from Nissan as according to their information only the 90 model TT wheels had these smaller caps. I've tried asking the question on the US forums but no one seems to know anything about these smaller sized caps and I'm wondering if maybe my TT wheels might be UKDM spec and that's why the caps are smaller as I don't know if you guys got special rear wheels from the factory. Can anyone shed some light on this matter for me? I am trying to source a pair to finish off my wheels but as you can tell I can't find anything on the net about them.
  14. So guys my idle/poor running problems have been fixed and it is all thanks to a brand new OEM air flow sensor:). So to further help prove reference material to the community for assistance to another Z owner who may come across this problem, here are my results before and after the install of the new AFM. First thing i did was data log my Z's current sensor values from Conzult with my original AFM still installed on the car. As you can see my idle/shuttering problems hasn't changed much since this whole thing began. With my base data now recorded, I removed the old AFM sensor from the Z and took some comparison photos of the old and new AFM sensors. I then installed the new AFM sensor onto the car and now the moment of truth. Success, straight away the car felt more stable and the idle was constant and steady. I checked for error codes but found none which was good and let the car idle for a few minutes My 02 sensors were reading fluctuating volts again which was another good sign and the shuttering had all but disappeared. I checked the main signals screen to noticed no massive drops in base idle when switching to the main signals which previously it would drop 100 rpm instantly. And finally when the car had reached the optimal temperature setting to test the 02 sensors they began oscillating as per normal when revving the car to 2000 rpm. As you can imagine I was wrapped to see these results and as I had been told by the UK forums I have to now reset my base idle and I did just that. I reset my base idle to dead center at 850 rpm and the car is now purring like a kitten again:D. I have done a few test drives and did a big 40 min highway drive to my parents in laws place and the Z didn't miss a beat.:zlove: I would like to thank everyone who offered advice and spare parts to help me solve my idle problem. This community is a great place with a great bunch of people.:zlove:

  16. thanks santa, I replaced my fuel pump module in 2012 with a 95 model module just for the hell of it. I still have my old module so I will try and replace it and see if it changes anything. Currently I have purchased a brand new maf sensor from Z1 motorsports but they haven't sent it to me yet and its been a week:(.
  17. You sir are a legend. Thanks for the tip on the idle adjustment. Ill make sure to readjust the idle when i install the new maf. You have helped me alot with ur afldvice on this.
  18. Thanks groover, very much appreciated. All my data points to a dead MAF sensor. Ill look into getting another MAF and hopefully that solve my erratic idle problem for good. Yes I'm aware that being in limp mode means I wont be able to go above 2500 rpm but luckily for me my job is only 5 minutes down the road. I can always reconnect the MAF sensor and just drive it with the erratic idle as well.
  19. Hey guys, I need some advice on whether or not I'm looking at a dead MAF sensor. I've been having erratic idle and stalling problems for the last 2 months and Today I have tried to record my problem via Conzult to show what my sensors are reading to help give me a clue as to whats wrong with my Z. In the last few days my Z has been stalling constantly when at low revs. It also has a hard time starting in the mornings when the engine is cold. I took this initial video of the cars start up routine so you can see what I'm talking about. Now with Conzult, I needed to press on the accelerator to stop the car from stalling a few times. My currently thinking is I either have a fuel starvation problem or an air starvation problem. I did some diggin on the net last night and I found a video of another 300zx owner who was having almost the same problem I am having and he solved it by replacing his MAF. So today my first point of call is to check whether my MAF sensor is dirty and if so clean it with some contact cleaner. After removing the nose panel I pulled the MAF harness connector and it looked like this; The MAF connector looked like so; So far the connectors look good, no corrosion that I can see and no need for cleaning. So I took the Air filter box out completely and then removed the MAF sensor and checked it. I'm pretty sure the sensor looks perfectly fine and doesn't appear to be dirty in any way. I gave the unit a wipe down but I didn't want to spray the sensor as it didn't look like it needed it. Before I put the air filter box back onto the car I first needed to clean the inside of the air filter box as it appears more of the air filter oil has gather in the lower sections of the air box:(. I thoroughly wiped the area down making sure there was not a speck of oil left and I'm considering going back to the OEM dry paper type of air filter now considering the amount of oil that is leaking from these K&N filters. I reinstalled the air filter box back on the car and I decided I would try and see if the Z starts without the MAF sensor connected. To my amazement it did and guess what it was holding idle and my 02 sensors were reading for a change. I then tested what would happen if I suddenly connected the MAF sensor in while the car was running. This is what happened I again tested the car with the MAF sensor disconnected but I used ECUtalk this time and from what I can see the car is in limp mode and wont rev above 1600 rpm in park. I took the Z for a short drive around my block and the car wont rev above 2500 rpm, but it was driving alot more smoothly and there was no shuttering or drops in idle when coasting. From the information I've shown does it appear my MAF is dead??
  20. Thanks for all tue advice guys. I will be calling the repair shop and im going to try and get this all sorta. I just dont trust these panel shops with my z. But you are all right why should i accept this i should get what i want. Thanks again guys.
  21. I dont know but the guys on the aus300zx have pointed out my lower door hinge is slightly out of alignment and I am planning to complain about the none blending of the paint with the body. The work has a lifetime garantuee so I should be able to have them redo the job at no cost to me. Ill keep you guys posted on any updates.
  22. Hey guys, Just thought Id update everyone on the conclusion to my repairs from this accident. So I took the Z into the repair center on the scheduled date and they took all my details and I showed them the dent. They marked it and gave me a rundown on how the whole procedure will go with the repairs. They organised a free taxi ride how for me and gave me a VIP taxi card for a free trip to the repair shop once the car is repaired. Got a call later that day and was told they would email me the quote and my Z will be ready for pickup early next week. The quote stated the repair would cost the insurance company $550 to fix that dent Anyways I picked up my Z and I was so glad to have my Z back in my hands again. I got one of the panel shop employees to give me a quick rundown on what they did with the repair job. Got home and took these photos. They repair job is good but I can see the paint difference at section angles. A bit disappointing but I think the difference I'm seeing is due to fresh paint next to 12 months old paint and there is nothing you can do to match that, right?. UPDATE: According to the claims office for the insurance company Im with the repair was for only the door panel and the repair shop did not need to blend the paint to the a joining panels. Looks like they took the door handle off before painting the door and then re installing the handle back on without painting the handle. Either way I am happy with the repair job and hope I can keep the Z from being any anymore accidents for the next 20 years at a least.
  23. Awesome photo. Should show the museum that photo if u do visit. The museum was great cuz its free entry for all visitors and i hope to do this cruise again mid next year and make it an annual thing.
