  1. Joel, Raja and I will also be attending, weather dependent. Andrew is going to ride shotgun with me. I'll look into some routes local to Bicester in case we want to meet up before / after for a little jaunt.
  2. Shame, bit far from London then! ?
  3. Holy cow! Where was this (geographically) and do you think the owner would be up for a visit from enthusiasts??
  4. As there's not much to report on the car at the moment, I figured I'd share a little on the docs that came with the car from auction. There were two shoe boxes stacked with papers and manuals, obviously entirely in Japanese but what appear to be the equivalent of MOT certificates (which look far more thorough than ours!), wiring diagrams and more. I'm not sure what value they will have for me personally but hopefully with the car, they will add a great deal of value towards its backstory. The challenge I now have is to ensure I continue to document as meticulously into its future!
  5. Ever consider selling the one in the shed??
  6. Likewise Richard. Despite the wet start it was an enjoyable morning and great to meet you and the others.
  7. Weather isn't looking great for Sunday....
  8. Thanks guys. I bought one today. Will try it out once the car has had a chance to dry out!
  9. Does anyone have / use an outdoor car cover that they'd recommend? I have a Carcoon on order but it keeps getting delayed. Supposedly due to difficulties in sourcing materials. Meanwhile the weather is getting worse outside so thinking to get a cover in the interim. Thanks!
  10. I'm not able to go anymore. If you want, I can see if they'll allow a car swap with you?
  11. I got accepted but in two minds about going. Roads will no doubt be salted by then...
  12. What an experience that must have been! Well done for getting the car in track and keeping it alive. Will you be planning any more similar events for it? And how much track time did you get in the end?
  13. Looks fantastic! I think I'd also be very scared of driving it but good you have the PPF on there now. How come you'd go for full coverage with it?
  14. A bit of a delayed update unfortunately as I’ve been a bit busy with life but…I now have a MANUAL 99spec 300zx! What a difference an extra pedal makes to the satisfaction of driving! The last time I owned a manual in any car was with my previous ’90 UK and the only times I’ve driven a manual since then has been on small rental on holidays. Whilst the car was with Jim, it underwent a full 60k service, new fuel line clips (in light of that first leak on Day1) as well as the manual conversion and a general all-over inspection (remembering that I still was not fully aware of the condition of the car since buying it ‘blind’ at auction). There was fortunately no issues with the service or the manual conversion but Jim did detect a faulty O2 sensor during a post-work test drive. Jim believes that the car would have been down on power with the auto box as a result so the combination of replacing this and the manual conversion giving instant response meant that the car felt totally different on the drive back down from PowerZed! Condition-wise, I was very happy for Jim to report that there were no issues at all to be concerned about. The car hasn't been fettled with, is rust free and a very clean example. This above all makes me so happy I went for the import option but I appreciate that it could have very easily gone the other way too! As far as parts go, I wanted to go new but unfortunately some were NLA so no choice but to source used for a couple of them. I did however fit a brand new ’98 spec manual transmission with a JWT clutch which I understand should be able to manage any power increases I go for in future. And now for some photos! Dropping the car and parts off with PowerZed (big thanks to @AndrewG for driving up the gear box and driving me back down!) Out with the old.... ...and in with the New! Some shots of inbetween Service in progress and a few bonus photos from a photoshoot I did back in August ?
  15. I'm potentially in. I've also mentioned to Andrew offline and he's potentially interested. I would recommend meeting up earlier as by 9am, the roads will be filled with cars and cyclists. When I do drives in this area, I usually set off around 6-7am and am done by 9-10am with the last part idling behind slow moving traffic.
  16. In case any of you have an older auto box and fancied refreshing, my autobox taken from my genuine 99spec is now available and listed for sale. PowerZed has confirmed the condition as being very good - clean externally and oil was a good colour. It shifts perfectly and has covered approx 155k km (approx 96k miles). I've listed it in the classified section here as well as on FB and ebay. Open to offers but would be collection only due to the weight. Thought I'd post up to highlight to anyone interested!

  18. I'm on my way but won't be there til 10am. Hopefully the Toyota club move a car!
  19. Of course, how could I forget! Have replied via email, thanks!
  20. I guess there's nothing to lose by it. Do you want to pm me your email and I'll send you my ticket details?
  21. Ah ok. The problem is i won't be able to get there for 8am. It's more likely to be closer to 10am. If they'll allow a late arrival and an early (i assume around 2/3pm) then I'm in. Unfortunately my timings are limited by needing to be home with the kids
  22. Unfortunately I'm no longer able to attend the AGM. Although it looks like I'll have the car back, my wife now has to work that day so I'll need to be home with the kids.
  23. Jim has pulled a blinder and I'm able to go and get my car from him tomorrow! I already have my ticket for Sunday. Is there space on the stand? And are there any struct entry time / exit time requirements?
  24. Ah no mate, that must have felt terrible hearing that bang! Glad you're able to get it sorted relatively easily but the bills are racking up!
  25. Sounds like a brilliant opportunity! I would suggest checking your fluids beforehand and making sure they are topped up. I'd also suggest taking breaks within each 30min session as I expect your brakes will become spongy within a lap or 2 at most. Best to give them some time to cool down before carrying on. The worst case scenario would be going into run off as the car won't slow down going into a turn!
