NZR: Bluetooth card?
You seem to be lacking responses but if it's of any help then I use a bluetooth dongle which just sits on the end of a USB lead and works perfectly. I know you didn't want to go down the USB route but just thought I'd mention it ! Dave

Zeds and rolling roads.....
OK Tim - you're paranoid ! I reckon that most of us would like realistic speed limits set and then adhered to. I'd like to see 20 mph in areas with a lot of pedestrians and then up to say 90 or 100 on safe stretches of motorway. Perhaps with an element of driver experience factored in (like P plates in other countries). At the end of the day, no matter what anyone tells me, doing 150 mph+ on a public road is endangering others. If you're on a motorway and you have a blow out at that speed then those coming in the other direction are at risk of debris - and that debris will be travelling at 220 mph towards them if they're doing 70 mph. Of course, the fact that my current car has a top speed of 95mph downhill may be a factor in my current opinion.

Zeds and rolling roads.....
I agree there's a risk there and that it leads to the potential for more draconian rules. My gut feel says that things probably won't get too bad though. Like you, I don't think this is THAT bad a place to live even though we'd all like things a bit different ! Certainly I'm still of the opinion that the politicians aren't as bad as the criminals (apart from Hamilton of course!).

Zeds and rolling roads.....
As a put on my best flame proof suit ... I don't have a problem with speed cameras or with ensuring that they can identify my car every time. The more identification the better when someone comes to nick my car. And while I'm driving it, I can't see the number plates anyway ! And I would have no objection to cameras being used to track my progress around the country. If that could be used to reduce terrorist & criminal activity then it would be a good thing. And for those who complain about 'freedom', how does it reduce freedom for someone to be able to trace where you are ? You're just as free ! I do object to speed cameras in places where it's unnecessary - but that's a different debate. Sorry, think I've taken this off topic but then that's what this thread is all about ! Dave

Bob, Jan, Glen + any others for Le Mans ...
No extra discount available I'm afraid so I'll post you the form which needs to be sent to MRI (I'll pre-complete the bits which need to be the same for all of us). Are you all OK to book it quickly ? They still do have some spaces in Camping Maison Blanche which is a good site. If we all book quickly then we can get in there and it's only about 10 mins from the start/finish and the campsite backs on to the Ford Chicane (just before the start/finish). Obviously we can't guarantee to all get in the same site but it would be nice to try. CAN YOU PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR SNAIL MAIL ADDRESS URGENTLY (dave#daveandrach.com - replacing the # with @) I'll send the forms out first thing next week. Cheers Dave P.S. Any others are welcome !

alloys
There are a lot of different Pitch Circle Diameters (PCDs - the distance apart which the holes are). Some can be REALLY close but would be lethal if fitted. Do be careful. Dave

Creaky Targa Tops and Water
I always got the creaking too - I think that's fairly common. I also had the condensation problem. That turned out to be a faulty seal on the rear wiper mechanism where it meets the bootlid. It had just gone hard. Hope this helps. Dave

HELP Floods killed my Z
With all due respect, nothing you describe points to a top end problem. With the exception of dropped valves (which are highly unlikely - you'd be more likely to have valves forced out the top by hydraulic pressure!), problems which stop the engine turning over are generally caused at the bottom. I'd put money on one of Andy Duff's pointers being correct. I wish you luck whatever it is. Dave

Dry Sumps
I can't see a Z pulling the kind of g that warrants a dry sump. But I am looking forward to finding out how many different threads Nelson can use to ask this question :D

NZR : Need a "free" reliable ISP with email
As some are aware, I'm having severe problems with Freeserve. I need to set myself up a short term internet account until I decide what to do long term. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reliable pay-as-you-go service with an email account. Preferably with a very low "pay" bit " Cheers Dave

Remove the indicator first - three 10 mm nuts if I recall correctly. Took me a while to work it out as well !

More videos uploaded to Bagpuss.
That is stunning. I don't suppose anyone has on-board footage of 'that' Donnington lap ? Best F1 lap of all time IMHO. I was standing up in hysterics as I watched it. I've got it on video but not on-board footage. And apologies if you don't know what I'm talking about !

NZR : Bad ADSL performance
In order to keep a promise which I made to Freeserve just over a week ago, their service is crap and I strongly recommend that no-one uses them. To start with they were helpful. However, using a utility recommended by them, I checked my connection over a week or so and this confirmed that the connection speed was terrible for broadband - at times it was slower than a modem. Despite them continuing to take £28.99 per month from my credit card for the service, they have not made any contact with me since I supplied them with the evidence that the service was so bad. Not surprisingly, when I used their email address for 'new subscription' I got an almost immediate reply. However their suggestion was that I ring their premium rate support line to ask for a progress update - my previous experience is that I stay on hold for an average of around 20 minutes are premium rate and I'm not prepared to do that. I gave them every chance to resolve the problem and inform me of progress but they have ignored me. I told them if they didn't resolve it that I would publicise the service levels. In order to protect unfair accusations at the forum owners etc, I have sent Craig details of the emails between myself & Freeserve, including the relevant performance readings. Obviously all in my experience only. But it's genuine experience. Apologies if people aren't interested.

Audio Prob
Your best bet is to ditch the existing amp setup and run speaker cable from your head unit (or amp if you're using one) straight to the rear speakers. Hope this helps. Dave
-
How to.....
Unless they've changed their policy, you don't need to worry too much about this. I had a BMW with a nightmare problem to resolve and had 7 or 8 callouts in a year. They sent me a letter saying that they would have to charge me more if I continued to call out but they never suggested they'd remove cover. I sold the car very soon after that and never had any problem renewing despite the warning letter. Dave P.S. In case anyone is interested, the problem turned out to be an unreliable TDC sensor which senses crank position via the flywheel and which was hit through sloppy workmanship when I had a clutch fitted.

Turbo Timers
Unlikely - they tend to be a lot smaller than that. You're better off getting a little 'cubby hole'. Andy probably has one - they were a standard fit. Dave

New Years Resolutions
How about we go for some challenging New Year's Resolutions and revisit at the end of 2003 to see how we've done. Edited after getting on the scales : 1) To lose the 1.5 stone I've put on 2) No more - that'll do Dave
