I'm not really that in touch these days but it sounds expensive to me. On the turbo front, I wouldn't actually agree on being happy with light coloured smoke on boost. This would indicate oil burning and a Z shouldn't do this. The boost level is part of the equation but the other part is the actual condition of the turbos. To check the rear seal (which is what creates the need for new turbos in 90% of cases), run the to normal temperature. Then stop it for 5 minutes, then start it and leave it to idle for 5 minutes. Blue smoke out of one side or both means they'll need replacing soon. Certainly at that price, I would expect it to be on replacement turbos. Check out the history - good Z owners tend to keep receipts and stuff. Some really sad ones even keep a nice A4 folder with everything in chronological order. Obviously not me. Just the others. The performance should blow you away. But they all do that so don't buy the first one for that reason. If you can, take a current Z owner with you. Post your location on here and you might well get an offer. If the temperature is flicking around then, yes, it's probably sensor. Cheap and one of the few easy jobs on a Z ! If it's moving slowly then run a mile until it's fixed. The gauge on these is designed to stay in the centre over a wide range of temperatures. Overheating problems can be BIG money. Good luck Dave

There are a number of ways to do fog lights. Most popular is to use the inner brake lights. If you're OK with relays or really clever with diodes you can keep them as brake lights until you've turned the fog light switch off and then just the outer lights come on when you brake. Alternatively, you can just wire up the inner bulbs to a fog light switch (and relay of course if you're doing things properly). An alternative is to use one of the reversing lamps - it can easily be made red using some lens repair tape which you can get from Halfords. I used this for my wife's MX5 and it works fine. Dave
  3. Not sure where you are but Pete at SE sent mine off for me and I was well chuffed with the results. Not sure who he used but there are plenty around. If you're nowhere near Essex, try an independent wheel & tyre place near to you.
  4. How many times do I have to say it ? Stop pussy-footing Iain and speak your mind !
  5. You could get a lot of sleeping pills for that as well - possibly enough to keep you away from your PC at 6:30 ! The petrolhead part of me says 'do it'. You'll love every minute of it. Especially the first one. I didn't take my Z to that sort of stage (in fact I took it to about where yours is now but via a slightly different route). All in, I owned the Z for 2 years and spent £25K on it including buying, running, upgrading (but not petrol - I'm not sad enough to keep those receipts!). When I sold it I got £9K. There is not a great market for highly modded cars. I got a TVR afterwards and ran that for a year and then sold it due to extortionate running costs (6,000 mile interim service - that'll be £800 sir). The TVR was totally standard but was a dream car for me - the only dream car that I'll ever own I suspect. The Z was fantastic - pound for pound a better quality machine. But what I'm very slowly getting to is that, looking back, I miss them equally. In fact despite the fact that I am one of the biggest fans of the Z ever, I suspect I'd be just as happy if I'd saved my money that I spent on the Z and got a TVR earlier and not lost £16K on the Z. Instead, I could have spent that running my dream car for longer. Ramble over. My advice - forget about the actual amount of money. You've already decided that you're going to spend it. Instead, think about what else you could spend it on. If there's nothing better then I hope you enjoy the Z. And say Hi to Pete for me ! Dave
  6. I think the one in there is the green one isn't it ? Owned by Polish Man. A few on here could tell you a little more about the owner ! My shogun is in the background to one of those pics - fame at last !
  7. I'd quite like to go to WRC - anyone know the route ? If anyone hasn't been before then you just HAVE TO GO. It is the most amazing thing to watch live. Get there before they start and find a corner you want to watch from. Then imagine the speed you'd take the corner at. Then imagine you were on a death wish and add a bit more speed. Then add a bit more speed. Then wait to be shocked.
  8. Are you sure Clarkey or is that a theory ? It certainly wasn't the case on mine.
  9. And most of these are the things you're gonna have to get rid of to lose weight ... People agree with Warren in this case because he is factually accurate. Had you been round a while longer, you would be aware that there are VERY few (if any) long term members who have not disagreed with Warren ! But that's what this place is about - expressing a view and then listening to and respecting the answers. World War III WILL be started by Warren, I assure you. He is right though - you HAVE started a huge number of threads about this. As you will probably recall I defended you asking these sorts of questions initially. It was a new angle to performance and an interesting discussion - for a while. However, it's now getting tedious and you don't seem interested in views which oppose your own. Certainly in my case you refused to answer a specific question on one of your threads. I intend no offence by this post - just trying to explain the views.
  10. Sounds like Andy Elephant. Did it have a veilside supra spoiler large enough to build a block of flats on ? If so then it's him but he's not on here. What sort of times was he doing ? I last saw his car while it was still running in after a rebuild - it was hoped to be around the 700 bhp mark. Dave
  11. Sorry m8 - been away. You have a private thingy !

Don't knock it. I've spent the last 24 hours in rehab and I'm coping admirably. Craig, if he send you a cheque then bin it - I'll pay you double ...
  13. Oh come on Clarkey - no need to put up a pic of a rev counter at the only speed you're allowed to drive !!!! ;)
  14. And, even better, I've just read the thread that tells me I can go 100 x 100 !

Funny you should ask that. I was looking last night at an advert for a Caterham Fireblade. 0-60 around 3 seconds. Has a 900cc Fireblade engine, 6 speed sequential gearbox and weight around 430 kg. Seriously tempted !
  16. Looks great Craig. Have you got the "Talking b0llocks" filter switched on ?
