  1. After hearing about the stage which was cancelled yesterday due to crowds not being far enough back, I decided not to bother. From what you say, sounds like the right decision. Sorry to hear you had a crap day. Dave
  2. Any Shogun where the back door has suddenly decided to not open when it's owner and his wife are stuck in a muddy field with a load of stuff outside the car and wanting to get it inside and then ending up with shedloads of mud all over the place after trying to get all their stuff in over the back seats. Get in the way of THAT car when it's on the way home and you will regret it. Dave (taking deep breaths in attempt to get blood pressure down)
  3. No-one ever takes me seriously any more :D :D :D
  4. Congratulations you Enormous Pisshead ! And if you think the hangover is bad, wait for the field day which Ajay is about to have ! She won't just be removing that crown from you - she'll be welding a dunce's cap to your head. Really hope the pregancy goes well for you both.
  5. For what it's worth, the most credible info I came up with was that it would slightly improve power at part-open throttle. That would mean that the 'loss' could be offset by putting your foot down a bit more. If it really is about affecting the 'suck' then it would be based on resonance created at various wave frequencies. This would mean that it could only have a beneficial effect at a specific rpm and throttle opening. I've got a perverse interest in the dynamics of gas (partly due to my hobby which involves leaping off mountains and putting my life in the hands of the dynamics of gasses). Despite a fair bit of study, I still don't get this balancer pipe thing. Any more views ?
  6. Just out of interest, how many people remain from the Bravenet days ?
  7. No, not being sarcastic at all. It's one of the few debates on here which hasn't come up for a while ;). I was interested in what info you had received on it. My strictly amateur brain can't come up with a particularly good reason for them although, as you say, a lot of places do them. However, one of the most popular exhausts (Mongoose) doesn't have them and people don't suffer noticeably. Despite the many threads that have gone on about this subject, there has never been an truly authoritative post about it. Just wondered if you'd heard something 'scientific'. Dave
  8. James, Why is that ? Dave
  9. I don't think this is true. One of the deaths (an elderly lady) was quite near me and she actually died in the ambulance on the way to hospital. I think this makes it inconclusive as to whether the strike was a factor in her death. I simply post this because I expect that Stuart's post will have been based on a press report which was inaccurate - so no disrespect to Stu ! Like so many of these things, press reporting is an influence on us, even when we try not to let it be. This is a seriously difficult issue. All I hope is that frank views can continue to be expressed on here without slagging off (and it's great to see that happening so far). Dave
  10. Blimey, I'm going to agree with Warren - I'm going to print this thread out and frame it ! My take on it is that boost jets are fine as a cheap alternative but, because of the boost spikes which the others mention, you need to be more conservative. e.g. when I used them, I could boost up to 15 psi without problem but had boost jets to give me around 13.5 - 14 psi. This gave me the safety margin I needed as I would occasionally spike to 15 psi. If I'd had a proper electronic controller, I could have set it to 15 all the time. Dave
  11. Don't worry James - we've all made the mistake of starting an SE thread. It's part of the initiation. Things that remain for you are : 1) Start an auto / manual debate - but you're not allowed to do that until BigRoy's has finished (it's etiquette) 2) Ask which is the best air filter / exhaust combination 3) Ask whether boost jets are safe 4) Asked Warren why he keeps blowing up engines and is it because he's a foreigner 5) Been banned from another forum. I absolutely do not condone this but try a search for Corsa Once you've done all of this, you'll be running 450 bhp and have so much credit that they've stopped sending you offers of a new credit card every 2 days (only a Z can make that happen). Welcome !
  12. James, There's hundreds of good tales. And hundreds of bad. Dave P.S. Will the last person to post on this thread please turn the lights off
  13. Looking at the above posts, who exactly are you suggesting hasn't got over it ?
  14. So manuals get rebuilt too ? Tee hee hee
  15. I love this sort of thing. Mr & Mrs Hairsy are officially on board ! P.S. Glen, keep meaning to say it, I love the avatar !
  16. Not sure of the model number but the Bel one which you install in the dash with separate sensors is really good. I used it for a year and was well pleased. Also, with very slight filing, it fits into the clock hole in the dash of the Z and fits in very nicely. I think it may have been the 915i but the model was improved I think and given a new name. Bob will know. Dave
  17. I live in Caerphilly and can I get caerphilly cheese here ? Can I f***. And, as Waz, says .... Pease to everyone And turnips ;)
  18. 'Top Fella's warning wasn't really necessary - the posts on here were addressed to you so it wasn't exactly 'behind your back#. The fact that your brother sent them is irrelevant to my points. I apologise for being incorrect in saying you got the addresses from here. You still spammed me. Just an idea, but you might find that posting on the leading UK 300zx site might be even more effective at finding "uk zedders" than asking people on tt.net. Interesting approach to the problem of "too many forums" - set up another. No slagging off from me - if you want to set up a site then go for it and, genuinely, best of luck to you. It's not what you've done that's upset people but, rather, your approach. Hmmmm. You mention a number of sites in your spam mail but not this one. And you don't include Craig on your spam. Forgive us for jumping to conclusions ... Apology accepted Why should Craig ring you to sort it out ?!?! I doubt Craig considers it a competition. However, if you genuinely want to work with Craig, how about setting up something which gives all the things which are "missing" from here and then pass the link to Craig. With all your carbon fibre ideas, you've got the potential to offer something to the Z community and make some money. My advice to you is that you will be a lot more successful jumping onto Craig's bandwagon than starting your own. Ask the other traders ... Dave
  19. Just received this from Jaylox: hello, this is an automated email inviting you to come and veiw my new zed forum http://www.z32.co.uk if you have already recieved this email please ignor it and appologies. the new forum has been up and running for 2 days and is looking for new members ,especially members with good sound technical knoledge of the z32 any advice on what else the forum needs to make it better or more interesting would be appreciated we will be adding more links to great sites such as ttnet ,courtesey and loads of other forums asap so thanks to them for help and advice in the past thanks for your time .admin z32 Just a couple of points Jay : 1) I get enough spam already thanks. Honest. I'm not encouraged to find my forum friends sending me 'automated mail' 2) Can't say I was overly impressed with your tt.net post saying that your site was set up because this one was too expensive 3) I did go to your site and note that although you have plenty of links, you don't currently have one to this site, despite the fact that you're using this site to find addreses for spamming for new members Now I know I have made an assumption that the Jaylox who sent me the mail was you. I've also assumed that you got my mail address from here (although I'm 99% certain of that as I use different addresses in different places). Would appreciate your comments. And those of any other members of course. Years of development has gone into this site and I think that you, like the rest of us have benefitted. How about supporting it ? Dave
  20. No wonder cows always look so pleased !
  21. Iain, Just noticed your avatar - exactly how strong IS a bull's member ? Dave
  22. My local Asda does brown bread for 49p a bag. And theirs has the added advantage of being biodegradable and therefore good for the environment. Which means that your car tax is a LOT cheaper.
  23. Just in favour of Halfords, bought a headlamp unit for the Misses' MX5 today for £6.99 - not a bulb - a sealed-beam headlamp ! Well impressed !
  24. Don't worry about the parking. They've almost certainly got other things to worry about but what's the worst they can do - parking fine ? And get the git who drove off. Dave
