No way he could have done it...........
Ulrika's son has an extremely rare heart condition called Pulmonary Atresia. It basically means that only half his heart works and results in him needing open heart surgery at birth, then again at around a year and then again at around 13. No-one knows what's needed after that as the technology is so new that no-one has been kept alive long enough. My nephew has the same condition and Ulkrika visited my sister just after his first op. She spent a long time with her talking to her about all the feelings that a mother has under those conditions. She was really sensitive and was a huge help and support to my sister. I know it's not a very laddish or entertaining story but there is more to people than the press tells you. I'm not saying I like all she's done but knowing what she did for my family, for no personal gain, reminds me that I'm not really in a position to judge those I don't know. Sorry to be so serious ! major disappointment today!!!
I would guess that the losses are calculated then by measuring the friction in the drivetrain after releasing the accelerator. The rolling road should be able to provide a wheel figure though and it's worth getting this. No flywheel figure can be precise unless it's taken with the engine on a bench. See if you can get a rear wheel figure. You can then compare it to what the guys on here got at the rolling road day earlier this year. You may not be too bad. Don't be disappointed - at least you don't drive a diesel like me

major disappointment today!!!
Also, what gearbox do you have and how was the drivetrain loss calculated ? What was the rear wheel figure ?
-
major disappointment today!!!
If those are rear wheel numbers then they look OK to me. Speaking from experience ... Mongoose exhaust is fine - it won't be causing you a problem. Unless you have something actually wrong with your cats, then you're not going to release bhp by getting rid of them. I think the chip question is an important one. Also - are you running an auto or a manual ?

thinking about nitrous
Malcolm's been running his car with nitrous for yonks (at least 3). I raced him at Santa Pod with virtually identical mods apart from the fact that he had nitrous and I didn't. He beat me by just over a second. Not so keen on his rear lights unless he's changed them. Painted on circles ? Great car though. Oh, and I don't think he's on here.

To decat or not to decat!!
Powerwise my experiences were exactly the same as Warren's. Spool up differences were small but my setup wasn't quite as wild as Warren's. On turbo rear seal, mine started going 3 months later. This was at about 70,000 miles so roughly where you'd expect. Has to be a case of decide yourself whether it's co-incidence ! Dave

Avatars help
If you want to mail me a pic then I'm happy to do it when I get home tonight. If it's a big pic, you'll need to let me know if you want it cropped to select just one bit or if you want it just reduced in size to fit. Dave

thinking about nitrous
I don't have personal experience but I've done some reading up on Nitrous. I'm not sure it's fair to say that it's a dangerous mod. In small doses. I believe that Nitrous has a huge cooling effect on the incoming mixture and in small shots it can be a safe way to power. Personally I wouldn't recommend it on a Z in the early stages but that's because of the cost of the kit, the ongoing cost of Nitrous and the fact that you only get a minute or two from a tank. Boost is always there !

So, where to go?
I could be wrong here but if you're having an ECU remapped then it doesn't matter what it started out as - Mines, SE, JWT, Nissan. The only difference is the chip. The only exception I know of to this is the UNICHIP which is a complete system with laptop software. However, the Mines COULD be more complex than this - Warren will know ...

Mines web site?
It does sound very nice. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of money was it ? And is it body repairs or upgrade ?

Mines web site?
And never leads to engine blow ups

Cleaning Materials whats the best ect
Harry's probably not the cheapest but they do stock it - I got most of mine from the Harry's near you. They used to do some packs of a few different autoglym products that worked out quite reasonable value.

Cleaning Materials whats the best ect
The hide of a freshly skinned South African is excellent for polishing alloy. Sorry, saw Red Dragon last night and it's still in my system. Most users of Autoglym products seem to swear by them and I've always found them to be excellent. An idea which I had for the black bits, but never got round to trying, was boot polish. I used this on the black vinyl roof of my Mk1 Capri and it worked brilliantly. You should have taken your car to SE ...

God this place has gone to ground!
Russtic, Useful comments. There's a thread in the members forum where ideas are being discussed to restructure the site to suit various types of people - particularly those in your shoes. I'll stick a copy of your post on there. Craig is keen to make any enhancements which the members want - I think you'll see something in the next week or so (he's away at the moment). Good luck in the car choice - but there's only one really ... Dave

Boost Problems after HKS BOV install...>>>
If you had all 4 working at one point, presumably you had vacuum going to all 4. If you're now using the vacuum feed from the stocks to go to the new ones, what has happened the the feed which was previously on the new ones ? If they're now disconnected, you'll have a vacuum leak which will be causing your problem. Having said that, it's probably a bit too obvious ! However, a leak is the most likely scenario.

getting shot of aircon !!
This would actually increase the effect. The air moving backwards is created by the difference in speed of the air moving over the car and the air inside the car (that difference being the speed you're moving at). The air coming backwards is actually an area of turbulence between an area of high pressure (above and a bit behind the car) and an area of low pressure inside the car. The air is actually travelling in circles. If you held up a streamer and moved it around you'd see the air all over the place in the car. If you popped the bootlid higher, you'd create a larger area of low pressure. You MIGHT find that the bit of air that your head is in is not now moving backwards (i.e. the circles of air are in a different place and your head is in a backwards moving bit) but the drag would be greater. No doubt this thread is about to kick off !

getting shot of aircon !!
A far less drastic way to check the effect on low end grunt is to remove the belt. Much easier to reverse than removing the compressor. However, like the others, I wouldn't expect you to notice a difference. Of course you don't then get the benefit of reduced mass but, as everyone knows, we should never discuss politics, religion or mass.

Is that the one with Peugeot front lights ? If so, I loved that ! Can't remember where my car is - it's only in the background of one of the pics. And it's not worth looking for !
