  1. I'm just waiting for you to post a link from http://www.howstuffworks.com that's headed "Nelson's mind" !
  2. By way of example : Interim service on my Chimaera - that's interim 6,000 mile service : £800. And there was nothing seriously wrong with it. But after every service, it came back like a new car - which explains why they breakdown if not looked after. It's the one marque where I'd suggest always going for main dealer servicing. There are a couple of decent specialists but when I was looking for mine, the difference between those with full main dealer history and those without was enormous. Cheap servicing is definitely a false economy. Dave
  3. As Warren says, my 4 litre TVR was a dead match for Craig's Z. And that was based on multiple goes and with each of us driving both cars. A 5 litre Griff should have been quicker (although dependent on the tuning of your Z). Having said that, as Warren says, TVRs vary enormously on quality. They need a lot of money and TLC spent on them to keep them nice. And that's a lot when compared to a Z. I know - I've done both and couldn't afford to keep the TVR. No TVR has an F1 engine. But they still sound nicer than anything else on the planet. I miss my TVR and Z equally. The Z is a much better value car but the TVR, on the right day, is by far the better driving experience.
  4. Thanks Jeff - I'll put her on to your website and suggest she calls you if she decides to go ahead. Dave
  5. Cheers Paul - I've passed the info on & it's appreciated.
  6. Nelson - find some work to do. PLEASE !!!
  7. May seem an odd place to ask this but I'm sure someone on here does security systems but can't remember who. I have a friend who wants to get a cat. She lives alone and also wants the security of the alarm system which she already has. Are there any motion sensors which she can use which can be set to not trip with cat movement but would pick up a human moving around ? Cheers Dave
  8. I use the standard Pioneer setup which isn't too bad - 4 aerials with auto switching. But if you do find something good then I'd be interested. Dave

Where did you get TomTom and how much was it ? I have a PDA and also a GPS receiver so all I'd need is the lead. I like the sound of what you've got ... Dave
  10. I don't think it would add anything to what you've said and I don't like name calling. :p
  11. I'm not sure this is fair - the regime itself is the problem, not the majority of the Iraqi people or soldiers. And, even in primitive times, survival of the tribe was a basic instinct. I don't think Saddam's actions show much respect for his 'tribe'. I think that primitive as giving him too much credit. Dave
  12. Are you suggesting that democracy means the opportunity to vote once every four years. And that you're happy to get one vote to cover every issue on which you have an opinion. Personally, protestors normally wind me up. But I respect (a) their ability to do so (in a non disruptive manner) and (b) the fact that they are prepared to get off their backsides to stand up for what is right. I'm generally too lazy to do anything myself whether I agree or not. And that is why I believe you get 1 million expressing a view and 57 million not. I do NOT support any disruptive protestors. Is that what you're referring to ? Dabe
  13. Thanks everyone. I ended up finding some at Maplins and it did the job. Good stuff - lubricates well and not at all sticky. Shell also do it but I didn't get it from them as it wasn't heavy enough.
  14. ROFLMFAO !
  15. This got me playing with search and I came across this : http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?threadid=35003 Nelson, why aren't you sharing your mad thoughts with just us ? Traitor ! Dave P.S. Incidentally, I have monocular vision but have full 3 dimensional comprehension. Instead of using 2 images, I use an enhanced perception of relative size and movement to generate a 3 dimensional comprehension in my head. I do have very occasional problems when something is a different size to what my brain expects but it's rare
  16. You're so predictable Waz !!! I notice that you didn't offer to lend me some from your personal stash. I can't find any useful hits on diy.com though !
  17. I need to get hold of some silicon lubricant but I don't know what it is or where I can get it. I went down to Halfords and B&Q and couldn't find anything which called itself silicon lubricant. Can anyone help ? Is it a grease of some sort ? I need it for the chassis of my paramotor and given the fact that a failure would be more than a little catastrophic, I'm kind of keen to get the right stuff ! Cheers Dave
  18. I've owned two Alfas and my sister had a Cinquecento and her housemate had a Panda. Based on our collective experiences, I would never buy an Italian car. Oh, and a mate had a Lancia Delta which was fun but cr@p. None of these were as modern as the Brava though and things could have improved. But you asked for thoughts ! Dave
  19. What is wrong with what Nelson posted ? I think the suggestion that one should only post if one is 'serious' about selling is a bit harsh. This isn't Autotrader. It will come as no surprise to anyone that I rarely see eye to eye with Nelson :D but I think everyone is entitled to post pretty much anything Z related and inoffensive. And I always find Nelson threads entertaining ! Give the guy a break
  20. What does one of these do ? Cheers Dave
  21. Here you go John ... If you're serious, the governing body has a long term programme to get people with disabilities flying. I could get you some info ... Craig, no tandems this year - the exams are proving a bit trickier than I was hoping ... And the motor only has 20 bhp or so and judging by the amount of lager drunk by most people last year, I'd be lucky to move, let alone get airborne.
