  1. Bee Gees. Although I think Boyzone may have covered it. Next.
  2. Just ordered one of these (well, the engine at least). I may not have the fastest machine at Billing but I'll beat you all through the traffic. And I'll be doing 45 mpg.

It's for the Black Box Flight Recorder which is fitted underneath the spare wheel.
  4. I know what you mean but then I mean it too ! I was thinking of the TR6 as well when I posted. But I didn't like to actually admit it in case people thought I had decided to grow a beard.
  5. You're right, I haven't read it. But, you never know, I could be right even if it says something different in the enthusiasts companion. Just coz it's written somewhere doesn't mean it's necessarily true. Perhaps someone with an auto could try getting the box to behave differently in 1st & 2nd when overdrive is on and off - that would give some evidence of my being wrong. I promise I'm not speaking from guesswork or hearsay !
  6. This is true for traditional overdrive boxes (like the old triumph ones) the Z gearbox adds a 4th gear. You can switch overdrive on and off as much as you like in 1st & 2nd and it'll make no difference. If it's switched OFF then it will allow the box to lock in 3rd. If it's switched ON then lock will only function in 4th. It's that which makes a lot of people think that it introduces an extra range because it feels like it changes the ratio in 3rd. But it doesn't. Honest ! Dave
  7. That's not strictly true - there IS reduced performance. You just do it when there's no need for extra performance. It's a bit like saying you don't get reduced performance when you take your foot off the accelerator. Still a interesting thread which satisfied my need for entertainment on a Friday afternoon which I sought by searching for "Nelson Mainfella". And, Nelson, if you wanted to try it then it would very simple to set up a 3 pole switch to disable 3 injectors. Just make sure that they are alternate firers though. It might be less lumpy than people might think. Although it's not what I'd choose to do with my own car !
  8. There's Paul Bailey who used to be based around Bristol. How South West do you mean ?
  9. You could stick your feet up for 18 months and take it easy. That's was Duff did.

Can someone remind me ... what exactly IS congestion ? I LOVE WALES !
  11. I'd double check that price - I had same work done there and I think it was around £1,500. Dave
  12. Speed on my Freeserve account was dreadful after a while and the customer service was non existent. As soon as it's available at my new place, I'll be signing up with BT. I've found their service in the past to be excellent. And, ultimately, they're the ones providing the hardware so you're cutting out the middle man.
  13. It's amazing that no-one had spotted that problem before. Especially with those bright red arrows there.
  14. Now come on Glen - we all know you're just itching to put a Ford badge on yours !
  15. I'd love a Tuscan too. The Chimaera was 100% reliable but it cost an absolute fortune in servicing to keep it reliable. The Z is much better value. But the wrong noise ! Mine was a 4 litre and it was a perfect performance match with Craig's Z (slightly modded). Craig and I had some fun that morning ...
  16. Which TVR Vicky ? I went the other way - 300zx to a Chimaera.
  17. Haven't you got enough children already Craig ? 1,696 at the last count. Dave P.S. Cheers for the storage :)
  18. You look silly but I've done it and it does work ... Get a long piece of vacuum hose and stick one end in your ear. Run the car and move the other end of the hose around the engine bay. It acts as an extremely directional mike and if you're pointing it at (and close to) a leak, you'll hear it. And take a picture for the rest of us.
  19. Henri Le Hir might be able to help but you'll have to pick them up from Switzerland !
  20. I don't think it'll affect the power curve on a standard test. What would be interesting would be a quick 'off-on' throttle blip at around 4,000 revs during a run. Dave
  21. I agree with Duff. This thread warms my heart and makes me proud to not be a Z owner.

  23. I don't remember precisely but remove the plaster sill covers and then work forwards and up removing bits of plastic. It's far less tricky than you might imagine. Dave
  24. Oh there is ! My French isn't great but I know enough to get the gist of a lot of it !
  25. Those cut'n'shuts get everywhere
