  1. Wondered if you'd like to share your greatest error of judgement. Here's mine. It's a sad tale. Traded in my 1.1 Fiesta for it. Drove it. Broke it at 142 MPH on a private test track in Scotland. New engine, turbo and huge bill. Broke it for good finally in Norfolk. Drove it into some holidaymakers Rover along a country lane, luckily they didn't get hurt. A good 6 years ago now. Not proud. Very painful. Any more? :mac1:
  2. You changed your Tax date from 0104 to 0704? Does that count with the DVLA?
  3. Just seen my old 1.8 Clio, which I wrote off in 2001. Last change of owner Feb 2002. Nice to see it's on the road! :-/
  4. Yeah we do actually. We look at our computer models, generated on our multi million pound supercomputers, compare the output to outher Met Offices around the world, decide on the best solution, then ask Matty to have a glance over the answer. It's like a "the man from del monte - he say yes!" moment. BTH a lot of 5 day forecasts are automatically genetrated and do not allow for cold or hot spots around the country, a low lying site, like Benson Airfield in the SE can be as much as 5 C colder than somewhere in a town, with lots of concrete and a heat island effect only a few miles away. You will probably get -14 next week on the top of Ben Nevis, but that's the headline figure. And then the wind chill makes it -28, so the Sun says -28 in Britain, it'll freeze you nadgers off. It will be cold next week tho. And my Zed's going nowhere near.
  5. Lovely! See that 350z in the background of pic 3? Doesn't stir my trouser contents at all. I know which I'd have.
  6. Never heard of these guys before, but they do a 300zx Apexi intake for 76 quid! http://www.funkyproduct.co.uk/item.php?carNumber=38&carMake=Fairlady&catTypeNumber=17&catType=Air%20Intake%20Stuff&subcatType=Induction%20Kits&subcatTypeNumber=80 Already got mine for mucho more than that!
  7. Yes, mainly easy. The only bit of any slight difficulty was 2 bolts which attach the lower section of the old airbox to the car. Bit awkard and took about 10 mins to do one side, 30 the other, as it was a longer bolt. Just need agile fingers and patience! Or a 10mm ratchet spanner, then it'll take 30 secs. :D Instructions from 300zx.org.uk and diagram in the Japanese instructions are all you need otherwise. It was also a good time to clear 13 year old mulch from the rad.
  8. Just been back from my first run with my new Apexi Intake (all I have as far as mods go), and must say the car feels "livlier", mainly at lowish revs, seems quicker to pick up. Not much at the top end, or maybe I don't notice as I'm usually screaming at the time :o Time to tell my insurance co.... :(
  9. Chopper - if you d fit these, pop by mine near Exeter, I've got some crumpets need toasting. :D Could sound dodgy that, but I assure you it's not. :slap:
  10. I quote: "a Witness is not allowed to smoke, to receive blood, to do military service, to celebrate feast days such as Christmas, birthdays and Shrove tuesday, to participate in political life or to vote in elections. Nor are the Witnesses allowed to read literature that is critical of the Watchtower Society. " But they obviously allow ownership of a 300zx! Also, from another website, the 11th commandment is "Thou must not covet thy neighbours Wide Arse Kit."
  11. Plug in Baby, Bliss, Feeling Good, off the first album. Time is running out, Sing for absolution, from the latest one. In fact I can't say I've liked so many songs from any band since Definately Maybe.
  12. Going to their 'Homecoming' gig on Sat in Exeter. Just won the tickets on Ebay by 50p! Sing for absoluuuuuutiooooon!!!!
  13. Ah! But sources abound that you're saving up for an R33. Don't do it! Why would you want a smaller engine?
  14. Oooohh. that was 100 posts! Only took me 13 months. As for you WillieO, you're obviously the devil.
  15. Personally, being an emloyee of the Met Office. I can't comment on global warming. But what with my 3 litre Nissan, 2 litre Rover and 2.5 L diesel van; I'm contributing in my own little way.
  16. Red import, J reg, missing offside front indicator. Spotted in the car park of the pub just by the new Met Office in Exeter. Anyone here? Not many Zed's in Devon, so this is a bit of an event!
  17. Me? 16 inch BBS with NIssan written on them !? Look very small.
  18. I'm doing the ring around this afternoon. Gave Norton a ring, they didn't ask me anything but my address, age (30), basic car spec, and how many miles I'd do. They quoted over 500 quid, and that's before I told them about the accident (!) and my wifes heinous speeding offenses. Firebond much cheaper at £370 for 6000 miles per year. And they quoted me £370 TPFT for my daily driver Rover 820SLi for 10000 miles per year. Although the Rover is far more dangerous to drive. Ever tried cornering in one?!?!? Just phoned quoteline direct, my current insurer, and that's only £215 for the Rover  That's both insured for 600 quid! Last year was 1200 pounds just for the Zed!
  19. Saw it land then take off at Bournemouth Airport about 6 years ago. I was working as a Meterological Obserser at the time, just under ATC. Got as close to the runway as I thought sensible. Saw the haze from the engines as it started it's run accompanied by a roar. It lifted off the ground just as it passed me, fantastic, such power. A real Top Gun stupid American moment for me, doing a windmill with me arms, in hindsight I looked like a right  Ah well, at least we still world leaders in exports of Football Hooligans. Apart from maybe the Turkish.
  20. Unsellable? I'll keep my Zed till the end! I'll fight anyone for the last tank of Optimax on the planet - Mad Max stylee. The last of the great V6's.;)
  21. B*stards. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3202590.stm Not sure well get off lightly with our 3 litre engines  I'd still pay it if it was 500 quid a year, if it meant driving the Zed. Not getting me in a 1.2 Sad Suburban C*nt mobile. Matt.
  22. hmmmm, if i/you/anyone, could persuade my wife that: big brakes/induction/18inch wheels/high rise rear spoiler/99 spec front end/scorpion exhaust/remote start/major ice install/samco pipes...etc are preferable to holidays/soft furnishings/savings/garden funiture/food...etc then I'm stuck standard! Ah well. Standard is still a Zed!
  23. Kirbz, Yep, they may only be standard size, but they do look great and perform extremely well (and are cheaper than standard discs!!). I put them on them front with Mintex 1144's and the difference was immense. I can stop now. That's my only Mod! So your discs are black diamond? I thought about them a while back, but 20GR's get a lot of recommendations on this forum. Less handbrake turns mate! Matt.
