  1. top man, I think I need a thermostat or something. At the moment I'm just plugging it into a live relay, but that way it's on permanently even which the ignition off :(.
  2. Ok it's been 3 years and I can't remember how to work this dam alarm. I've managed to get it out of vallet mode which it entered due to smart start. Installed the bonnet switch today as it kept chirping 4 times at me. Now I remember the * button used to remote start the engine, however I also know that in order for that to work on my manual you had to press something or a combination before you turned the engine off. It would then keep the engine running like a turbo timer until you locked the doors then it would switch off and could be remote started by just pressing the * buttom on the key fob. Anyone else got remote start fitted and know what the secret combo is. I've checked the manual but it doesn't mention the switching off button pressing. Only the remote starting with *. I'll dig out the old 300zx PC tomorrow and plug it in, may as well do that and configure the traction control and run a conzult while I'm at it. I think my Car has more interface wires than my pc lol.
  3. do you still have the wind deflectors that pop up when you take the targa's off ?
  4. I think he works for sky insurance doesn't he ?
  5. I have to add, that these guys at Sky know what they are talking about. Not only did they know what every single mod on my car was, they also understand what a car enthusiast is, rather than some of the companies I phoned who feel that they should tell me they have a smaller mortgage than what I have spent on my car. I have to reccommend that if anyone is looking for insurance on thier heavily modded 300zx or any other car that has mods, try these guys first. Thanks Andy for the tip ;)
  6. sorted best quote so far. £821 for a like for like modification replacement. Fuly comp Also the juicy bit is, that they have agreed the valuation of £15k on the car. Carlin don't do insurance but if they did ... I think this is going to be the one I go with but will try a few more before agreeing.
  7. Thanks mate I tried Broadsure Insurance but they haven't got back to me, same as most others in that post. "we'll call you back within an hour" they didn't. Andy, I'm trying to get through to sky now. Been ringing for age though :(
  8. I couldn't even get a quote form your guys, the underwriter said sorry but we just can't insure you, purely because of the modifications. All of a sudden Adrian Flux is starting to look like my only option for a grand a year. :(
  9. Sticky valves maybe ?. Hard to start, then sounds like it's misfiring ?
  10. It's a pain in the butt when you talk to insurance companies and you say, can I send you the list of mods. A few of them have said no we need to take them over the phone. OK, here they are. As discussed here is the list of modifications done to the car, everything that is not on the list is standard. 11. how much are you paying with Carol ? if that's not too personal ?
  12. thanks guys, Just tried Adrian Flux. I'm 34, never had an accident, no points, got full no claims on my Beema. The best they could do is a like for like replacement policy with break down cover etc and 3K limited milage for £1084  I will try the others
  13. Didn't we have a sticky somewhere with insurers and numbers etc ? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Done a search and found that carol nash and adrian flux along with sky seem to be the most popular. Anyone got these numbers or any referances I can use ?.
  14. Anyone got a wiring diagram ? Those running one, is yours on permanently or comes on at certain temps ? How is it wired ?
  15. So did the guy who won get to buy the caravan for his ma ?
  16. Hi Dave, I remember reading your post last year, was absolutley gutted for you. At the time my wife was 6 week pregnant. I'm very happy to hear that Jo is expecting again. Congratulations. Don't forget to post up your scan pics :)
  17. I believe that rods are forged as standard. I don't know exactly how much they can handle but all I can say that they can take more than the pistons P)
  18. I've had mine skimmed before painting as when fitted it dimpled on either side. Also had the IC vents fitted at the same time. This was done by Peter. I believe I have the same bumper as you.
  19. Ah I can;t see this at work, youtube is blocked, who was it ?. Do/did I know him ?
  20. Myself and Warren managed to get a 34 300zx convoy going from Brighton to boxhill back in 2003. (there's a vid of it on youtube, click my video link and browse my other vids to find it). I think that currently holds the club record (if there is such a thing) for the largest 300zx convoy. As to amount of 300zx's at a meet, not sure what the club record is for that.
  21. Yep, If you are not already booked in with him then you have about 6 - 8 months wait as he has another 4 zeds behind me (so that's about 8 years work for him lol). If all's running well I'll try and get myself to Z008. :)
  22. My car failed it's MOT :(. Washers not working kinked pipe - fixed. Side repeater not working corroded bulb holder - fixed. License plate too small gonna get a bigger one made up tomorrow morning and slap it over the top for the MOT. Horn not working Forgot to wire it up when I changed the steering wheel - getting it sorted now. Passed on everything else. Test certificate is already written out, so only the above will be checked again tomorrow morning. I should have the car back tomorrow evening. I can't wait.
  23. You are very brave indeed. Hopefully it will all be over soon and you will be back to normal again. Here's wishing a very speedy recovery for you. Take care mate and try not to worry about it all too much.

It's probably because everyone is making last minute adjustments or fitting new things just before the shows. Then something goes wrong, not with the part they just fitted, but the part they moved to the side to enable easier fitting of the new part :).
  25. a 95 should go for more than that surely. I'm sure I can surely fit the word sure in this post a few more times, surely.
