Ok it's been 3 years and I can't remember how to work this dam alarm.

I've managed to get it out of vallet mode which it entered due to smart start.

Installed the bonnet switch today as it kept chirping 4 times at me.

Now I remember the * button used to remote start the engine, however I also know that in order for that to work on my manual you had to press something or a combination before you turned the engine off. It would then keep the engine running like a turbo timer until you locked the doors then it would switch off and could be remote started by just pressing the * buttom on the key fob.

Anyone else got remote start fitted and know what the secret combo is. I've checked the manual but it doesn't mention the switching off button pressing. Only the remote starting with *.

I'll dig out the old 300zx PC tomorrow and plug it in, may as well do that and configure the traction control and run a conzult while I'm at it. I think my Car has more interface wires than my pc lol.

found some more info for the remote start see if this works.

u have to have the ignition on and then push the clifford button twice then the double star key(not single start key) take out key and arm the alarm the car will then shut down and u can remote start it the next time

Thanks mate, but I already have the full manual, that one to be exact.

I did download it but it's identical to what I already have and it doesn;t say in there what to do :(.

With car running, out of gear, hand brake on, foot off the brakes, press the two bottom buttons (i think):headlight and boot release. You should hear a relay click (depending on where they've installed it) then remove the key (the car should continue to run) turn lights off, get out the car, and lock as normal and the engine should stop.

Then when u want to remote start it press the * button; car should start but is still locked. When you're ready, unlock the car, get in, don't touch the brakes! Insert the key into ignition and switch it to the on postion, when all this is done, apply the foot brake and you should now gain control over the car (and probably the revs will increase/decrease ever so slightly).

top man, I wanna go try this now but my car now sounds like a fooking beast with the upgraded manifolds and downpipes.

I think I'll have to leave it to a more earthly hour :).

Thanks for your help mate, very much appreciated. :duffer:

Well I didn't get to try this this morning.

I have another bigger problem.

Got it insured and taxed and has mot so I thought I would take it out of a test drive.

I took the car out of vallet mode.

Got in started her up, wound down the window,

entered my black jack code.

Didn't seem to acept it.

Tried the factory set code.

Again no good.

So I've had to disconnect the battery now as I can't get the car to come out of black jack mode without the correct code.

Major problem is that I can't do the window up.

HELP !!!!

£80 spent just to get the car working again :(.

I was so much better off when the 300zx was off the road lol.

Update.

Now that all the little problems are sorted I tried what you suggested with teh boot release and the headlight buttons but didn't have any effect.

I'm not one for lots of keys etc on my key ring and I have the master remote on there as well as the companion remote. So thinking back I'm sure I could only activate the turbo timer/shutdown mode by pressing a combination on the master. I'll keep digging.
