Z34 on the way
Diesel is great for pulling loads around and cruising, accelerating from 60 to 80... But lets be honest who gives a shit about that. Diesels are actually rubbish, they burn inefficiently, pollute more than they really should and are vastly complicated these days and cost so much to run. They dont even sound good, they dont rev properly (cannot stand that woolly increase in revs you get near the "red line" i.e when it cant overcome its own compression!) They're not even that economical when worked hard, a proper petrol engine, with direct common rail injection can all but match the economy of a diesel (bear in mind the diesels weight penalty as well since its hune from granit or similar AND its hugely more expensive fuel!) and yet sounds good, and revs properly and is kinder on the environment! So for the sake of everything nissan, DONT put a bloody diesel in there!

How much will our road tax be next year?
There is a little known loophole within the taxation rules regarding imports, it is based on the MFR date BUT only if there are available co2 emission data values. For the z32 there is no "confirmed" (by that means accepted) values for its co2 emission, so it could not ever be re classified from its "high band" tax that it is (Remember since they are all pre march 01 (even ones considered registered after then of course)) So all Z32's rely on the above or below 1549cc old style rules. However the little loophole affects some later cars which for some reason still do not have proper data for them (only imports) some mitsubishi evos, although registered after a certain date and are UK cars (but through such small numbers are actually imports, weird i know!) are seen on the emissions database as un classified so are therefore under the old rules, because there was no emission data for them when they were registered by rallyart UK. I have a friend with such a car, his tax is the same as mine, yet another car on his OC which is literally weeks newer is almost double. Confirmed from the reg plates by DVLA! However, i have to say it "here we go again" ANOTHER thread about car tax, it cannot change for our cars (other than be increasing by a small amount) If it were to rocket up then all older vehicles with anything larger than 1549cc would pay a huge amount which is unfair. (Take my xsara, because its pre march 01 it comes under the old rules, so £200 a year ish. Under the new rules, same car but on an 51 plate say, the yearly tax was like £145) So for a car that should really be £145, if they made it £400 it would be really really unfair! One good thing about the car tax rules are that a car cannot be reclassified in a taxband once it has originally recieved a band. So hence why although prices of the band can change, a car cannot actually jump bands (unless it was made AFTER the rules were in place)

Do you think that TG will buy a Z32 as a banger to smash up?
Yeah, which is actually a real shame... Do we know any of the charactors who were there from the zed club, i think this may have been from the first series, i could check but its late and i cant be bothered LOL. Makes it a very early 350z review, which wasnt very good!

well yes and no, the race between the 300 and 350 on TG when clarkson was saying older was faster than new, and hammond was saying the opposite was supposed to be because cars were getting heavier because they were safer and kinder to the environment i think. tha earlier 350's were not as powerful as a standard TT though :) but yeh i'll try and dig out which episode of TG it was with all the z cars in the studio, was an early one. But defo new style.

Serously strange problem
thats because your a registered member mate. You need to be subscribed to effectivley use the buy and sell sections of the forum. Its well worth the £20 a year, just for the technical know how alone. Let alone the group buys and ability to use the forum for your classifieds and also buying.

Will you ever understand the Zed?
there wasnt a single designer involved, there were several teams both in america and Japan involved with the design of the Z32. The Enthusiasts companion by Ray Hutton explains all this very nicely, quite sought after althoguh it comes up on ebay from time to time. and also the Nissan 300zx and 350z - The Z car story by brian Long is also a cracking read.

The coupe for less than 1500 that isnt a porsche challenge could have included a z32, but it would have won. For that they'd have got an NA at the time which would have wiped the floor with a 635csi (a car i love dearly and was sad to see them ruin that one, although it was hardly mint when they started lol) and the old XJS. The starion was a wreck as well. The z32 is a vastly superior car to all three and would have trounced the competition, the Z32 has made a few appearence on new style top gear. From memory the scientist burn out and also the race between the Z32 and Z33 im sure its been in another time as well Id love them to do a feature on old classics like they did with the corrado and the merc 190e 2.5-16 cosworth, on things like the supra, gto and 300zx and rx7 . Would be a good shoot out and fascinating to watch - all those cars could be bought by the majority of TG's viewers, unlike most of the fast/nice stuff they show. Not that im complaining at all, but it would be nice to show some bargain performance from time to time! to follow on If i remember correctly when the Z33 was first announced top gear had a line up of z cars, a 240, 260 280 and also a Z31, (they also had members of the z club there, anyone we know??) but no Z32 to be seen as they wanted to state the the z car had started off wonderful and got steadily worse over the years, and the 350z was the supposid revival. Shame they didnt actually show the Z32, which is only second to the 240z IMHO in the hole nissan Z car range. Im not sure if it was intentional or just that they didnt want to show the car since it was a VERY hard act to follow... One of lifes mysteries!

Serously strange problem
aye well that is a possibility, maybe an ecu reset wouldnt go amiss, have you taken the battery of to let any charges clear? Probably worth trying another ecu if you can borrow one though!

Serously strange problem
fuel pump relay perhaps? Could be sticking on when you kill the ignition?

EVO X - OMG What a con
Thats pretty good actually! 20% premium for using a car that isnt yours for 3 years is pretty impressive. Dont buy a car on tick, its not a good plan! Why should anyone lend you money and not charge interest? Its just economic sense... Besides you must be mad to think about buying a car new i know i never would!

6 Ton hydraulic Press
id say 6 ton would be enough! I doubt there would ever be anything like 6 ton trying to pull the bush out on the car so youd have thoguht 6 ton would be more than enough to get said bushes into the hole.... Surely some lubricant and a vice shoudl do the trick in most cases hehe

dead matrix?

are zed motors that good anyway ???
also the fact that its 25 year old technology! There wernt many cars that had engines with as high output per litre as the 300zx back in 1989, certainly not when the motor was developed for MID4!

900hp 300zx Vs tuned E46 M3 and 700 Porche 996
Americans tend to be very generous with the gains they get from their mods... Like a chipped 300zx with a bar of boost is like 450bhp to them, where as were realistic and say its nearer 350 (lets be honest they probably wernt 280 when we started the tuning!)

Rides section
too large for a single upload perhaps? Im not sure but that would be my first guess...

Overheating :(
thats not bad at all!

Are we turning into a classic car club?
well i said this last year but it wont be long until there are drivers who are younger than the cars... Then you know its a classic!

when do u know that . . . ITS TIME!!!
I think you would be better looking for a good shell mate, honestly you could spend loads and loads tidying that shell and it still not be right. Its a UK car with alot of miles on it, if i were you id try and find somthing and transfer all the nice bits (wheels, new engine and gearbox etc) into the clean shell. There ar eplenty about for very little money. then sell whats left of the pair of as parts, youd probably almost get what you paid for the other shell. (I.e look for one with a dead turbo etc!)

teins are on (pic included)
Looks good mate, wish i could say i was falling back in love with mine :(

one lamp on
im sure someone has that this before i remember the topic, it ended up being a dodgy relay i think. I'll have a search see if i can find it!
