500bhp vs stock performance
That all?? Im sure they are 1640kg STD for a LWB TT. I suppose they'll have lost 40kg with all the bits dropping off and rust!

500bhp vs stock performance
not sure dont have either! LOL Probably not so far off, although it will probably rattle more. End of the day although the zed is considered a heavy car, 1600-1700kg thats not a heavy car to hasve 500bhp (see m5 and m6 are both around the 1850kg mark)

500bhp vs stock performance
there will be an entire honda civic type R difference... Say stock is 5.6 - to 60 14.4 to 100 165mph flat out 500bhp would put you at around low 4's to 60 maybe just over 10 to 100mph and depending on the map and turbos to the perhaps the max top speed of the box, 186mph on the stock rev limit for the manual, and 204 for the auto (probably not attainable since the torque converter will slip a little bit...)

Overheating :(
I believe the water pump is the same on all models, according to this it is anyway http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_52_46&products_id=129 I think its a fairly big job on one of these though although im not entirly sure. Might be cambelt off? Or worth doing the cambelt while all the kit around the water pump is off anyway!

Blitz MAP Analyser
i would say that the map analyzer blitz mention is for looking at the fueling map on the ECU, much like conzult and datascan does as well i think. I cant see what benefit analyzing the map would be as your going along, unless you intend to change the fuel map which you cant really do on a standard ECU i dont think. As for the MAP sensor on the engine what does that do?

Quantum of Solace trailer
I dont like daniel craig as bond... I love bond films, but hated casion royale, When ever i see daniel craig i expect him to be a slightly seedy drug dealer (layer cake) one of my all time favorite films. Which i know is type casting but its not james bond to me. He always looks a bit pathetic to me, not really the cold killer with a sense of humour that bond should be. I'll watch this when im next at home thought and see what i think about it.

What a bloody day!
ha, i am a computer hardware guy by original trade.... worked for a couple of shops in town for a few years and also for my school while i was there (head hunted at age 16 by the IT department hehe) But I'm also trained in fibre optics spent a year around the country terminating and splicing fibre. Ended up in some amazing places with that job, but it was long hours and stressfull Then i went into software installation training and support (CAM software for the ductwork industry - riving plasma cutters, oxy, laser and water jets). Mainly office based and no company vehicle so it did my head in and i had to run two cars - expensive New job is much the same but for a tiny piece of software which drives a methadone dispenser for use in pharmacies. So arrive on site, plug it all in, put a bottle of methadone in it and away we go :D Also back to a company vehicle again which is all good. Free travel! :D Currently sat in sainsburys cafe, pharmacist on today is pretty clued up bless her and their patients are spread accross the day from 7:00am till 11:00pm... I better start looking for a garage to reattach the boost pipes in my van lol

Random Bonging
tahts the beep, does yours do the lights on bong? Mine plays a chime when you come to a stop, I think its to let you knwo its still in drive and that if you release the brake it will move. Obviously a normal person can remember that since they have just stopped their automatic and not taken it out of drive then it will go, because its supposed to... Americans are to blame for this one as well :). Its the same as reverse, why does it need to tell you? Im perfectly aware that ive put the car in reverse because ive just put it there since i intend to go backwards... why do you feel the need to tell me about what ive just done! Stupid car.

Random Bonging
was the car ever an auto?? Mine bongs when it stops ( it did it as an auto and still does it now)

What a bloody day!
ha as an update.... finally into the hotel room. BUT hotel booking website was down so they hadnt recieved my reservation... and the hotels card machine is out of action! For the love of god LOL. So they are going to put my bosses card through in another one of their hotels for now! I dont pay for carparking anyway... claim it all back, just rather not bother for the sake of sitting on the road side for 10 mins.. As for my zed, if i could get work to fund the fuel for it (as an alternative to my van...) id use when ever i could.. would be a lovely day for it today. But for an unairconditioned renault kangoo van which only had 60bhp when it was new, 5 years ago which now has no boost, wont rev above 2k and do no more than 45mph the heat is not good LOL

What a bloody day!
Currently sat on a side street in huddersfield, pine street i think, with my laptop on my knee in my broken van lol.... well sort of broken.. I'll start from the begining, up at the ungodly hour of 6:30 to go to a sainsburys to check on how they are doing with their new dispensing machine, all is well so thats going fairly well BUT the pharmascist in today has decided to differently to the one from yesterday and so ive got to move all the camera and fingerprint scanner.. not enough extension leads so ive gotta go find a shop that can sell me somthing at vast cost (company card not yet arrived so another thing on my card) anyway, thats scarborough overwith, half 12 ish i head off for huddersfield, and get 8 miles from where im going.. and an almighty pop of a pipe blowing of under pressure... boost hose, so i limp the thing to the sainsburys (max of 45mph arghh!) and call the RAC who have got the wrong reg number for this van HASSAL! RAC man comes and attempts to fix it, tells me its all fine so i set of to do the 2 miles to the hotel and bang, does the same again... typical. Then find out the hotel doesnt actually have parking its a pay and display accross the road PAIN! but its free after 6 so hence why im sat here typing this killing time until i can go and make a brew in my hotel room. oh and its another half 6 start tomorrow! AND ITS TOO DAMN HOT! want a new van with aircon :(! Argh rant over!

Blue with high rise spoiler Sainsburys Scarborough
you know where scarborough is right?? A little far from SWZ's workshops! besides yours has a proper spoiler ;) This was also a lighter blue, i dont think it was an original colour actually.

Blue with high rise spoiler Sainsburys Scarborough
lol well either way even if it was "super" i.e 97 shite, its supermarket fuel which i despise with a passion, there is a reason why its cheap... Nah im not suprised it wasnt you murt, it must be a good 250 miles from your spot!

Blue with high rise spoiler Sainsburys Scarborough
Was it you?? About 3:45 Uk spec with a good number plate on it in blue with a big spoiler, just leaving the car park, you followed me round to the petrol station (shame on you putting that muck in it!) i was in the white renault kangoo van :)

Daily Drive Car Ideas? Needs to be auto?
Is it an E60 or an E39 though? The very first 530d E39's were not brilliant, the old 184bhp unit wasnt particularly wonderful by todays standards although it was good back then.. The later 204bhp TU varient was better, but the later version in the E60's are much better @ 235bhp :)

1996 models
not strictly true. USDM Manual = 300BHP USDM Auto = 280BHP JDM Manual = 280BHP JDM Auto = 280BHP UK Manual = 278ps (so 280bhp) UK Auto = 263ps (265 ish then) They were the original quoted figures from nissan. However as speculated time and time again, was it really all the same and the manual engine produced 300bhp and the auto 280bhp? Or was this a minimum garanteed power on the fuel available? (quite possible IMHO) Was the 300zx indeed more powerfull than originally quoted due to the gentlemans agreement? (I dont think so personally) (This we know to be the case with the RB26DETT engined GTR, 280BHP my foot, standard cars with several years are often RR'd at nearer the 320bhp mark!) End of the day, with all mechanical things some are better than others, you can have two seemingly identical cars yet one is quicker than the other... I had a made who had two rover 214's, both on the same plate both identical (according to rover) yet the first one he had was CONSIDERABLY quicker! Noticable to even a passenger. Most quoted MFR figures for power output are a minimum, or normally conservative, to cover them selves if they do get a bad one. Torque is now measured over a "range", as an average over say 1500rpm to 3800rpm or somthing daft this means you can give a lower "wolly" figure - MFR cant be held responsible if its not quite up to the mark etc Max speed is another example, cars that will do 115 on the book will more than likely drag them selves around to 125-130 given enough straight!

Daily Drive Car Ideas? Needs to be auto?
Sorry... in a bad mood tonight lol... Stressed out and tired. Aye, well i know everything about everything... lol. Nah technology fascinates me, so although i love the technology in a diesel engine... i hate them. Ive had a few and they are just a rubbish power unit! Im just watching all the nice technology on diesels come over to petrols, (diesels are not really anymore economical, they just have to be clever to get anything out of them), where as a simple petrol engine will still produce some power, take a carbed SOHC petrol engine, still easily get 75bhp a litre out of those if setup correctly. To do that in a diesel you need high pressure direct injection and also a turbo charger... Put that technology on a petrol and you get much better performance and economy. An example ive used before but take the new BMW 530i, the later generation 3.0 unit got direction injection and produces about 272bhp does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and averages 37.7mpg. in a car that weighs 1615kg's (quoting the auto there!) 13.8p a mile The 530d only manages 42.4 ish mpg, so 5 mpg better, but with the 15p a litre more for diesel, the advantage has gone, and its slower because its heavier. 14.1p or so per mile. Not much of a saving with the petrol i know BUT its just better in every single way!

Daily Drive Car Ideas? Needs to be auto?
they wont be if its the old BMW 2.5l tds unit. Engine dates back to about 1994 or so. Ancient, 143bhp and official figure round down for the auto omega 2.5 td is 22.4mpg... BMW's first common rail diesel was the 2.0 fitted to the E46, however for ths first two years it was not, it gained common rail in about 2001. That was the firstbeemer to have it. Common rail was first mass used in 97 i think, and started getting common in 99 onwards with citroens HDI units.
-
Daily Drive Car Ideas? Needs to be auto?
unless its a common rail, a diesel just isnt worth it anymore, a diesel 2.5l omega auto would barely make 25mpg round town! I never said they did make an automatic diesel astra, hence why i said small petrol engines were the way forward... The disadvantages of a diesel engine (smell, irritating noise and performance) plus its horrific fuel cost its go to do at least 50mpg to make it worth it. Even fast diesel everyoen always says "not bad, for a diesel" because its not as good as the petrol lol. Hate driving diesels fast, its infuriating.... they dont rev properly, cant stand that woolly rev limiter where your not sure if its worth trying to rev it or change and let it build boost again. Does my head in. Rant over.

Daily Drive Car Ideas? Needs to be auto?
somthing along these lines?? http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VAUXHALL+ASTRA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-13-41-63-145-4294966635-4294966969/search.action small auto astra! little petrol engines are the way forward, besides diesels and autos just dont work well from my experience, might have the torque but you loose all the power through the transmission. Unless its a proper diesel engine! i.e 3.0 plus!

how do you know it has VVT? What was your method of prooving it? Bear in mind if its from conzult, you have a chipped ecu - which in the interest of supporting all cars with a 16bit ecu the chip's map would have vvt even if in your car it didnt use it.

A Government Poem.
Lol! Now if that was studied in school people would pay attention!
