  1. Only in a re-run-in ;)
  2. Mini-meet then - sure you don't wanna wait til I can run some boost?.. like, next week :D
  3. YES! :D Finally, mine's on the road and I don't feel like a Mondeo driving wannabee! OK, so it's going back for a bit of mapping shortly, but that's not the point. I have Zed!
  4. I've spent all morning running a simulation on a Cray-2 supercomputer and it just popped out this answer: A f*cking big one!

Nice! Never had sh*t like that when I was at uni. But then, I doubt it would've been much fun doing Goodwood in a knackered old Cortina! Noise - bit of a b*stard having both static and drive-by tests! I dunno how loud a Scorpian is - I think I've heard one and it was nowhere near as loud as mine. So the static test should be OK. Assuming mine is OK, that is. You be able to fiddle it a bit by deciding what your max revs are before hand (so 3/4 of that falls on a quieter spot). Drive-by, if you're worried, you can fiddle by either keeping as far away from the meter as possible and / or letting off as you pass it. That's assuming there is only one meter. Your brakes and tyres are gonna get a right beating! If the pads are very low then maybe change them, but if there's a few mil of meat left then use them up and chuck them. Try to brake hard for a short time rather than dragging for longer. Brake too early if anything, till you get to know where you should be braking then get faster as you go on. The more you get your speed right, the less stress you'll need to put on your brakes. Tyres - they're gonna melt, and you'll probably get big chunks of rubber flying off into your arches! That's to be expected with road tyres tho. You might be able to set up a bit more over/understeer by changing your tyre pressures, but unless you're thinking of changing the whole suspension, I dunno what else you can do to improve the handling in the short term. Remember the track is infinitely more smooth than your average public road, so I wouldn't worry too much about bouncing over big bumps! You probably wanna make sure you take out anything that isn't bolted down or can be removed... spare wheel, toolbox, yesterdays McDonalds... Don't forget to get some fuel! You'll be eating gallons of the stuff. Do the obvious checks like oil and water. I dunno about the 300 sump but you're probably best making sure you're up to the max, maybe even a bit over so you don't get oil starvation when you're chucking the car about. Can't really think of much else. Sounds like you're gonna have a good day. Look out for the back ends of those slow Fiestas! :)
  6. Check the rides section. Or click here. Or tap the dots below ;) The list is kinda out of date now, but I'll fix it one day soon. No major changes except the roller-bearing T28s, some Goodyear F1's and a Racelogic TC box waiting to go in. Oh, and the engine's back in, obviously! Macca - dunno if it'll be running at 2 bar in the next 10 days! 1 bar alright? That's the minimum I can limit the turbos to! :D Martin - don't think I'm /ever/ gonna forget that wait! I get what you mean tho. Don't wait til you can afford it before you book it in! Jock - mushroom cloud / silver lining ;) Ed (and everyone else!) - cheers! TC - steady as I can. It's /so hard/ trying to stay off boost! The big blue numbers on the AVC-R help tho ;) McGroves - how mini? You mean you, don't you?! Noone wants to perve over my motor - it looks exactly the same as it did at the last Essex meet (6 months ago?)! Apart from the obvious extra electrical bits. If you've got a jack and a torch you could possibly have a look at the turbos. Still, if it's an excuse to get together for a p*ss-weak shandy, I'm there! Must sleeeep. More miles tomorrow. Shell are gonna love me. I did 27 quid of fuel yesterday, and probably burnt a bit more than that again tonight. Anyone want anything delivered anywhere? Or need a lift? MrP - sorry I didn't ring. Before I knew it, it was 1am and I was driving round Beckton!
  7. He's standing in front of a mermaid?!
  8. LMAO :D I like.
  9. Yeah Stu - I'll come to the Pod in Jan. I h'aint gonna commit right now to saying I'll run for sure tho. I'm such a chicken! :) Do you think they'd let me get a rolling start so I don't tear my box to bits?! It's possible I'll run it. Macca - it's a bit hard to tell how it will be running, cos it's still sub-3K and 0psi. But so far it's suuuuhhweeeet! It's rolling around happily and doesn't really bog down or stutter, or anything like that. TBH, I doubt you'd even notice it's been cam'd at all at the moment. It definitely sounds different to others tho - growls more for sure. When you next down this way?
  10. Aaaarrrrgh! It's all blown up and fallen to bits!!! Nah, just kidding ;) S'pose I shouldn't joke about that really. Checked the oil earlier, fully expecting it'd need topping up, but it didn't. It was so clean it looked like it'd come straight out the can! :) Cheers for your comments. It's kinda weird running it in again - feels very familiar. I'm still having a lot of fun tho. I'd forgotten what it's like to have a car that actually goes round bends! I'm p*ssing everyone off again... not slowing down for roundabouts, but not accelerating hard out of them either - very confusing for people behind when they come charging up (and eventually catch up) wondering why I've not got my foot down :D S'funny how many people are getting out of my way on dual carriageways, when I don't really need them to. Well, not yet anyway. Run in by the weekend?.. hmm, maybe! Dunno if I can keep doing that sort of mileage every night tho. Maybe next weekend. TBH, I have nothing to show off until the run-in's finished. I will be out driving about, so I might drop in for a cuppa MrP. PM me your phone number (again) and I'll give you a ring. Anyone else around here wanna come for a long, boring, sub-3K ride you're welcome too. I fully recommend you wait til it's running good tho - you'll be way more impressed.
  11. To some people on here that might not really mean much, but I know there's a few that'll understand (cheers guys ;) ). This is a kinda momentous occasion (for me anyway) - I've been waiting to post that line here for soooo friggin' long! You would've thought I'd had enough time to come up with something interesting to say. Well, I haven't (got anything that is - I've certainly had enough time tho). I arrived home in my Z, didn't find any full-on brass band or cheerleaders welcoming me back... in fact, today was really quite a typical Monday. The weather couldn't have been more stereotypically English - absolutely shyte!.. dark, wet, cold, leaves everywhere, wind, rain that didn't wanna form into decent sized droplets... you get the picture. Rewind to earlier: I'm sat at work thinking I might actually go pick my car up this evening, but I've thought that so many times before it's got to the point where it doesn't actually mean anything. It possibly means I should be getting ready for some more bad news. This is the exact place I didn't wanna be in... so, I cheated. Rewind to /even/ earlier: I *knew* if I went into work early (pre-lunch ;) ) I'd have longer to sit around wondering what's going on with my car. So I got up (11am-ish) and drove (the Mondeo) straight to SE. When I got there, something strange was happening... there were people working on my car. No, stranger than that... these guys were finishing off fixing the minor problem that'd meant I couldn't have my car back before the weekend. This did not compute... it's around lunch, and a job is almost finished?! It's not 11pm, and Pete's not there yanking large clumps of hair out trying to do it all on his own?! Woah!.. hold on, this looks really positive.. maybe I'd better shoot into work and ride out the rest of the day, acting like it's just another Monday?! So... forward in time again... I get to SE (again) after work and they're winding my idle down a bit - no big thing. I can tell my car wants me back because it's got that glint in it's eye. It's purring so loud at idle that the glass divider between shop and comfy sofa is rattling like a good-un. Before I knew what was what, I was handing over the Mondeo key and being given my titanium Z key. But... um... what?! I'm gonna have to drive this thing now?! But... but...! I step in and fall into the drivers seat. I fire up the ignition and immediately can't believe how noisy this bad-boy is! (I've been driving a Mondeo for 6 months, dammit!). After eventually remembering where the wipers were, and being mesmerised by my new AVC-R for probably a good few minutes (small things / small minds, etc) I drop it in gear and stab the go-pedal. OMG! There's only 60 miles on the clock and I can't even go +ve boost til the run-in's complete, but it still felt like this is an evil monster that needs to be set free. It's running so smooth at low RPMs... and I'd forgotten just how easy it is to drive. It's so tempting to jam my foot to the floor, but I'm gonna be sure to get that 1000+ miles down before doing anything stupid like that. I've waited too long to go f*ck it up in no time. So, right now I'm nothing but a big sack of happiness. If I'm not around here much from now on it's because I'm out racking up miles. I managed 200-odd tonight, hence my late post :D I've really gotta go to bed now, so I can get up and do some more miles! I just hope I don't wake up and this has all been some kind of nasty dream (the engine's nowhere near finished!).

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!! Was that OK? ;) Got a sore throat now... must sooth with cold beer.

Hello? 51xmon... no? Yes! Both our cars are at SE - it's true you know :) Gonna shoot up there in a bit and sabotage Andy's ;)

I'm such a girl... I dunno if I wanna do 1/4's in case my box blows up (gearbox, not my @nus!.. although that's possible too). Might be kinda quick on a track, but certainly not with me driving! ;)
  15. Oh, blinkin'eck! I dunno what I was thinking - possibly 'orrible Merc colour! Did they make Z's in silver-grey? Maybe. Granted - gunmetal grey is completely different. Where's that stealth modulator gone? I normally put more thought into these poll things, you know! :)
  16. Ah, well I realise anything can start a war round here ;) Maybe I should've said "production" colour cos that'd include blue, right? See, after this, we'll be able to get the Photoshop boys to create a picture of the typical (statistically represented) Zed owner who... .drives a red Z (I bet) .listens to rock music .has either UK or Jap Z (who cares?) .isn't homosexual What other stats could we include? Your bird is: brunette / blonde (or ging-a I s'pose :) ) - anyone done that yet?! Hmm.
  17. Feck me... that was quick! Must have been AndyP! ;)
  18. B0LL0CKS! I knew I'd forget a common colour! Should I start again - there's only been 9 votes? I'd edit it in, but you need to be a mod to do that. Any nice mod wanna help out? Sorry Chris - must be Monday or somink
  19. Ah, but this is for todays people :) So everyone's gonna vote... a bit like the "Wot you got?" thread - which kinda proved the UK / Jap split here is about 50/50.
  20. More interesting(?!) statistics... Sorry for the "other" box, but hey - you h'aint got a common colour!
  21. Any chance of a photo? Just so we can all say: look at the ports on that! :)

The speed limiter is a function of the ECU - in a standard Jap EPROM it's set lower than UK. If the convertor was simply tricking the dial into reading a modified speed, the speed limiter would be in exactly the same place. So it must be giving the ECU (and HICAS module, and dial) the wrong information. HICAS (theoretically) won't come in at 30mph (or whatever it is) like it should. But Cerina doesn't have HICAS anyway, does she?
  23. The earths magnetic field, by any chance? :D Sorry, couldn't help myself. Sounds like a lovely bit of kit. I'm sure you'll be able to do something with it. If you really can't, you're welcome to chuck it in my bin any day - I love useless gadgets.

Sounds like a generic stag-night to me (fnarrr!) :D
