gto autobox
Is it a twin turbo or an NA?. I dont think for £400 its a bad price but these cars are like zeds, ie they can be a money pit if you are gonna fix them up, if you are gonna break it for spares then I would think you would get £400 back no problem for parts. Maybee not something you thought about but its worth it with these cars. He says the fluid overheated........sounds like a terminal gearbox for a kick off, gotta be clutch damage=gearbox overhaul/replacement. Cheers John

lol sounds typical responce from forum members, I have Mitsubishi manuals on my pc but none for the GT0. I think Indian ZX has a GTO or has had a gto, seem to remember him mentioning it in a post, might be an idea to pm him. Cheers John

I havent worked on a GTO before, might be an idea to sign up for a GTO forum and search there, would imagine the box out would be a full strip down, dont think they are the easiest to work on. HTH Cheers John

Check the oil, should be red, if its brown or black its cooked, will be a burnt out clutch, could be electrical with a solenoid breaking down with heat but it does sound mechanical ie clutch fault in the box but until you check the oil its a bit if a guessing game. Cheers John

Need a positive and negative wire in engine bay
Can you not run a feed from the battery and fuse it? Bolt the earth onto the body or run it back to the neg terminal on the battery. Cheers John

*&£%$*&£% Nissan Parts Department
Its all about ordering the correct parts, the view of the dealer is that if they order a part thet ends up wrong they will be lumbered with it and more than likely wont be able to sell it or return it. I have just finished an engine job on a coach where the main dealer (Volvo) were given a chassis number, but it was (allegedly)1 digit out (41522 instead of 41552), they got an engine type/number from the chassis number on their computer, the lower/earlier chassis number had a later engine with different con rod/pistons, the later piston/liner and con rod were supplied to the customer fitted to the engine, to which I was called in to check why it was smokey, to which I found no 1 and 6 cylinders had approx 5mm difference in height through the injector hole in the head. Wrong piston/liner/conrod fitted, the dealer have washed their hands, not their fault. But I would say they should have asked for an engine number which is stamped onto the block, but they didnt, also why are they using data on the computer thats 15 years old (thats the age of the coach) as potentially the coach could have had 3 engines in the 15 years of its age, for me 100% they should give out no parts without the correct info. You can slate the dealers all u like, for me in most cases correct parts are ordered if the correct info is given by the customer, but then there are good people out there working for some dealers, not many, who will check/source parts correctly and are generally helpful. Then again there are the unhelpful ones, but thats another story. Just my 2p's worth. Cheers John

What can I do?
My situation was different from yours in that stuff got lost, I can see what u mean with him putting the low starting bid, Why not put the starting bid higher as you say, would prob annoy me as well but in the end ya got yer cash back, abay at its best I am afraid. Cheers John

What can I do?
Maybee the guy is genuine, look at it from his perspective, I have been there with stuff going missing when without question I refunded, I would imagine the buyer was annoyed as well, but to take your perspective I do see where you are coming from. One small point is the guy has refunded so for me let it be. The brush with stuff going missing I had, I would say i'd be majorly dissapointed with someone trying to push the legal aspect with a bid when there has been a refund issued. Its not as though he went out to rip you off, ie list something, take your money and run, he has refunded. Sorry but my 2p's worth. Cheers and a happy new year everyone. John

Panasonic Toughbook
Merry Christmas I am looking for a Panasonic Toughbook, preferably a CF-29, for work. I have used one of these in the past and want one for running diagnostic programs on. Anyone know of any for sale of people who would sell them. I hope to get a P4. There are loads on Ebay that I have been looking over the last few weeks. Cheers John

Two recon boxes burnt out in a few weeks
Basically sounds like the overhaul hasnt been any good i'd say, sticking valves either means debris in the valve block of the box you bought hasnt been overhauled, any auto box thats for overhaul should be stripped fully down, cleaned and rebuilt, by the sounds of it yours hasnt. Cheers John

Fitting Electric Seats in a non-electric NA
I was maybee thinking that the wiring might be there already, on mine its a 4 pin connector going into the seats, 2 thin and 2 thick wires, Black thicker wire is an earth, so the heavy white wire must be the feed, which must have been a battery feed as the seats moved without the keys in from memory. The thinner wires must be to do with the heated bit me thinks as the wires are similar colour at the switch. Thanks for your help and for the replies guys. Cheers John

Fitting Electric Seats in a non-electric NA
Guys n girls I have someone interested in the leather seats from my UK S2 TT that i'm breaking, has anyone ever fitted these seats to an NA fitted with non-electric seats, I am gonna pull out all the looms as best I can, but any input here would be appreciated. The electric seats I have are fully electric, front/back/tilt electric movement if it helps. Cheers John
