  1. Sad thing is these cars are worth more in parts. Dan would you not consider fixing it if you want to keep it or have you just had enough of it? John
  2. Could it not be air in the pipes when u had the engine out last time and the ps needing bled? Cheers John
  3. Sorry to hear of your misfortunes, these cars are ballbusters at times. I have an engine from my breaker from a uk auto with under 80 k miles on it, no smoke, only issue is the light tappety noise from the top end, but its only done about 350 miles since the last MOT, and about the same the last 4 years as its hardly been used and could be put down to lack of use. I'd be after £400 for the engine. Its still in the car in my driveway but easily removed. Cheers John
  4. Normally hammering in a larger size allen socket would be enough, is there enough room to put a 10mm thread size nut over the allen screw and weld the nut on with a a mig welder? I have had the front of my engine stripped twice but it was ages ago and I cant remember what access you have. Also if you can use a 1/4 allen socket, this is slightly bigger than a 6mm, hammer that in instead of going to 7mm which is bigger again, might be enough to crack it. Cheers John
  5. They would be strong enough to pull the brackets down close enough to the rack to get the shorter bolts in though. Cheers John
  6. Do B & Q not sell bolts as well? Cheers John
  7. I am just going out to work but when I get back i'll try and copy the 2 discs I have and give you a shout back. Cheers John
  8. I said the same thing happened with mine when I tried to use a genuine windows xp disc, it sent so far then blue screened, I eventually got the 2 boot discs, one with xp, the other has some drivers I think and it installed fine. Do you have an external cd writer you can plug into the laptop, I will if you want try and copy the 2 discs I have and can send them to you, these are genuine acer boot discs with xp pro. If you want pm me your address and I will try and copy the discs. Cheers John
  9. Dave.......success or not m8? Cheers John
  10. Lol sounds like a plan there, I have poly bushes to remove from my car that i'm breaking, so its a one way job as they will be sold. Have fun tomorrow lol. Cheers John
  11. lol am not trying to patronize honest it helps lol have been there loads of times, been real close to throwing hammers etc, walk away then go back and am sure it will fit. Chrees John
  12. I got mine in over a pit as stated previously, one thing, patience, I work on trucks n buses and a small point being not so much stressed when trying to carry out some jobs doesnt work in your favour, I have on loads of occasions walked away then returned to carry out said akward task. But I agree it did take me a couple of hours from start to finish and I do remeber saying I wish I hadnt started this f***in job, but I got it eventually. I didnt jack anything up or loosen mounts to give you room , it can be done. Be positive and I bet tomorrow it WILL fit. Cheers John
  13. What about the oil leaks what were the cause of them, sorry to hear about the blow, man thats a bummer. Cheers John
  14. Well from memory when the tories were in power were the rates not at 15% at one point, something to look forward to if they win maybee, who knows. I just wish they would all get together and work together to get up out of this mess, easy to sit back and criticise the others for decisions, working together for me is the way forward but that will never happen. Cheers John
  15. If you get one I have some technical info on pdf you're welcome to. Cheers John
  16. I had to reinstall XP Pro on an Acer laptop i use for work, normal genuine xp pro disc wouldnt install, it would go so far then blue screen, I had to use boot discs that I didnt have, but I was sent 2, I dont know if they will copy so I could send you a copy. With the boot discs it installed no problem. As for no cd an external cd drive would prob be easier. Let me know and I can try and copy the discs. Cheers John
  17. I for one wont be voting Conservative, they decimated Scotland's industry in the past and had us at majorly high intrest rates when in power. As for the rest, well lets be honest we can all say our thing about each party, but, are they really worth your vote, new party will be elected, will waste a fortune changing things allegedly for the better but nothing will change ,there will be people saying this is wrong and that is wrong, we will never all be happy with their decisions, then the merry go round will again come around in 4 years or so and we will do the same, say our piece and vote. Sorry for me Politics in this country has completely lost the plot, politicians have manipulated the system so they can claim for almost everything under the sun, can we do that? Dont think so. Then we have the politicians caught with irregularities in their expenses, ahh yes sir have legal aid. Anywhere else or anyone else would be in jail for fraud, not these tossers. Anyways enough of the ranting, I will prob vote labour as I have in the past. As for SNP in Scotland, sorry but Mr Salmond has lost the plot as well and falls into the catagory of typical arrogant politician who has no perception of change in that we must save money, with the scots parliament no expence is spared, total waste of money. Cheers John
  18. Can you not open the e-mail first Alan, then attach the file from wherever you have saved it rather than the way you are trying it. PC's are a nightmare, have had nothing but grief from mine and my sons over the last few weeks. Hows tricks btw... Cheers John
  19. Its 4 dual layer dvd's with the set up file etc so its a proper install, it just takes ages to install due to its size. Cheers John
  20. Guys I have a large (26 gig installed) service and parts catalogue, is it possible rather than me installing to to C-Drive that I can attach a usb hard drive and install it to that. I have a laptop I bought for this program but if I can put ti on a hard drive I will sell it. Cheers John
  21. Here are some pics albeit of the passenger side with the cam front cover removed then the 2 gears and the plate at the back removed, oil can be clearly seen in the 2nd pic but you can feel it running down the back of the plate usually. Cheers John
  22. What about the camshaft seals, mine were leaking on the passenger side of the engine, ran down the outside face of the plate behind the timing belt/gears and dropped onto the air cond compressor, complete bugger to see though, I ended up taking the belt/cam gears off then removed the plate and the oil leak could be seen. I had previously resealed the pass side outer rocker cover so I knew it wasnt the cause. HTH Cheers John
  23. Have just compared the 2 cards with a google, both are PCI Express so the swap should be fine, woohoo bring on a new card lol. Cheers John
  24. No worries m8 I will keep that in mind. Cheers John
