  1. On mine a similar thing happened, cause? My rear boxes had collapsed inside blocking the tail pipes. Simialr to what has been said re cats...
  2. Lymon, I have a jap spec TT, auto. my tubs are fine, but I have to remove the engine so I thought I might have a go at the tubs while I am at it. So what do you suggest I do with mine? My car runs about 1 bar. I am looking for reliability more than all out HP. Someone suggested I run BB turbos. can I convert mine to this spec myself? Thanks.
  3. I feel that turbos are far simpler than many people would like us to believe. Keep us thinking they are High Tech and charge us too much. Turbo Developments in London rebuilt a T3 for £175 plus Vat. And one form a renault 5 for £150. With warranty. My friend has used them for 15 years with zero problems. My two pence worth
  4. At least we have not strayed off topic.
  5. Sounds good, thanks for your thoughts. Any idea of cost?
  6. Thanks for the link. The more you learn the less you understand. If you know what I mean? I have been reading some yank site and most of them feel a T28 hybrid is rubbish. I am not prepared to spend thousands on flash turbos. I had hoped T28 bits into my T25's would be worth doing for little cost. But I am leaning away from that at the moment. Its not as if I want 500 bhp, (well I do of course but wont pay for it). 400 bhp would be nice. So from reading the little bits so far it seems my stock T25's can do that, just. Do you agree? Maybe I will just have them rebuilt while the engine is out. Comments? Thanks
  7. Or the position of the fuel filler, in front of wheel = SWB. Behind = LWB
  8. OK, comments noted, thanks. I will wait and see what others say and try and make a choice. I like the idea of T28's, but wont for no benefit, and wouldnt if I didnt have to work on the engine anyway.......
  9. See thread "big Ends" for full story, but if I was to upgrade my standard T25's, what is the next stage, I am thinking the compressor and housing from T28 onto mine. And if this works what HP and do I need to do anything else. currently exhaust, Apexi, JWT chip and water injection soon. I am not looking at spending masses of money, just a bit of an upgrade while the eingine is out.
  10. Yes, thanks for that. I have spoken at some length to Baggins and he said this too. I have mostly made up my mind to take out the engine. And then I will have the autobox rebuilt, cam belt etc too. Also, probably get the turbos done whiles its out, (my tubs are fine but when I am so close etc). I am thinking of T28 compressors onto my T25's. I know a man who does this, while I am at it. Any thoughts please?
  11. Thanks Ryan, can I ring you and chat?
  12. Updat, I have looked on courtesy and can see big end shells so that question is OK. Alternative to taking out the engine, if I cant so it in the car, is dropping the cross member an idea? Anyone who KNOWS the answer please. Also, where is the oil pump, and should I uprate it at the same time.......
  13. OK, got the oil from Oilman, came next day as promised, cant beat the service. £72.00 and some pence for 10 litres, posted.
  14. Hi, I have a noisy big end, (I think) just starting to get noisy actually. But it gets worse every time I start it almost. So, I want to catch it early before it does any serious damage. Question one, can you do them with the engine in the car? Its too dark to see at the mo. And Q2, is there anything funny about them, as in, are they just normal shells or are they all "matched" like some Mitsubishi's? Or can I just buy the right size and fit them? Thanks....
  15. I wont be for a while, but is it only wednesdays? What times etc. And what road is it on.Thanks
  16. Squirting water onto the outside of the IC will cool the incoming charge by making contact with the IC. Water injection lowers the charge directly, by a much bigger amount, and with the right jets, ie, Aquamist, the different size waters droplets are used at different times. The smaller ones are absorbed straight away, the bigger ones are carried into the combustion chamber. All this is accepted as being good for the engine. IMHO
  17. Moving the timing marks round the pulley would be childs play compared to cutting another slot in the crank, especially in the car. Could a good industral adhesive help, both for the key and then the pulley too. Worth a try maybe
  18. Hi Andy, the pump shown looks just like mine. I have bought two kits now, one was £170 and one £127, same kits. Came with adjustable boost switch and solenoid to switch off the water, pipes relay etc, in fact about the same as the kit shown. But no tank. And 30-50 extra horse's by pouring in some liquid sounds good.
  19. Intercooler spray is way less efficent at cooling the incoming air/fuel mix, I think it would use many many times more water too. Injected it is atomised, so the amounts are small. Many cars use the washer bottle, and if you set it to inject at about 9 psi, standard max boost, how long would you run higher boost than that? several minutes yes, but not that long. Injecting water also cleans the engine, and I think reduces polution too. See http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/january04/300zx/ they run 14psi on poor yank gas with no detting. and no chip.
  20. OK, we will probably do my sons 200sx first, he has a T3 and lots of boost to cool. Keep an eye open for my thread.
  21. If the Pro S is as good as they say, it could be a cost effective "upgrade" for you.
  22. Ordered the Silkolene Pro S 10w50 today. Oilman says its the best, and I need not change it for up to 9000 miles or one year. Makes the cost worth it, I dare say many people think this is too long though, but he should know............?
