  1. so along with the cams.are there any other mods i can do ie headwork etc to help me gain a few more gee gees.
  2. did you bust the bores out well and get them nice and rough.she hasnt glazed up?
  3. clutching at straws here but did you check the valve guides and seals.smoking on idle is also a valve/seal symptom.
  4. thanks for the reply mac.are the jwt stage ones good for this?
  5. pulling my engine soon for its freshen up.got forged pistons,gt525s,555injectors and chip.divorced dump pipes and de cats oh and a front mount.im hoping for around 400 -430rwhp.are there any mods in the engine i can do to get me up to the 450 mark.would polishing the ports in the lower plenum give me any noticeable gains?.
  6. Yes the sprockets are dowelled to the cams.so you dont have to get the dti out which is a relief.
  7. paul is right.dont over complicate things with grades.get a good machine shop to polish or grind the crank which ever is needed and they will tell you.and get them to supply the shells.any good make such as payen sell them as std or +10 etc.
  8. my dads car had this problem.he had a faulty connection at the cas unit.the ecu didnt detect any errors.the cas signals the ecu to latch the fuel pump relay when the engine is cranked.your car probaly started on the residual fuel pressure in the rail then died when it ran out.remove the fuel supply pipe and put it into a container and get someone too crank the engine.you have to turn the engine over.putting the ignition on wont prime the rail.
  9. thats ok buddy glad to have helped :)
  10. Is the car running on all 6.you may have a poor coil connection.if it drops a cylinder the tickover will be low and the car will struggle to tick over.worth a check.
  11. I believe you can get one in if its a personal import.i discussed this with a car importer ive been doing some engine work for and he reckons a loophole in the system allows you to bring over cars with no model report.and im sure the r34 skyline has no model report but ive seen quite a few at japfest.im 99.9% sure it can be done.recently a Top Secret 1000bhp r34 gtr was up for sale on flea bay and the seller said he could get the car in but it was gonna cost a substantial amount.
  12. you can do it that way but i prefer to do it the right way.
  13. scrawni is right you should ALWAYS adjust the drum clearance first as by just tightening the adjuster at the lever you can pull the shoes on and wear them out.this is a golden rule when adjusting any handbrake on any car.
  14. could be a piston gone and the compression is so low the unburnt fuel is causing the cat overheat light to illuminate.being a v6 one cylinder not firing isnt as pronounced as a 4 cylinder.try a compression test on the rear cylinders as they are the first to go.or it could be a misfire caused by plug, coil pack and the grating is unrelated.
  15. pretty sure they are called speed fasteners.
  16. you could have a look at http://www.usedjapanesecar.com as some useful links can be found.
  17. Hi mate good luck with the rebuild.you dont need to fit graded bearings from nissan if you dont want to.speak to a machine shop and they will tell you it isnt necessary.the grades differ by microns which is a crazy tolerance to work with.any good aftermarket shells will be fine such as payen or clevite.they come in standard or +10 etc.many jap engines use this system but it is classic jap over engineering. ;)
  18. you must have money to burn then.already GOT them on my car and they do fit without modification.ive sold two sets myself and never had any complaints.i gave a set to a well known 300 specialists and he was impressed with them for they what they cost.
  19. oh arse should have been 290054604790 sorry DOH!!!!!
  20. try these they fit a treat on usa flea bay 280050424732.have them myself and they come with wires. ;)

if the car is a 91 then you are fine to remove them.are the flea bay cats the ones sold by 2fast2cool? as i have a pair and am very impressed with them.the pipes come with divorced dump pipes which are said to aid spool on the turbos.
  22. trust me you can bin it anyway.many cars on here have had it removed with no ill effects.mine included.one more thing to go wrong as the valves can stick in the open position. ;)
  23. oh and the c02 will be fine at mot time. ;)
  24. the egr feeds exhaust gas back into the engine to aid combustion.as has already been said bin it whilst its out.total waste of time for the uk.
  25. the guys cars was an auto and i did the typical man thing and fitted them without reading the instructions.everytime we revved the car it stalled.after reading the blurb it tells you they will only work when fitted directly before the throttle bodies.your bovs might have shimmable springs if they have no adjusters.
