(This is a serious comment or questioning, it's supposed to be a bit if stupidity)

So if Scotland vote for independence that will leave the United Kingdom as England and Wales, obviously part of Ireland as well is that still controversial as well? So basically are the only countries in the UK that want to be part if it England and Wales? Only 20 people live in Wales, I've been there, some cities but mostly mountains. So are we on the verge of being the United Kingdom of one? Will we have to revert to being just plain English? That could be interesting seeing as it's public opinion that the St Geogres Flag is the EDL logo. Also considering I'm about 40% Scottish can I get dual nationality and rack up the points on my Scotish liecense, just like the toffs from the Channel Islands.

And why would it be stupid scotland have been subsidising England for years with the oil and England have just frittered the money away like a bunch of Wags on a sat afternoon all after there I've been tango'd fake tan.:laugh:

It was a genuine question as I don't understand how they sustain themselves financially. It has been mentioned about the oil reserves but I didn't think they had been tapped into yet? Joely P

I don't know if your aware but there is oil on the west coast of scotland that we are unable to currently tap in to due to Trident being there if we get our independence pardon my french we can **** them off and tap in to the oil which is rightly ours anyway

all am going to say so I don't get in to a big debate over it as I really don't care what the scotts do if am honest. but I bet they don't leave

Prob not givin the immense amount of students in scotland which are able to vote. Backing down over a debate you feeling alright mate u sure your from liverpool :laugh: I thought it was me meant to be goin soft given the fact i've spent near 19years livin up here in my cave, only just got sky recently was like the second coming :)

just cant be arsed today lol

Interesting times. My TV / internet/ radio will be switched off when the polls close on Thursday and back on late friday afternoon for the final result watching bit by bit will be torturous. I will be voting but after that it will be a case of "tell me when it's over"

I feel now that I also need to point out to those wondering how Scotland would support and sustain itself that we are but a very small country with few people compared to England and it is hell of a windy up here we have our wind power and wave for energy we have enough to supply our own electric and sell to England.

Well we dont want to buy it:tongue: so how are you going to convince the private sector to build it iff they have no buyers :D

LOL - what he said....

But really? Wind and wave power being sufficient in themselves to provide even a small nation's power is at best a pipedream; and at worst a sad excuse for an argument by the green brigade...... Truth is, we can really only rely on coal, oil and nuclear power stations for the foreseeable future - until a [truly] credible alternative is discovered!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

It's ok Cornwall is essentially a wind farm, not that windmills are much cop anyway apprantly. They seem to be off more than they are on because it's "too windy"

as for wind not been any cop I have a friend with both wind generator and solar he produces enough for his farm and sells a shit load back to the grid and if England don't want to buy the electric an would much rather stay in the dark I'm sure Southern Ireland would have some :)

oh and Richard I see you mentioned oil that's good hang on where is it that's the main oil city again....... oh yeh its Aberdeen thats i Scotland isn't it ;)

The ownership of the oil is an interesting point. The international law regarding minerals and natural resources states that they are the property of the finder. The United Kingdom, so in a week, their ownership will be split in a ratio of 70mil:7mil on population or whatever the population split is. It's not based on proximity to the beach. And the 10 percent that Scotland get they will not be able to insure!

In my opinion, the vote yes campaign has been mostly based on passion, patriotism and emotion. Whereas the vote no has been more grounded in facts and figures.

England will be better off in the near and distant future in the event of a yes vote.

Scotland will be in a state of carnage in the near to mid future, perhaps better in the long run.

But despite England being better off I hope we stay together, as I don't want to see Scotland, and more importantly it's British population endure difficult times for 30 years.

Time will tell is the only real answer. Il tell you this much though there's been an argument for years over the bloody wind mills here, the "conservationists"(I use that term in brackets because they don't actually seem to understand the environment very much) any decide wether the amount if birds that get snuffed out is a fair offset and no bugger wants to loom at them, population density is pretty low where they are proposed to go, but people don't even want to drive past them. I genunily think they are an unworkable proposition. SolR is coming along quite quickly now though.

Once the oil runs out and cheques stop coming in they will reveal the next thing.

I agree, the vote yes campaign is basically comprised of deferring proper answers with a far card of patriotism. No matter how it's dressed up all either side is interested in is money. We the people both scouts and English are merely the cannon fodder of old being duped into thinking it's anything more than a pissing competition and lining thier pockets.

Don't believe all Alex Salmond says mate - the oil, I believe is extracted mostly by BP (B for British); and let's not forget where the investment in the infrastructure to drill for it came from. So if Scotland truly wants to go independent, then what if BP takes its investment back to [what's left of] Britain etc?

Good luck folks - and they'll be no need to turn off the lights when you leave the UK as they'll most certainly go off of their own accord when the power runs out...

Seriously though; I don't worry about this issue myself - however all I know is that all the 4 constituents of the UK, whilst they have their regional pride and differences, are certainly a formidable force together and it would be sad to tear apart such a strong 307 year old union.

As for Alex Salmond, IMO he is taking the stance for independence, not for the good of the Scottish people, but form himself. So that he can be a fully fledged head of state. Just as David Cameron says, this is not like a general election; wherein you can change things in 5 years time - this would be irreversible.... Think about that, when you go to the polls!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So who would form the new Scottish cabinet? Surely the vast majourity will be politicians who are already disliked? It's a bit like your company being owned by an arsehole, and your line managers a tosser but slightly less than the big boss. Line manager offers you to work at his new company were he will be big boss. Realistically will your new boss be the same tosser he always was, or upgrade to a fully fledged arsehole? I doubt he will become so some of saint with this new found power to abuse.

Another thing...iff this collective Island of England..Wales and Scotland ever had its shores invaded by another Nazi type invader with land grabbing intent, then would say Scotland come back onside for the survival of "The Island" or Gamble on the invaders stopping at the border of Scotland and drink strong beer waiting for an official invite to further there advance North to hold peace talks:D

Yes or No, it has cetainly made the government wake up to the fact that people are not happy with the way things are run any more (regardless of party, they are all the same...) but not sure they will actually do anything about it while they have so many decisions to make "in our best interests"

Personally I will glad when it is done and dusted

Sick of the continued attempt of propaganda mostly from a small part yes camp trying to bully people into voting yes but I suppose it is always the same when the more volatile amongst us try and get their own way

I know I may be stupid but when I see an alleged Scotsman allegedly stetting fire to the union flag it upsets me a bit, i know it could have been propaganda from the No camp but it annoys me that either side could resort to the same sort of actions that 99% of the UK population find so despicable when it is done by other revolutionaries in certain parts of the world

If the alleged action is supported and applauded by the majority of the Scottish population please vote yes as I personally would despise them and would not want them as part of the UK
