So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

So here she is as I bought her :

And here's a quick photoshop to show what they would be like.

Nice,

Was looking at the 19" as my tyres are brand new.

If I can get them to fit I would go for 10.5 on the back and 9.5 on the fronts.

Cant mind the spec of the tyres I have at the moment so have to wait till I get home tonight.

What a hell of a day.

So with the help of a friend all my callipers and brake pipes have now been fitted if what a bit incorrectly on the rears.

I lost one of the brackets for the front right and ended up fitting everything without them as shown :

The good news is the wife found the bracket 10 minutes before packing up for the night so I plan to

have another bash at fitting them and bleeding the brakes again.

After fitting everything and following a guide on the order of bleed the pedal still feels very soft.

My zed has abs but I cant find any bleed nipples on it so how do I get the remaining air out if all

the brake lines to the wheels seem to have solid clear fluid in them ?

Also had issues with the small C clamps in that they are too large for my hoses so I've had to use

tie wraps to secure them at the top.

You've got the rear calipers on upside down mate. I did the same myself. Makes them a **** to bleed.

I like those!

Sorry, I don't.

But wouldn't life be dull if we all liked the same thing.:cool3:

Not quite what I was thinking - if they were a genuine split rim, they'd look nice, I think the barrel is too flat. A decent quality wheel though. I also think you need something a LOT brighter to set that paintwork off with a pop, I also think 19s would work best on it.

In terms of style, a concave 5 or 6 spoke wheel with either a diamond cut, hyper silver or polished look.

I've got a boss. £20. Will bring it to JAE if you're interested.

TPS needs to be 0.44v Lee, everything else looks fine although the revs could come down to 750:thumbup1:

Hi Lee, really enjoyed seeing your car's progress - looks fantastic.

Anyway, unfortunately, my Z has succumbed to the dreaded tin worm and I'll be breaking her shortly. I know that you're looking to get new wheels for yours and I was wondering if mine would suit - 18" Work VR. If you use the Advanced Search at the top right of the page and type in my username - officer19 and search, have a look at a thread dated 29 November 2012 which has some pictures just after they were refurbed.

Might not be your taste mate but I'd be more than willing to let you have them now even if you didn't have the readies for a while - I know you've spent a lot to get to this stage!

You can let me know pal.

Regards

Ronnie

Next I move onto the sensors, namely the speed, neutral and reverse switch.

These are a complete bugger to get into and after getting a good light under the zed I realised that

the neutral switch and reverse light switch look fairly buggered.

Only fix was to get them out so I stripped everything off and dropped the box out the zed :)

To be honest this is the first time that I've removed the gearbox on my drive and by myself so it was interesting doing it.

This is the remains of part of the neutral switch and reverse switch.

Both ends were damaged and looks like they had been tugged at but not sure when.

The other one is more than securely grafted to the gear box and i'm going to have to find some other way

of getting it off as the socket and spanners just spin on it now.
