  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Would a new style fuel rail do the same thing, without having to pull the upper manifold?

Still go to pull the plenum to change the rail sadly.

and machine the lower intake manifold to accept the later type fuel (pintless injectors) rail.

Isn't there some aftermarket rails that are bolt on fitment?

Yeah stock size late type mate.

Ive got a set to go in myself, with a fuel pressure increase they should give enough fuel for the end plan.

What's the difference to earlier ones then? When did they change?

Late 94/95 I think. They changed them from old style wet coil pintle injectors to pintleless.

Early ones are crap and the coils are always charged even when the ignition is off. Not quite sure who's wondrous idea it was at Nissan to give them.a constant 12v feed, but they want their heads examined. There is a mod to swap them to a switched feed.

Early style injectors break down over time......and it is only a matter of time as they will all go wrong.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Yes those. I only mention it because I sat at my computer (in 2014 this was) and planned my plenum pull bits and bobs. I bought a load of bits from czp and didn't realise till I was in there I needed those. It wasn't advised when I bought the injectors and I think they are probably due when your injectors are. Mine were fine but rock hard.

Haha, the fun I had

I nearly forgot about that! The "injector remover 5000" How I did injector 6 in situe I have no idea!

These are the rings, sat looking like an air leak waiting to happen.

Went down to see jimmer today, gave my zed a full check over after the build, even smoke tested it again for me,

Found a couple of things I hadn't noticed to add to my repair list, mainly subframe collars and I need a bigger oil cooler (well I don't but mines on the way out so bigger is better haha)

Still really happy with my zed,

Another big thanks to jimmer for putting up with me all morning.

Why not go mental and go full flow while your at it!

I noticed that the grey plastic housing on my relatively new fog lamp lens were beginning to discolour inside the unit. This has not been caused by heat because there are no fog lamps installed and the side lights are LED emitting little heat, so I can only assume it’s been caused by UV.

Nevertheless I decided to spruce them up a little:

Put some nice bright Samsung LED bulbs in the reverse lights - what a difference!! I will post some pics after-dark very soon.....!!

Then I gave it a nice clean - and clayed the bodywork and windows. After sitting idle in MXD's body-shop for two months, it was covered in over-spray from a red car James must have been working on...... My clay-bar was a shade of vivid pink, once I'd finished...!!!

Probably a waste of effort, considering the Zed is off to Dasstech's body-shop in a couple of weeks - but with my OCD, I just could not leave it like that....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
