Going to start this thread for members to post up what they did each day to there zed. I will start with getting my MOT this morning. So what did you do today on your 300?:cool3:

Not a Z post I know but as I've no Z to work on, I've been pimping my ka instead.. It used to be a bog standard style free credibility killer.. But ive pimped it a little this weekend and now it's looking a little more credible..

I've changed the front and rear bumpers for ka2 sport ones and added the sport spoiler too.. Just gotta wait a few days until I can get the front alloys on as I'm gonna have to leave them on the donor car until I drive it up to lee dents and scrap it..

It's looking better though!

Went for a little drive up to Santa Pod, for the Jap Car day. Plenty to look at, and even a couple of Zeds , in the show area.

And this wide arch, that we have seen before, still for sale at 20k!

I think you've made that worse, it now appears you care about the damn thing. Personally I'd kick a dent in the door so it's clear to all I don't have a care in the world for it, no one will mess with you in traffic either, it'd be clear you go nothing to loose. :lol:

It may only be a Ka but it has given me the freedom to move around whilst my beloved Z is being cared for.

I don't need the car to look nasty to have people not mess with me in traffic, I'm a big guy and the ka just makes that much more evident, especially when people see me get in and out of it lol.

Improving its look is just for my own benefit, as I don't like to be seen driving turds.. A polished turd however is slightly more acceptable!

Once I've sprayed the new additions in the chosen colour Red, it should look acceptable to have just a little more credibility and as I plan on using it more regularly than before, it's got to look better than it used to for my own sanity..

 

On the plus side, I still have nothing to lose, I can buy these all day long for under £100! Lol

I need to get the plans for these sub boxes as I'd like a boot sub myself to go with the new pods for my doors I'm building.

No mate, i just went freestyle and come up with that, its volume is near perfect for the sub.

 

There are similar boxes in pics on the interweb though

Don't let it get you down my daily is a £300 ford mondeo, does 700+ miles on £50, as much as I love my zeds, for spares runs and work, there's no need to waste the fuel... Plus I don't have to worry about where I left it, (unfortunately it is a diseasel)

Mines a petrol but it's 1.3 and screams it's balls off on the motorway.. But, it's good on fuel and I don't have to worry it's gonna get scratched or nicked. If anyone nicked it I'd probably catch them by running after it lol..

It's a good little car, it just needed some pimping to make it an acceptable thing to be seen in. For a Ka it's remarkably good condition as most by the age of this one are more rust than car. I just bought one to get to lee dents to collect my Z. I'll be driving that one up and scrapping it when I get there, travel has only cost me about £15 in fuel as the car only cost me £50 and the scrapyard told me it's worth £55 in scrap, so nothing lost.. In fact I got a set of volks racing alloy wheels with virtually new tyres and the sport bodykit for my own ka aswell as a free ride and a fiver back on top from the scrappy! I'd say that was a fairly good deal considering a train ticket there is £135 from Luton!

Gonna build one myself soon coopd.. Still working on my door speakers though.. They're coming along nicely but not getting enough time spare to get them finished.

Just received some panels I ordered from Richy Speed and the light panels from our own lighting guru so gonna get cracking on them this week and maybe get them done for Friday..

It may happen but only if it goes well.. Any screw ups and it'll have to wait til after the agm..

I used to have a Corsa worth not much more, it was shit, like proper shit, the one up from the 3cyl one. Thing fell apart constantly but it never broke down, never cost me anything(I never fixed or maintained it) I drove around listening to a queen night at the opera cassette because it was jammed in there and the radio didn't work. It meant I didn't have to have to run the zed everyday and saved me a lot of heart ache. I think I still cheered the day I sold it. So 17 year old lad brought it under his dad's instructions for sensible. Me and the wife still laugh about that car now. My point is a work horse is just that, it's supposed to be cool or fun or even nice, just reliable and cheap.

Then again, I couldn't afford a daily anyway with a Z in the garage....

Ive spent a lot of time in rough old bangers and a lot of it underneath them putting things right and you're right about them not having to look great, just do the job.

This little ka works reallt well for what it is and the improvements are really just because the opportunity arose and I'd rather use the better looking hits then scrap them with the car.. Anyways, all well.. The ka looks a little cooler and the scrapper will serve it's last purpose by returning me to my Z..

 

On another note, I just finished messing with my speaker pods and got one near the final stage of fibreglass coating and paint.. Got to sand the groove for the other panel in the other one and then that'll be at the same stage.

Pretty happy with them thus far.. What do you think?

That's not new I'm afraid, my first years insurance was 2k on a similar turd. Fast and furious hadn't long come out and the Saxos, Corsas etc where covered in crazy neons and fibreglass. I never modified anything like that, just kinda hoped if I kept it bone stock someone might think I'm borrowing it from my gran :lol: best not to draw attention to yourself really.

I wish that were the truth Alic, but truth is, the small cars are the ones that people steal and go make expensive crashes in. They're also usually very low tech alarm protection and usually all the younger folk can afford to run.

I'm still a believer in insurance companies charging everyone the same price and using the innocent until proven guilty stance. If you have an accident and it's proven that you caused it then your insurance should go up to reflect that and recover the cost for the insurance company. If you stay accident free and don't get points etc, then you should pay the same as everyone else. An affordable and fair scenario, but as we all know, insurance companies are not governed by anyone that keeps the prices in check so they charge whatever they like..

Very wrong and very unfair on those that use the roads properly and don't cost the insurance companies anything..

Not really an update as such, however Mondo has just shown me photos of my refurbished OEM wheel which he's just completed! Very happy with it indeed! My Nardi wheel, 95+ cruise control stalk and steering wheel cowling and HICAS boss will be up for sale shortly! :)
