  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

MOT preparation for me, had to replace front ball joints, split gaiter and a couple of split drop link bushes that were picked up in the first test.  Retest on Thursday!

The venn diagram of people who like zeds and buses must be pretty small, but for that very small minority, here are a couple of shots from my visit to a sister company today. Had to take the zed of course!

Today I had the second set of front discs and pads fitted this year.....

Sadly the discs I bought in March warped pretty quickly. Luckily I had a spare set, along with some Brembo pads, so I dropped my Zed at the little garage opposite my office this morning to have them swapped out.....

Happy to report the brake judder has vanished - and even happier that he only charged me £50 🙂

Tomorrow I am going to wash and wax my Zed, as it's looking a little dirty 😉

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

As per my post above, my Zed was looking a little dirty - I hadn't washed it since Beaulieu and I've been using it daily for the last couple of weeks, including the Shropshire trip.

Hence yesterday I gave it a nice wash with a free sample of Auto Finesse shampoo.... There was no need for a full-on wax as it's still beading water like a duck, so I just wiped it down with Chemical Guys Blazing Banana afterwards, to top up the protection.

As for a short review of the products, the Blazing Banana is just brilliant - I've (ahem) waxed lyrical about it before. Just be sure to wear gloves, as the banana ingredient will give you yellow hands LOL....

The Auto Finesse shampoo is all right, it doesn't fully dissolve into the water like other shampoos - and it leaves too many water marks for my liking. Auto Glym and Simonise are way better and don't leave the water spots, Simonise especially, even in direct sunshine 🙂

As usual, this post would be pointless without the obligatory pictures 😉

What brand discs did you have on that warped? Shocking they only lasted that short amount of time.

They were M-Tech. I had used them previously as they came recommended, but it seems like their quality has dropped since then..... Needless to say the person who recommended them no longer does 😉

Yep Jim says he’s had nothing but bad experiences with customers using those discs, although Tom seems to be getting the good batches!

Ive had them on all my previous zeds, my wifes TT and my Subaru Legacy, never had a problem. In fact the current zed has the drill & groove discs, the mtec pads and the mtec braided lines and ive never had a zed that stops so quickly!

I concur - or at least I did until this tome 😉

I've used Mtec for years without issue too, but for some reason my last set went bad after a couple of months......

I had the drilled/grooved ones too - perhaps my choice of Mintex racing pads was too aggressive...Who knows?

I still have the drilled/grooved Mtecs on the rear though, and they are still fine 😉

LOL - just go and name names mate.... 😄

But like Tom, I never had issues with Mtec until this time around 😉

Haha, he’s quite vocal about it, so not a secret! Might well be the choice of pads but as you say, who knows?

The starter motor failed on my van, so as the show must go on and sun was out on a crisp autumn day I threw my stuff in the zed, unsorned it over a cup of tea, after sorning at the end if September. Checked the air in the tyres and set off on a 160 mile trip. One 34 year old sports car to the rescue! There’s an irony there.
