They look great! [emoji1417] My rear wiper arm is starting to fade which really catches my OCD eye!! Was thinking of painting myself but never comes out as nice as a brand new smooth set. How much did those arms set you back if you don’t mind me asking and who did you buy from?

I’ll make sure to take a couple pics and update once I get started with it all [emoji1360]

Yes please do update us, as am sure rust affects us all! What product did you get from rust busters? I was looking at Bilt Hamber POR15 for some minor sill rust repairs but to be honest would rather use something Jimmer has recommended for these cars.

Yeah my rear one is very bad. I got these of eBay still had to pay £60 but worth it. One of the front is NLA, the rear arm is still available around $60.

Cheers for that, very helpful and yeah definitely worth it. It’s all these little things which help tidy the cars up loads.

Went with one of their kits.

This one to be precise:

https://www.rust.co.uk/product/chassis-restoration-value-pack-black--159

About £100. But after the shining recommendation and watching their vids on YouTube, I’m convinced it’s good stuff.

Hasn’t arrived yet but looking forward to getting cracking with it. Just going to be patient and take my time and treat & coat everywhere I can get to. Patience isn’t my strong point normally, but trying to learn to be more and more. Especially with zeds ?. Learn to enjoy the process. ??‍♂️

Finally started to strip and clean everything on my engine.

The main block has been stripped for a while but it was time for the heads to be done.

Removed all the retainers, springs and valves and gave everything a good clean.

To protect the cams they are steeping in a bath of oil until they are ready to go back in.

All the cam caps and valves have been carefully placed so that they also go back in the proper order.

So very jealous Richard... Just got my car back on the road today with my replacement wheels, and it rained half the day [emoji31] See my project thread for pictures of the new wheels. I went with your recommended offsets of ET25 and ET35 which worked out absolutely perfectly so a huge thanks for letting me know this.

Nice one Naz - I shall go and take a look mate....:classic_cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So last week, progress on my new suspension suddenly halted after I managed to round off the 2 14mm nuts on the FUCA bracket. Drivers side came off no issues, went round to the other side and nothing but problems trying to crack both lower nuts.

55C54B41-575A-4122-B5CB-8A78D6E35B75.thumb.jpeg.52126e1054c4308406a2293916ee25bd.jpeg

Main problem was my sockets being 12 point sockets. So ordered a set of 6 point online and waited patiently. They turned up today and with a little persuasion from a mallet, fit snuggly onto the nuts. Came off piece of cake. Lesson learnt. 12 point sockets are rubbish.

Now I had them off, needed to get the old bushings out as I have a set of whiteline adjustable bushings to fit in their place. So, hammer, chisel (and no vice...) and before long all bushes out (and my worktop slightly destroyed ?).

Annnnnd finally my Rustbuster kit turned up. So before I set about throwing the suspension back together, I’ll be treating any rust in and around the arches and suspension components (eventually the whole underside). ?

Should keep me busy for a while!

First job of the day; grease up the new coilovers ready to fit in due course.

Luckily no damage and on a pre assembly they spin freely now.

Awesome news mate. What a nightmare you’ve had with this build ? glad to see you’re still motivated and still going at it ?

Will be worth it all in the end, your car will be one of the best in the country once finished ??

Before i dismantled them the spindles were very tough to rotate but after being cleaned
and oiled up they spin freely enough and the blades also have no signs of damage.

That’s great news and glad some positivity has come your way. Looking forward to seeing the progress so keep us posted!

Well, been a while since I've been in here and i guess this post isnt so much what i did today, rather what ive been doing for the last year and a half! Lol.

I will start by saying I'm much less heavy in the wallet, but far more invested in a car.

After buying the car ive made the following improvements..

Full stainless steel blue flame exhaust system

All plenum deletes done

Complete rear subframe rebuild with polybushing throughout and new ball joints and oem hardware

New 99 spec spoiler

Custom front sidelights and indicators

Afterburner style venom rear lights and new oem 99 spec centre panel

Brand new oem 98+ spec manual gearbox fitted

And the latest work waiting to be done

New genuine nissan oem engine bay wiring loom

Full front and rear Akebono 370Z brake upgrade kit with 14" rotors

And im pretty sure theres more thats been lost in the hazey pile of receipts

Been a pretty enjoyable yet expensive journey so far!

Never failed an mot in my ownership either,  in fact even the MOT guy has asked how i manage to keep her as good as she is!

But gone from someone elses car i bought to a lovely lady that i heavily invested in making my own car that i am very proud to own and drive!

Being maintained by the best in the business too, and i owe a big thanks to jimmer at powerzed for the miracles he always achieves.. she drives like a dream since he has been under the bonnet and i couldnt and wouldnt recommend anyone else to look after a Z properly!

She's even won some awards and trophies too!

Still chasing that best in show trophy though! We can always dream huh! Lol

She will always be the best in my show though!

Happy Zedding folks and hope you're all well and keeping safe!

Hope to see you at some shows when all this blows over!

Today, I swapped out my ABS ECU, inside the rear offside interior panel - only cost me £15 from Banzai Breakers and it does seem to have reduced the groaning sound somewhat. There's still some intermittent creaking noises coming from the ABS pump area, but they are much less frequent now.

Whilst I had the rear seat out, I gave the whole interior a nice deep clean - including behind the interior panels - I also used a liberal quantity of Autoglym interior shampoo on the carpets and over-mats. They smell nice and fresh now:classic_biggrin:

Then I gave the leather another treatment with Gliptone conditioner......:classic_cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
