  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Just to clarify there, the first one is 2 wheel drive, the second one the Sapphire is 4 wheel drive, both are RS Cosworths, both are making huge money these days, not sure why but that is the market at the moment, both have the same DNA in their structure, always preferred the slightly less lairy looking sapphire so I could take the family out in it as well as the wife used it to go to work.

Now a genuine three door RS500 now that is a whole different angle on the Cosworth spin, as is the Escort Cosworth, not that they did it for me to be honest.

Jeff

Cheers for the clarification there Jeff.

There is another as well isn't there, the Sierra XR 4x4 which had a Cologne v6 that cosworth had had thier way with which was known as the 2.9 BOA. It had that little extra window at the back.

All correct, but to add the sapphire in the picture is 4 wheel drive based on age, the vented bonnet and the 4x4 badge on the front wing !! the Escort Cosworth used the 4 x 4 Sierra platform but shortened over the diff area.

Jeff

Agreed . My 2wd sapphire was F reg.. Like you I bought it for its practicality as I had a wife, child and Samoyed all to take to our holiday home at Scarborough.

Time you old farts started a Ford appreciation thread all of your own! ;)

I thought the "Cosworth" version of the Cologne v6 was only installed in the Scorpio....? Sierra xr4i and xr4x4 only had the 12 valve engines - albeit of both 2.8 and later 2.9 litre / 150bhp capacity. The Cosworth re-worked version had a 24v head, around 190bhp, and arrived much later....??

Oh yeah, silly me, haha - well the installation of axle stands should of been his first job .

At Jimmer's again today for a FUCA rebuild with updated and uprated bushes. Feels fantastic now! I'm still going to replace them eventually with whiteline adaptors and stock links, but this will do for the road trip!

Thanks mate. Ride is fine, the FUCAs I have are the Z1 Street control arms with the bushings rather than the bearings. Unfortunately I had a very early set and they had the old bushings in which Energy Suspension cocked up on the design. Needless to say they weren't up to the job. Z1 sent me a bush upgrade kit FoC and today it was fitted. I still intend on going over the stock arms with the Whiteline cam adjuster as I want a maintenance-free solution, but Jim did a great job today on getting everything swapped out. Feels so much better.

Painted a jdm nose panel and the stillen lip yesterday so had to fit them today. Color was of course much shinier than my car so had to polish it. Spent the whole day detailing it [emoji14]

Sounds like the wire feed rollers are slipping, check the grip on the roller by feeding the wire pinched between finger and thumb, should feel resistance before slipping.

Also, check you have the feed roller to match the wire diameter, there will be markings on the roller matching the groove size in relation to the wire size.
