  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

The kids woke me at 6 this morning so went for an early drive to Parkgate with the sun being out. Too early for ice cream though. She's looking really good after Keith sorted the couple of little rust spots.

Looking good mate....

All I did to my Zed over the weekend, was drop it off at Jimmer's for a heater matrix replacement!!

Had a nice, trouble-free run down to Bristol; despite the matrix leaking a bit...

I shall look forward to collecting it next week, back in good health, after Jimmer has worked his magic:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I spent Saturday picking bits off the breaker.. Got a blue dash, the bar under the dash, hicas steering column unit, bonnet in fairly good condition (other than a couple of pin dents) heater matrix and box. Matrix was perfect but someone cut the connectors off to get it through the bulkhead??? Why???

Starter motor, air con pump, various pipes for the turbo system etc.. Got nuts, screws and bolts everywhere!

Still got to take all the suspension, diff and subframes off..

Other than those and the front rear screens and quarter glass, she's almost a shell ready for the metal yard.. Unless of course you want a shell? Sills will require work but other than that it's quite clean I believe..

Went to my buddy's house to get the bilstein shocks I bought from him. The shocks only have 10k miles. I will be putting them on the front since my current ones are leaking already.

Well, look at the weather! Time to get the targas out for the trip to work tonight me thinks!

I went to physio in Newmarket with the targas off what a great drive.

I have briefly come out of retirement to amend/update something i did for someone 18 months ago, switchback halos are available these days :cool3:.

Only quickly rigged up, running or side light.............

That switches to a good strong amber when you signal, it then returns automatically to the white once the stalk is cancelled :).

I fitted the carbing strut brace and give the old girl a thorough clean.

Excellant work as usual but just remember if the white halo is the only means of a position light then this setup is an mot fail

You can fix it by rotating the picture

It doesn't seem to matter how far along you get, the list never gets any shorter!

This coming from the guy with the impeccably clean Z

If mine was as clean as yours Joely, my list would consist of wax and... Polish??? Can't think of anything else right now lol.

I'm sure you've got a list longer than most by now that you've checked off so far.. I certainly haven't ever found fault with it.

One to be admired for sure

Now you just need to fit a Carbing rear strut Chris. I found it makes quite a difference to the feel of the car's handling.

I didnt really think it would make any difference on the rear andrew as the top of the suspension is bolted on to a box section running across the width of the car.

Maybe it is something i should consider if you feel it does make a noticeable difference.:thumbup1:

Infact the front and rear of a 300zx don't lend themselves to a strut brace. The lateral load is across the sub frames, particularly in the rear. That's why the struts are held in with practically cheese, they aren't structural as such.

Unfortunately though the TT body dos flex and the rear bar helps here. The biggest flex is in the front rails to body on the monoqote chassis.

Well opened the garage to the zed today for the 1st time since last autumn and discovered my garage roof was letting in rain water luckily i had a plastic sheet on from working on her last year to keep the crap of the bodywork and it acted like a funnel and the water ran of the car ... so today had to buy a rainproof cover which took some finding and now i gotta look at the garage roof ... if i'm lucky maybe get to work on the car sometime
