  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

As I am SHORT...... Thank you JaiKai for reminding me......

I stripped, treated any surface rust and repainted the Front upper control arm, mounting bracket and shock absorber today.

Yesterday I stripped the front and rear hubs, wire brushed them and painted them with aluminium coloured spray.

I stripped the brake disc backing plates, rust treated them and repainted them in 4 coats of satin black HT paint.

I have also painted the vented section and the middle of the front brake disc in satin black VHT paint to keep off the rust for a while.

After........IMG_1550.jpg

I used brass wire wheel on a drill to remove the corrosion and the AutoGlym wheel silver to paint it.....

The satin black was some Halfrauds VHT brush on paint......

I hate iphones........ always end up wrong way round..... lol

Cracking work mate nice one :thumbup1:

Todays work........ got in early at 6am and finished in my lunch break...... in all about 2 hours of wire brushing and painting........ :innocent:

I also painted the shocks..... but no pics, and all the wheel arches are now cleaned and painted satin black........ lol

I have been a bit busy!

All I have left to do is media blast the O/S front leg, sand it smooth where the corrosion has left pitting, rust treat with zinc primer and then spray it..... should be done thursday evening....

Hopefully paint all the callipers tonight with the foliatec calliper paint I got...... still unsure of the carbon colour though with body colour and satin black suspension setup... it matches the new brake lines though...

Then reassemble all the suspension on weekend and bleed the brakes fully...... oh and I have fitted goodridge speed bleeders all round to make it easier....

Oh and I forgot, change the track rod end, ball joint boots...... for ones that aren't in bits...... lol

My drivers side window slider bolt was showing signs of wear so I started replacing them yesterday. Such an awkward job to get at the bolt to replace it but got there in the end. Think I will leave the passengers side till after Coventry. Before and after pics.

This also tightened the window into the targa rubber so it has made it more water tight.

These aren't a bad little thing i bought for just a few pounds, tells me the battery voltage in real time and a temp gauge also.

Illuminates to match my interior and don't forget, the 5v usb charger .

That's pretty useful, what's the temp reading about?

Just temp in the cabin, notice the short black 'probe' - it was parked in direct sunlight today hence the high reading.

Fit my Winfactory bonnet struts that Richie got for me from the states .

DSC04934.jpg

They're a great bit of kit, took me 30 mins or so to fit, i've been used to throwing the bonnet right back at right angles for better access and was worried these would restrict - thinking i'd have to keep removing them from their 'ball' but they hold the bonnet pleasingly quite high.

They work very very well and will hold securely no doubt when it's windy without worry of it flying back or down.

I had ordered a set of these along with Testpipes and other bits from CZP Graham, (see "Richie's Blue Thunder Build thread"). Andy asked if i could order a second set for him if he Paypal'd me the price of them, which I did:thumbup:.
