hey im after someone confirming what i already suspect really. Changed my turbos not long ago and had major problems with the left oil feed but thats sorted now. Car wasnt smoking at all before the turbos and has just started smoking white after i changed the left turbo for the second time. Started off with a little bit so i thought it was just burning up what was in the exhaust but now its getting alot worse. Cant really tell which side yet as the exhausts link together. Whats the turbos like for leaking coolant? Hopefully not head gasket however how do i go about checking this is it a simple compression test. Marty

Ok this could be just one of those drunken chats we all have now and then but what would it take to supercharge a n/a zed? Has anyone done it before? And do you think it would be better than a turbo conversion? Get ya thinkin caps on!

Dripping oil and smoke from the exhaust alerted the owner of this zed to a problem. Smoking away as it was put on the ramp the “oil drip” was soon revealed as a gusher but from an odd place behind the front bumper. Well of course the oil cooler is locate there and initial thoughts were it maybe related to that, but once the panels were removed the amount of oil splatter and the area effective eliminated the cooler, further investigation revealed the oil was coming from the dump valves !! Now suspecting something worse than originally thought the offside inter cooler was removed and a gush of oil poured out !! see the pictures below and yes it turned out bad news f…

Thermostats. In previous tech threads the thermostat has been looked in some detail, in the main about ones stuck open and the subsequent low temp running issues which can lead onto lowered performance due to safety boost operating as the ecu considers the engine too cool to allow full boost and of course this uses excess fuel too, here we deal with NON GENUINE thermostats. So check out the two photos below, the stat on the right is an old but genuine Nissan unit, the unit on the left a non genuine new (ish) unit removed from a zed earlier this week with the cool running issues. The preferred normal running temp for the zed is 80C this is essential for safe…

With all the advances in the modern car sadly the underbody protection is still last on the list, the 350z a modern design car, this one an 04 reg 60k on the clock and corrossion already doing its stuff, note the two cat pipe shield, rotted through, one needed removing as it was rattling, see now he should have bought a 300zx:D

Hi there - My leather interior is in REALLY good condition for an all original car but my passenger seat is manually adjusted instead of electric like the drivers seat. Does anybody know if you can retrofit the chassis from an electric passenger seat to my existing standard leather seat? If you can, does anyone have an electric passenger seat that they are scrapping? Obviously doesn't matter about the condition of the seat as long as the electrics are all working. (assuming we can do what I have suggested) Let me know!

My new loom has finally arrived, woohoo! (or so I thought :-) How the hell do ya fit it! Nightmare, I've taken the dash off (as I have a few things that need seeing to anyways), but there's no way the ECU plug will fit though the hole, and you can't see the hole from the inside at all. Am I right in thinking it's the heater matrix stopping it from going through? I don't really want to take that off, heard it's a ball ache, and my driver's seat is fully forward and no battery or loom on the car, so can't move it forward for access, so don't wanna have to remove that too! Also, I'm working all weekend, just hope i can remember where the 5000 pieces of dashboard, h…

Any one done this? Need to get it done as its a pia manually moving the mirrors everytime I put her into the garage. H

Hi, Ive ordered a new dash just like a stack dash and it comes with all the sensors. What im not sure about is the Hall-effect speed sensor that comes with it. Is that the same or compatible with the Manual gearbox? Here is the link i went for the speed camera and data logger upgrade http://www.etbinstruments.com/DD2_lite.htm Cheers Dan

I have a funny feeling the garage smashed up my old heads on purpose, have a look through the pics and tell me what you think? When you look through the below heads look at the hole bits, they look cracked and smashed, are the heads like this normally? is there any reason why this may have been done? Surely if they were dropped or were damaged funny how it has happened to every single hole on both heads! also all parts that come out of the heads look fine. I think they have done this out of spite but who knows, make your own conclusion, i was going to use these as they kinda stole my other heads (refused to give them back)

Hi, does anyone know if you can use bolt on spacers with standard UK spec alloy wheels? Do the wheels have recesses at the back to accept the spacer studs? Cheers!

Jut spent a long morning at Zedworld with my car getting a service. It's so nice meeting people who care about the car and customer at least as much if not more than the bottom line as is so often the case in most places. I had fully expected to have to fork out for a cambelt/waterpump etc but Jeff and Jamie reassured me that the existing parts were fine. How many garages would turn away an opportunity like that. For that very reason I'll be taking the car back when it is time to do it. Some interesting cars in the workshop too - including the mint original red UK car. It looks like it just rolled out of the showroom ! Anyway just wanted to say a public tha…
