General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Went up to bodyshop a couple of weeks ago and fitted all the new exterior trim. I took the targa panels away, stripped them and replaced the trim on them, along with new corner mouldings. Going to collect tomorrow and get it back home! I will then need to strip out the cream leather interior and replace the seats with my cobra ones. Will take some pictures and post up over the next couple of days.

does anyone know the best place to buy them ? cant seem to find them anywhere

Hello every1, have a problem,was hoping some1 could help me with, my zx tt as a rattle/knock what sounds like bottom end, Its weird cause the sound only happens if i blip throttle around 2500 revs If i rev it high [6000] theirs no noise at all, And no noise before 2500, Put it on a ramp today, and from underneath the car it sounds like its coming more from the top end of engine, I change the oil every couple of months at the worse for mobil 10w 40, and dont do many miles, And its allways around the maximum level {dont use much oil, never needed to top up between oil service] But last few days its been getting a little tappy [lifters] so was gonna chan…

went for a 2 hour drive up to southhampton today to go and pick up my seats from Madmax. had a look at all the parts he as got and the car and all i can say is WOW:shock:. everything is top notch and amazing. the engine build quality is amazing. cant wait to see it all finished. Madmax is a great guy and will have a car to match :thumbup:. again... many thanks to Madmax for the seats. they are lovely and i cant wait to fit them into my car. also saw 2 zeds on the way back.

need to either fix the viscous one iv got.. (somehow) or an upgrade? (somehow)...... can you weld viscous diff's? or do i just get a poo'y s13 open diff and weld that up? 2way sound terrible, 1.5 would suffice - any ideas?

Just thaught id post some info, maybe usefull. all the threads saying when you do a NA to TT conversion, you need to use an electronic boost controller, as the NA loom doesnt have the connectors for the boost solenoids (without these conected youl be only on 7PSI) you dont need the TT loom, nor do you need a EBC. you can just wire them to an ignition powered live. ive run each one to an earth (the engine) then the posative just needs to go to an IGNITION powered live. it doesnt matter which wire on the solenoids you use for the earth as their not polarity sensative. dont run them to a constant 12+ tho, or as i have found out …

I think that my car is being a bit mean with its speed readings, especially at higher speeds. At an indicated 75 i'm absolutly howling past the wagons, it seems to rev a little harder than my old one i have to admit! Could anyone tell me what rpm the car should be doing @ say 70 in 5th? then i can see if im imagining things! My car is a TT manual (i assume it has a TT diff!) The other evidence ive got to support this is i thought that in theory if a standard car could pull to the redline in 5th it would be doing 186mph. So at 3500rpm it should do 93mph. Mine reads more like 83! Also to answer another question, does anyone have the stock tyre sizes for a ja…

Im starting to think about the next steps for power. I'm happy with my engine internals at the moment (555s, Wiseco pistons, etc.), and so my question is, what 'external' engine mods would you do with the engine out? Im saving up for some turbos (possibly JWT 530BBs, HKS, sort of middle-of-the-road power), and Im considering those manifolds that keep knocking about on fleabay. ...i suppose Nismo engine mounts would be one, any others? (not just power mods :) )

What rear bumper this is ?im not sure if its the xenon or strosek ? and also if you know where i could get a hood like that, i absolutely love that zed , i was gonna fit a vapor wide on my new zed but i saw a rear pic of it on an actual car and it looks hideous ! and as for the front bumper i think its the west one?not sure if theres any other front bumper that would look better than that one. any ideas you might have would be much appreciated :D

Firstly I am trying to remove the cog off the crankshaft that the timing belt runs around. I used a pulley remover to get the large metal wheel off that holds all the ancilery belts. But for the life of me I cant see how to get that cog off behind it without possibly damaging it?... any suggestions really appreciated. Secondly I have a full OEM gasket set but it does not seem to include gaskets for the water pump where it attaches to the block. It had some kind of liquid gasket on there when I took it off, does it get replaced with the same sort of stuff again? Ta very much :mellow:

just conencted my boost solenoids up, and went for a blast (car pulling reall well!) all of a sudden pop/bang! like a bee*R overfueling sound. car started after it, bogging out. now doesnt start. ECU shows error code 12, which is the AFM? now this is the first time ive driven the car in boost since ive had the AFM. it was a little boggy when i had it, and the mesh was a bit crap, so cleaned the mesh, and sprayd WD40 onit. think ive bought a shit AFM? the car will not start now tho?? shal i unplug it?

what is the correct gear for a power run on a dyno please. now i thought it supposed to be 4 as thats the closest 1:1 ratio but most of the sheets state 3rd gear run. now with modern dynos i assume it doesnt matter as it calculate the loss through the drivetrain on the deceleration stage? im sooooo confused as i have been comparing dyno printouts on some cars and there are some interesting findings

Hello Everyone. I'm Dan from Bristol. I've just aquired a 300ZX TT. (Auto if that makes any difference?) I've been reliably informed that it needs a new nearside Turbo. Where can I go? What should I do? Who can I trust? How much should I pay? I have a very very good mechanic, so mail order parts are an option. Hi I got a Z32 1997 fairlady, and someone has put Recaro seats in. I want to take them out and replace with 300ZX seats. I can get hold of some seats from a 1990 300ZX which is the Z31 Cos mine is a Z32 does anyone know whether the older seat will fit the Z32 easily??

just bought a set of 18'' wheels of a skyline, the same ones that 8ace has in the cars for sale section, they fit perfectly but the car feels unsteady and seems to be pulling me all over the road, i had to use my original wheels nuts might this be the problem? the car was driving perfectly before i put them on. thanks.

I'm looking to see who's used which make or to find the best bearings, as i'm not sure which is the best option for the vg30dett, ACL look a good bearing with good reputation, but they only use one grade, Nissan use graded which need to be matched with plastisize (more acurate me thinks) Z1 use a different profile and machine the crank to use different bearings,,,too expensive what is the mostly recommended performance bearing used ???? rich

Quick one on changing from series 1 to series 2 PTU i understand that you need the harness for the series 2 but is it just a case of cutting the series one harness off and crimping the series 2 harness in? Marty

Hi,i have recently inherited a 1994 300zx and i have decided to keep it as it is such a great car.The only problem is my owners manual is in japanese.Could you tell me what the rocker switch is just in front of the auto gear box marked A/T Power.When you depress it it comes on HOLD or POWER.Can anyone tell me what this does.Does anyone know where i can get a manual in english.Many thanks gdm
