Hi guys, I bought a cubby hole off of someone on here a while ago, but upon fitment there seems to be some sort of gap around it when it's in the dash?? I can see the electrics behind the edge of it. Am I missing some sort of surround to it?

  5. Just been looking over my old posts from when i first joined. my god how far ive come with my knowledge of the 300zx, it all started when i bought a N/A from the isle of uist just off the coast of the isle of Skye in Scotland. Back then, i didnt know my PTU from my TPS, hadn't got a clue about coil packs, or even a CAS. Having been into doing my own car work for some time, i took it as a learning experience when the engine went bang, and decided to fix it my self. Well, changed the engine, sorted out the gearbox, and got it all running. swapped it for a Twinturbo, and my zed days carried on from there. Been loving every minute of it. just amazing ho…

This isn't a 'do you like my centre console' thread. I know you wont, but its the best way I can get everything fitted in. :tt2: I'm after some ideas of how to mount these bits in the console - Can I use body filler to fill the old roller adjuster holes for the vents (obviously need painting up afterwards?) but then I'll have the gaps around the gauge and controller. Or should I get some carbon fibre sheet/perspex etc and cut perfect size holes in for them and attach this to the console? Just after some advice as I've never attacked something like this before LOL :scared: so thanks for any input.

After converting to a manual box, I'm going to be fitting the prop tomorrow. I'm using the original auto rear half and a manual front. As the prop halves are from two different cars, I was wondering if there is any way to avoid vibration issues when it's fitted? Can't afford a one piece shaft at the moment so that's not an option.

... on how the hell you remove the 3 or 4 plastic screws under the rear bumper lip in order to actually remove the rear bumper, but without a stubby phillips screwdriver, since mine got lost ages ago and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. Preferably without damaging the straps or screws before anyone suggests cutting lol.

Guys, any reason why I cannot leave off the expansion tank? I have already buggered up my original one, and now thanks to Vods have a replacement. But due to the size of the new IC's it's still a pig to get into the space without it fouling on the tyre.

After picking my new car up and driving 300 miles back home with it, last nite I had to go and pick my other car up from the airport. Just got onto the m4 when something didn't sound right with the car, seconds later what felt like a blowout happened. Managing to control it, I got from middle lane doing about 60mph onto the hard shoulder. The problem was obvious, no wheel nuts on the back wheel. Ok after getting out of what could easily have been a fatal accident, I thought I can pinch a nut of each wheel and get going Into the boot I go and ....... No jack no wheel wrench A call to the AA and an hour wait he turned and agreed to the idea, to our disbelieve all the o…

  18. Could anybody explain in simple terms the pro's and con's of switching to Q45 throttle chambers/bodies from Z32 TT type I've been offered 2 x Q45's at a decent price but am curious to see what the benefit would be. Aren't the Q45 slightly bigger (supposedly 90mm'ish?) and are they a direct one for one replacement? cheers

  19. Right, so looks like im getting blow back from piston ring failure by the sounds of it, but would of though that oil in the intake wouldn't make it down as far as the turbos pipes exiting from the turbo, due to the high flow of air coming from the intercooler? or am i just looking at a PCV valve change? Basically there is a lot of oil in the lower set of turbo pipes, and also in the ones going to the throttle bodies. no doubt the reason its smoking from idle and when rev'ed. with the balance bar removed, there is like a nice puddle of oil sitting in the plenum. am i looking at replacing the piston rings? or could it be due to the PCV valves. timing is al…

Update moving on from this thread :http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=150167&highlight=cam+covers I have moved on a bit with some of the engine parts that i wanted to paint, my fear was going over the top with the colour, but once its all back together it should be broken up nicely. Starting off with the throttle cover, i sanded down and smoothed the raised letters and will be replaced with these chrome Nissan letters, i havent stuck them on yet they are just sat on top, i need to do another couple of coats of laquer first. Also im placing a mirrored acrylic strip along the normal black or red strip found on covers. Everything is just placed…

  24. Right, finally got some diagnostic software running on the Zed. Using Scan tech nissan, i ran a cylinder test, when it shut off cylinder six there was no noticeable difference, ive got some spare coil packs so when the weather clears a bit, ill try one of them to see if it sorts out the problem. wiring loom is new so don't have to worry about any corrosion on that side of things. But it does still have a S1 PTU As for the timing issue, i set the timing back to 15 BTDC, with a noticeable change in idle revs, they dropped to around 650 and the idle seemed rougher, which leads me to believe that the ECU has advanced the timing 10 degrees to compensate for the…

Gonna respray my scuttle panels - theyre in pretty good nick but starting to fade slightly, after rubbing down I got some Plastikote spray, (got some undercoat too). However.... I have black and the original colour is a dark grey. Do you think the black will look or or just make everything too black, I sorta think it needs the grey to break things up I cant find any grey plastikote at local merchants but can prob source somewhere.
