NEWS ABOUT SE In response to some highly inaccurate information posted on the forum, I will try to illuminate the situation regarding the name change of Silvia Engineering to SE-Nissan. Firstly and most importantly – SE are not “in trouble” our current sales, bookings, productivity and profitability are better than ever. In fact the only real problem we have at the moment is simply keeping up with the demand for our products and services, which anyone booking work in will testify to. Secondly - we are not looking for buyers! No aspect of our existing operation will change as the result of this change in legal entity. As for the name change – well it is s…

I'm after a Z. It will probably be an import (since most of them seem to be). My current insurance company won't touch them. Any recommendations? (especially for ones happy about the traction control mod, which I'll almost certain add as soon as I get my Z...) This will be a third car, so I could manage with a low-ish mileage restriction. P.

I have a 1989 grey TT for sale. It needs a bit of TLC but it could get someone there first 300zx. if they are prepared to spend a bit of time and money on her. It needs tyres, the front bumper needs painting. it's running a bit lumpy but only a bit. I drive it so it's not a disaster. It has leather seats but there is a hole in the drivers one. It also has a big bore Exhaust system ( think HKS)and a turbo timer HKS, 320 km/h clocks, mot until Jan, Everything work properly A/C & cruise ect. I'm asking £3500 ovvvno. The car is in daily use, if someone is looking for a Z and hasn't got £5 or £6 grand in one go them this is ideal. I'm going away o…

I cannot guarantee that yours is the same fault as on my Z but it is worth a try, last september my Z started over heating, I could see steam/water from the passenger side of the car in the area of the overflow bottle around the wheel arch and then back under the floor pan. Again similar symptons of the header bottle being full but the rad was empty. After several attempts to remedy the situation with out success I changed of all things the radiator cap and all the temperature/water loss went away.

well, called the TRAX people today, and they have allocated all of the track time. he tried to tell me it was first come first served, until i reminded him of the fact that he ASSURED me, when i called in March, that he would hold my booking until mid May.... i was one of the first people to call this year and pre-book it, and i also called in April to re-confirm. they are waiting for Silverstone to confirm some extra tracktime, and he will call me tuesday or wednesday, as soon as he knows, to let me know if we have the time or not. I can still go ahead and book the entry tickets, which i will most likely do when he confirms whether there is any time o…

I can't stand it anymore. I going nutz. I MUST SORT OUT THE SIDE WINDOW RATTLES !!!! They rattle when up or down, clunk, rattle, clunk. NE1 been brave enough to tackle this job yet. According to a few members on TT.Net there are a few common parts that wear which cause the rattles. Very cheap from Courtesy Nissan. Andy

When i bought my Jap Z, the speedo that the garage fitted only reads to 110MPH. They put it in because they couldn't get the converter chip working on the original speedo. What does the UK one read to and is it easy to swap? The odemeter is also still in kilometers. Can I swap this too? Anyone got any spares if so?

After cleaning every sensor connector I could get to and the throttle bodies yesterday my Zed seems to be running much better. It was very helpful all the info on the net on how to do these checks. Better than letting Nissan do it for 42.00 Per Hour. The coolant temp sensor was completely shot to bits. A new one is on the way at a cost of £18.50. The car is going to Ancastor nissan for Darren to give it a check over. Hopefully he can resolve this faulty detonation sensor problem. They could not sort it until the end of the month as Darren is getting married next week. GOOD LUCK M8. My wedding is due next month so I guess the party ends there for me!! Thanks fo…

Chris c If you need any 'SERIOUS' advice then dont hesitate to contact me as i have stripped my 92TT engine down to the block in situ From the plenum down the engine is similar to most V6 engines. If you want to find out if a trader has ever done the job ask him the significance of two 8mm bolts! If he cant answer he`s never done the job so dont be fooled ! The cost of repair will be higher than the average car because there is more to remove & rebuild not in my opinion degree of difficulty. One further point if the car has been run with water in the oil for some time it may show wear on cam followers or lobes and that can be serious money which certainly blow t…

I've just heard from a very reliable source that Silvia Engineering (or SE Nissan as they are now called) has gone into receivership! If you want anything from them, be quick! Andy

My car squeals extremely loudly when I brake at low speeds and have taken it back to the garage twice to get them 'greased' up, only to have them start sqealing again the same day as I pick the car back up from the garage. I have read before about having shims on the brake pads and whilst having new front tyres put on I noticed I did not have any ..... Should I have these...? as the Copper greeses doesn't seem to do anything (or they are not putting enough on).

My Z is overheating in a big way. My local gagarge says the head gasket has gone but doesn't want to touch it. The Nissan dealer in Leeds says the gaskets are £29.00 each and including labour and VAT the price is £1350.00 for the job. They say the engine has to come out. Does this sound right? My Cam belts need doing too so I may get it done at the same time.

Can someone please enlighten me as to what the actuators on the turbos actually do? What are the benefits of upgrading them? CheerZ Tim ;-)

I have noticed that when my car is at 95mph plus (on a private race track) and it is raining, the drivers wiper arm lifts off the screen, the blade flips over and it makes a nice arc shaped scratch on the screen. Having a rain soaked screen at nearly 100 is entertaining to say the very least. I've noticed some of you have a spoiler on the wiper arm. Is this stock on later models? If you bought them, from where and how much? It will save me a fortune in laundry bills!!!! Simon Brown Trousers 90tt

Just had a phone call from nissan and they have said that their diagnostic machine has told them I have a faulty noc sensor( not sure of the spelling!! ). WTF is this sensor and what is its purpose? Would this part have an effect on the timing of my Zed causing it run bad and misfire? Thay say the part is £150.00 . Is this something I can install myself? Any thoughts please guys? Cheerz Simon H

It's turning out to be a right pain in the arse trying to find the parts to get my Zed moveable! I've tried Luke@the Zcentre=none available, I've tried Mike@ MJP, I've tried Zxtra but no one is home! and I've tried Silvia. All I'm after is a left hand side tension rod with the bushing and bolts, and a left hand side transverse link arm with the bolts, I'm after second hand, used, abused, crusty or rusty!! And yep I've emailed you Andy about the link arm :) Can anyone help out sourcing these parts, new tension rod is £90 and the link arm is £130! Courtesy in the states sell the two for £125!!(without vat and delivery though). Thing is my link arm has a bracket on it …

There was a lot of talk about the aquamist-system a while ago, but it has gone all quiet again. So, I was wondering if there's anyone here that has this sytem actually fitted in a Z ? Any good/bad experiences ? -Eric

Anyone got any info on this ultra low sulphur petrol that my locals have all started pushing? Anything good for the environment is usually bad for the Z in one way or another =) It was hard enough finding premium, now it looks like normal unleaded is going the same way... Raz

Hi. I'm not starting a flame war or anything, I'm just after some factual information as to which of these cars I should get next. Any advice/info is gratefully received, but I am specifically interested in insurability, driveability, reliability, reliability (yes, it's important), tunability and general cost of ownership (ownershipability sounded odd ;)). Thank you

I have seen pictures of Z32s with the centre rear panel (the one with the two clear reversing lights on it) that just has a "Z" on it rather than the "300ZX" as on the standard. Anyone know where you can get this? Mozart
