I took my car for a MOT at one garage, where, as I knew it would, it failed. I needed to know where abouts it some whelding needed doing. I have had problems with the sills flooded with water because the drain pipe blocked, so check yours. Any way. Went to one garage it failed on 5 places. *Rear drivers wheel arch 3 small holes, *Small hole same side outer sill, +Passenger side under sill needs seam whelding all along?!? +Bad whelding on passenger sill where it joins the door sill, +Floor near rear driver suspension. The ones with the * are what he said was wrong on the first test. The ones with the + is what he said was wrong after the retest, an…

I have a leak on the power stearing or HICAS pipes somewhere under the engine. When on full lock i'm leaving a trail of fluid and it's constantly needing a top up. Is this common? Anyone had this and found a quick fix and if not how much are these pipes? They look like big hydraulic hoses and suspect they will be a Nissan only part at silly money...

Right - if the car I'm getting has Bose gear, then it's gonna go out the window quick sharpish (well man.. it's a tape player! haven't used them for years..).. I know the Bose system has an amp in it, and you have to get a convertor to remove the amp if you're keeping the standard speakers.. Here's a question - what level does that amp expect? is it line level? In which case, could I use the pre-outs (phono) off my head unit? (Pioneer DEH-9100R) rather than getting a convertor? Alternatively, I guess I could get these adaptor plates that I've read about and fit the Infinity 610cs components I've got lying around.. Anyone got the part # for the adaptor pla…

Managed to get a good look underneath the car yesterday whilst the engine oil was being changed. There is an oil leak at the rear of the car just in front of the Diff, checked the Diff oil and this was full, i have done a search on the forum and there are a few references to this being the propshaft seal? Anyone had this and sorted it? what was involved and cost? Also, i have noticed a slight clunk just before moving off, either forward or reverse, manual TT 91, any ideas what this could be? is it related to the above oil leak problem? or something to do with the propshaft? any info would be appreciated. Cheerz Ian.

I think there should be a very small hyperlink at the top of the screen that pays the creator of this site a very small commission every time someone clicks it. Then I think we should all religiously click it 20 times a day so craig gets .23pence a week towards the up-keep of 300zx.co.uk LOL Just a thought, albeit a plonky one! I think the number plate on my car looks stupid http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/senna/chrisf-1.jpg The front has changed slightly since the pic was taken (as has the owner LOL), it has Impreza clear side repeaters and clear front repeaters. But the number plate imho opinion looks like a big flat carbuncle! I quite like Tonys square one http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/lack300/tony_s.jpg Do you guys reckon that a square one would look better on mine and does uk law say it has to be bang in the middle? I dont know what the hell SE made my nosecone out of, but feckers it can take some serious road assault, I hate scrapage!! Glen [This message has been e…

After my recent Gatso misfortune Ive been reading about Radar detectors/Jammers and that GPS system. It seems that Bel and Snooper are the popular ones, but they all claim to outperform the others. Idealy having all 3 gadgets is the best solution but that would cost over a grand. I know some of you use this stuff so what do you recomend? Paul..

The Down Low On The R35 Skyline GTR Ryan Stevens of Velocity has recently given us the down low on Nissan's next GTR: the R35. According to him Nissan has dropped in a hybrid version of the 300ZX's VG30DETT that will use a single "monster" turbo setup along with a massive front mount intercooler. The combination will add up to a power output of 400HP. Due to a Japanese law that limits the maximum output of highpowerd cars to 280HP, Nissan is going to bottle up the exta 120 horses by way of computer, intake and exhaust. The good news is that when these three parts are replaced the power will be bumped back up to 400HP. Body-wise it will look similar to the R34, but wi…

After my 007-style smokescreen as I was leaving Billing, I thought I'd get Ian at Hiteq to check my blowers for me. As suspected, the dreaded rear seals are worn- its time for some new turbos. Ah well the old saying "if it's broke- mod it!" will have to apply. Will have to get me hands on some nice hybrids- can anyone lend me a couple of grand, pleeeeeeease? Dave

Just to remind everyone that I'm now going to let my twin turbo engine go for £1000. I'd like to sell it quite quickly because its the only immovable object left in my garage (which is stopping me getting a car in). Its basically a sound engine. The turbos and ancilliaries have already been taken off. Thanks Andy (01634 221783 or geewhizz@onetel.net.uk)
