August 8, 200124 yr ... Just as I go off to lunch. Has anyone driven the Nürburgring? I have always fancied it, it is reasonabaly priced, but, I'd love to hear if anyone has actually done it. By todays exchange rates £71 buys you 12 laps of the north loop, each loop being 12.9mls, total 155mls! I wanna go. Tim

August 8, 200124 yr Been there done that... and it was awsome, i had a few problems (being over taken by a golf gti, alfa sud, bmw with girls in it lol) other than that im going back early next year,
August 8, 200124 yr Tell me more... Are you able to genuinely bast round the circuit? Are there any restrictions? Do you have to wear a lid? Are there any hidden costs - other than Tires? ;-) Let me know Tim
August 8, 200124 yr Man here goes. you arrive in the pit area, go to a little machine pay 36 deutch marks for 6 laps (that is plenty, only got through four on the first day. no helmets, no nothing.... you go through a parking beam thinggy, put you card in and it lets oyu on the track about half way down the main straight, and off you go, it really is daunting and it is still a public road, but without speed limits lol, there are a few rules that apply like when a car comes up in your rearview mirror you indicate to the right and move of the racing line, but that tells him he can pass you, never time yourself cause then you will crash. they say if you can do a ten minute lap (or around ten .30 sec) without going off the track you are driving really well, it was one of the best experiences of my life and it is 21 km long, 172 corners, the track goes through an altitude change of about 1200 foot, so you are going up and down everywhere, you can only do one lap at a time, i roasted my brakes on the 4th lap, brakes as ever are real important, i found myself changing down inot to lower gear all the time. but on a whole you have to do this in your lifetime, i am going to plan a trip for early next year.
August 8, 200124 yr sorry costs are as such. after channel crossing, it takes about 4 1/2 hours drving to get there, and you can camp or hotel, we hoteld about 8 miles from the circuit in an amazing place,20 squid a night. you could make a decent weekend out of this whole thing. there are dates and times listed of when it is open
August 8, 200124 yr Thanks for the breakdown. Once I've sorted the brakes I'm off, it's got to be done hasn't it? I live just 10mins from the Channel tunnel so I really haven't got any excuses, might try and convince my mate with a TT to join me. Thanks again Tim
August 8, 200124 yr Warren, I'd defo be up for that mate! Sounds fantastic, me and Mattley will be there...I only want two laps though, sounds like one lap is the equivalent of me driving from Stevenage to de Wales...Aaaiiiiii! Tim P.S.
