General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Bit of a hard one this to explain but when I'm changing gear mainly on the downshift and also coming of the accelerator pedal as if to brake, the car jerks a bit as though the gearbox is loosely connected to the engine. I once had this on a mini and it was knacked engine tie bar bushes. Anyway just wondering if it's the engine mountings cos it's done 170K, I've changed centre bearing and rear gearbox mount but it's still there.Are there any other gearbox mounts?? How hard is it to change the engine mountings and are they an arm and a leg????? thanx in advance anyone!!!!!!!

help my hicas light keeps comming on i have cheacked the fluid level and that is ok it goes of when u start it on my drive then after about 8 seconds it comes on if i turn the engine off while im moving then back on again it stays off for about 10 min then comes back on any idears pleese

Well i got in my 'Z' last night, started ok, but then noticed that the Parking Break light was on when I backed it off the drive. Then I noticed that the breaks were 'piss poor' not completely without pressue but still not good. Checked the fluid this morning, and it is below the Min but not empty. There is no sign of any fluid on the drive so I don't think it has leaked but the breaks have never been 'good'. I was wondering if this pointed to a slow leak in the system or some other problem, I'm gonna fill it up and see if it stays. Is it usual to loose fluid over time ? Herman

Can someone just tell me what size tyres I should have on my tt. It is a jap import but with 6.5J wheels from a old skyline. The sizes are 205 at the mo but not sure if this right. Cheers. Paul.

Hey guys just another before i drop off. I got my Beast early this year and during the summer i found when had the climat control sit to 10'& it was raining the car steamed up very quickly,i could,nt open the window because there is no cutter & my shirt got wet,setting the control to 15' & above i got very hot, is the only way to demist to put the aircon on,(F**k***) expensive journey or am i being a tight B*****D! Fitted the new front shox this afternoon Bit of a bitch due to not having a slim enough ratchet but apart from that not a bad job... Will be doing the rears on friday afternoon but the car will still be undriveable What a bugger eh!!! Cheers for all the fun and games, getting quite predictable now to be honest! I'mn trying to load a copy of Win98 onto a mates old pc and get the following proble while loading: setup has detected the following decoding error "setup has detected a corrupt setup (.cab) file." Does anyone know if this points to the cd or the actual pc. I tried to load a copy of win95 and got the same thing. I formatted the frive before starting each time. Thanks Vijay

I will be replacing my shocks with Koni adjustables and completely blind as I don't have a manual. I've done this on various cars and bikes in the past so I'm confident I can do this easily enough. What I'm asking for are any pointers to help me to avoid mistakes. i.e. taking trim off in the right order etc and what to grease up after or prior to assembly. As always, much appreciated. Simon P.

What ever you do, if you decide to convert (or have had a conversion) from auto to manual, make sure you buy (or have had fitted) a spigot bush to put in the crankshaft. If you don't then it'll make a rattling noise at low revs & will probably knacker the gearbox in the long run. Auto engines don't have these bearings fitted so you have to fit one yourself. This bush only costs £3-10 +VAT from Nissan but without it, the car will sound like a bag of shite!!! Trust me, I found out the hard way & have had to drop the box again! Hey guys, I have tried everything I can think of to cure my detonation problem and nothing has helped. So far I've tried running on Optimax exclusively (well over 2000 miles by now), changed to a JWT chip, changed to NGKxx-11b spark plugs from Courtesy, cleaned every sensor/connector I could get my hands on, even installed a JWT pop-charger and corrected the timing to 15degrees BTDC. Still the same rattling noise between 2k and 3k revs under light load. Under Jeff's thread Phil_m mentioned clogged up injectors and the lambda sensor. How do you clean the injectors and how do you check that the lambda sensor is functioning properly? If there is anyone else out ther…
