How much the crank of the engine costs?

Featured Replies

Dunno mate, please tell me you haven't broken one! They're forged to start with and semi-indestructable!

I have made a post about a 300ZX car I bought recently and there was a knocking noise from the engine.

Finally I took it to the mechanic and he said that is sounds like the crank of the engine is broken. This means that I have to change pistons/rings/rods/ and crank all together.

We havent open the engine yet to tell for sure if is that the case but that what he said and I am trying to find info about parts and costs.

The car is running but at 2000 RPMs is making this terrible sound.

Bloody hell mate, cheaper to buy a new engine wouldn't it??? Nelson do one for 4.5K last I knew wink.gif

But I suppose if you're gonna max it up? wink.gif

Tell your mechanic to stop talking

BULLSHIT. If the crank was broke it wouldnt run at all.

If you have a low end knock, then the crank big ends may have gone. This will require a crank regrind and a set of big and small end bearings. If you have gone this far then I would also suggest the following:-

Replace clutch while engines out

Have crank, rods, and pistons balanced

If you have any money left purchase a lightened flywheel.

Leigh.

Or the cheapest and easiest option would b to get a new lump. I have a sweeeet engine if ur interested that will only cost u a fraction of the cost for wot ur thinkin of doin. Its only done 50,000km and is perfect in every sense of the word.

Gimmi a call on 07961 543 786 if ur interested.

Regards,

Kash
