Buggeration. I'm skint and have to get the geometry of the car looked at. The front 2 wheels have both worn on the inside edge only and the steering wheel is off centre and needs a bit of force to keep it straight.....So I phone Nissan (Middlehurst) 'Yes we do that - £112.50 plus vat. Cough splutter! Any adjustments are extra too...Probly come near £200 mark!!!! SO I phone a few places to check further and low and behold a Vauxhall garage in St.Helens do the whole thing including vat and all adjustments for £90 'Its about 2 hours work you see' they apologised Its a sad day when I take my car to Vauxhall instead of Nissan....ha ha ha HA! Just to recap. Took my Z in with engine problems beginning of November, lots of faults found and the bill just keeps growing and growing. Got home from work today and found a message on my answer phone from them telling me that on close inspection it appears at least one and possibly both turbos are Fu**ed. Their catalogue states £475 for a recon stock turbo. Before I ring them back does anybody know of a better deal on turbos or maybe have decent turbos to sell? Thanks guys. Steve. Forgot to mention its a 92 UK spec auto. [This message has been edited by Steve.r (edited 17-01-2002).]

I have a airy gassy sound when I drive. At first I thought it was my turbos becasue it gets louder as I accelerate. However, it only does it in 4th gear. I have tried it in 1st, 2nd 3rd and 5th and all dont make a sound. Its just 4th gear? I dont think its the turbos, cos I can accelerate and the sound gets louder, I then let off, let the turbo spool down, and if I accelerate hard again, the noise goes straight back to how it was, before the turbos have time to spool up. The sound cold also be compaired to when you shake a light bulb and you get a gassy rattle. Its like that but quite loud. Please any ideas?

Press the brake pedal? The last time I remember doing this I seem to remember the car gradually slowing down. However, this morning on my way to work this did not happen and the pedal hit the deck. "OH SHIT" SPRUNG TO MIND. Luckily I wasn't going to fastbut talk about being snookered. I was 2miles from work, ready for work and without my tools. So RAC and Nissan were the only thing I could do to remedy the situation. This is the price you pay for not knowing the area. Am waiting for a phone call from Nissan to see what the extent of the damage is. Hope I can claim off my Waurranty. Boo Hoo!

OK, can anyone out there explain the physics of detonation to me? This has no bearing on my Z and is purely out of interest to satisfy my own curiosity. Why does detonation occur because of lean conditions and not rich conditions. In my ignorance I would have thought putting extra fuel into a hot place would be more likely to cause premature combustion than putting less fuel in. This is apparently not the case but I would be interested to know why this is. Also, I think I'm correct in saying that advancing the ignition too much causes detonation. If detonation is the fuel igniting at the wrong point, it would occur to me that igniting it sooner is going to be be…

Guys, I had a vibration under the car, just about under my seat are and it was driving me nuts. Then over the last couple of days my exhaust which was blowing a little has now decided to blow alot from the back of the drivers side rear box, the vibrations have stopped, was the fact that my exhaust was on it's way out the cause of my vibrations? Sounds stupid I know but....... Oh and anyone know where I can get an exhaust on the cheap side of cheap? (times are hard!) Will the blowing exhaust do any damage of any type to the car? Anything I can do as a quick fix for a bit? Help........ Matty. ------------------ …

My Z's been pulling to the left for quite a while now. Not seriously but just enough to annoy you when trying to drink a can of Pepsi, talk on your phone and adjust your crotch, all at the same time as trying to steer with your knees. The pull is while cruising in a straight line, not while braking. I've had a four wheel alignment done, changed the tyres and had new brakes during this time. None of this has made a difference. Middlehurst (careful Timmy) have had a look and can't suggest anything useful. Anyone got any ideas?

Somebody posted an article some time ago about getting FORGE to make up some big ICs. well i have been in contact with them and they have made some up for a guy who is running a 600HP a race Z. This guy had to modify his car to get them in but Forge say that they will be obtaining some standard Z ICs on tuesday that they can measure and use to modify the spec for standard fitting. My cash is waiting--if anybody else is interested then let me know so i can put in an order and we should be able to get a good price on each unit. Email is: andrew.denyer@vf.vodafone.co.uk

COMPLETELY. Why are we provoking these guys. We are inviting people like Porker. We never had this kind of shit 2 years ago and I'm sure Craig and Nico are fed up of asking people to behave themselves and keep to the etiquette of the forum. Just my view peeps Andy

Hi all. I'm thinking about keeping my car now, if I do decide to, i'm going to treat it to a few bits and bobs, i'm rather happy with the performance of it at the moment, so I think I want to tweak the looks. First I think is a nice set of new allows. Does anyone know a good web site where I can see a selection of wheels with fitted prices Thanks Also, how about body kits, any good sites for those? Matt

Experts: 'Gigger' worm moving slowly January 15, 2002 Posted: 9:53 AM EST (1453 GMT) January 15, 2002 Posted: 9:53 AM EST (1453 GMT) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- A new computer worm masquerading as a software update from Microsoft Corp. is capable of deleting all files on the hard drive of an infected computer but has so far spread very slowly, an antivirus vendor said Monday. The so-called "Gigger" worm is a low threat since so few computers have been infected, said Vincent Gullotto, senior research director for Network Associates Inc.'s Antivirus Response Team.…

I was going to put it in the thread in question, but it's been locked. Ah well. I just wanted to say sorry for what I posted last night. I wasn't exactly sober, and while I don't actually remember posting the message! I must have just been wound up by what Andyduff wrote, and while I'm not exactly pleased by his comments I think I over-reacted a little bit. Thanks to those guys that showed sympathy though - it's appreciated.

Just tripped over this on the Z-car-digest http://zdriver.com/forums/showthreaded.php?Board=z32&Number=6420 It describes how to replace the matt black roof/windscreen trim that seems to have suffered on many cars these days.

following a cancellation by a customer found I had and afternoon to myself so fitted my new Green Stuff pads, and changed the brake fluid. Got to say that despite the pads not bedded in yet the feel is much better maybe a result of the fluid change? that itself was a surprise, the master cylinder fluid looked ok but the crap dark brown fluid that came out of the the calipers was disgusting. Will evaluate and post an update, I might add the disc`s are quite new so bedding in should be fairly quick. Jeff TT
