While I do love my Zeds The constantt trouble and expense has me thinking of gettingshot of at least one of them. Both ar autos and I am hankering for a manual,(always have been, even though I have been driving Auto Zeds for 3 years now). Just test drove a 98 S14a 200sx. Full leather in metallic green. I had an s14B before buying my first Z in early 2000. I forgot how fast these cars really are. I think itwould give my UK spec Auto a fright. My SWB Auto TT would wip its arse but thats a chipped TT with 40K on the clock (Although I've blown the Auto BOX recently and havent driven it since June.) Question By the 200SX or convert to Manual???????

Ok folks... I have a rumbling noise eminating from underneath the car from about 40ish mph up to the ton. Noise doesnt seem to be gearbox cos it doesnt change pitch when I change gear. If anyone has ever driven a car with a very noisy wheel bearing it sounds not dissimilar to that except its a lot louder and vibrates more. Also, if this has any bearing on it, it seems to get louder going round a right hand corner...weird I know but true. Ive been told gearboxes on the Zed are bullet proof to a certain extent. Mines a manual 5sp version..and like I said earlier it doesnt seem to be box related. Could this be a CV joint or similar?...or is it really the prop cent…

OK...up till Monday, my flaptop has been working fine, despite having Windows ME loaded on it. Monday afternoon it had a hissy fit about memory, freezes and required rebooting. Since then, depite rebooting many more times and stuff, I can't get open windows to appear as shortcuts on the Taskbar, so have to cold-switch between applications. It has 256mb of memory on version 4.90.3000 of Windows... Any ideas as to what I need to do to get the shortcuts re-appearing, please? Cheers

ok i just had the oil filter and antifreeze done on my zed, before it pressure would sit around 4 and go up with revs accordingly, after service of standard filter and magnatex 10 40 oil the pressure seems really low and almost below the first marker without a number sometimes, then it settles out to arround 4 under normal driving, its a j spec btw, now i checked it several times and its definately not leeking or burning oil out the zorst, i put in the recommended 3.5 litres and its showing right near the max on the dipstick, am i worring too much or is it a dodgy sensor.

Thinking about buying some gauges, but have had an HKS din pod for them for ages so the size I need is 46mm. How much bigger is the face than the back, cos I can't find any cheap enough except 38mm. Just wandering if the front would cover the holes in the plate. Anyone know where you can get some cheapish 46mm dials except HKS.

I've discovered that I've got one of these on my car(cone type). Are they supposed to be cleaned or replaced when they are dirty, and if cleaned is it an easy job and what do I use? Cheers, F.T.

The hesitation as I accelerate from stationary is getting worse. Not only is it hesitating but revs are now dropping and the car has cut out on several ocassions. Once the car is warm the symptom disapears. Fuel pump and air filter just done but no help. She is becoming increasingly hard to start in the morning also. BIGROY you said you has similar problems and it was a vacuum leak, How did you diagnose this and resolve. does a PTU failure cause this type of problem? Cheerz R

As there are many for sale on the net, new & in box. Which are ok & which to avoid. All the snoopers we're familiar with, but what about the Uniden, Valentine & the Cobra ESD 9850? & more are advertised. Because they seem to be the same spec on detection for £30-£400 for the same model! Depends who's bidding or pledging. And of course who's seen it. Or should i but the Snooper S5 from Comet @ £179.99 on offer at the moment? harve

Finally got round to fitting new Koni's and Blitz lowering springs. Onlyhad time to do the rear so far tho. One of the old ones was completely knackered as it didn't even come back up after pushed, anyway, the trouble is that the springs are supposed to lower the car about 35mm but instead they seem to have raised it. Have i fiited something wrong or is there something to adjust? Trouble is I can't read Japanese.

Harry had a 20% off day at the weekend so being a tight Scotlsman I got some new 30% brighter bulbs and a new smaller calcium battery cos my big 4 year old Nissan one sounds like its going to give up soon. Will pay me £20 soon too - honest. Anyway Harrys book says H1 for Zs to 94 - Harry's own brand is Osram. Not correct after trying I had to go back again and get the even cheaper H3s which do fit. £7.99 each. Seems brighter although I might have had more carrots recently. But I know when they are on now! Boy but you need long thin double jointed fingers to do it - change the bulbs I mean

has anyone had a 300ZX that burnt from bad fuel injectors? I bought my car brand new in 1988, the was a voluntar recall on the injectors which I had mine replaced only to find out with the same bad injectors, when they did the recall my car had already went up in flame I have tried to contact any and all the Nissan place there is in the world. I was sent paperwork pages and pages of it. One document I had to come up with was the paperwork for the replacement of the injectors, which the dealership could not do so I was told they were not replaced. well a few years later, I have a copy of the paperwork at my home. I think this was a big cover up from my hometown dealer…

I have just had the terrifying experience of my local MOT Station offering to "adjust"(!) my CO2 as it had just failed the MOT for being way to high... The thought of someone not familiar with the ZX tweaking things at random to get the CO down makes me shudder! BUT the question is who can I turn to and whats the best course of action for me to take?! I have an imported 92 Auto which is pretty standard (has a mild aftermarket exhaust), but (and heres the interesting part) the ceramic of the Cats has been removed. Judging by the evidence of dents and scraps I can only presume that they have been smashed and departed the exhaust out the back over time. …

I'm still trying to sort this ground loop - radio/CD has a backgroung noise related to engine speed. I got a few responses a couple of weeks ago, mainly to do with adding an extra earth. Having done this - and checking the existing earth, I'm afraid that the noise is still there. Anyone got any other ideas? There's no black box behind the radio/CD, and the noise has only recently happened. Could it be wiring to the aerial? - noise is always there wether I'm listeming to the radio or CDs... Any thoughts welcomed - might have to ditch the whole thing cos being an na owner, I'm with Nelson re mass. thanks Jack

Has anyone used this product? Can it be used in a Z's gearbox? Does it make any difference or if you use good quality oil and change it regularly,do you need it? Lots of questions I know but I'm getting a pre-winter service done and was wondering if it's worth getting some Slick 50 for the gearbox and maybe the engine. Any thoughts, suggestions or advice would be grateful. Cheers, F.T.

More PC help needed as you chaps were so helpful last time!! One corner of my monitor appears to be green in colour, possibly due to speakers being next to it at some point - is there any way of getting the proper colours back?
