Hi all, just want to say first off cracking day at Coventry despite weather and it was great to meet the SE/SC/SW guys and get to my first z meet for years. Now i need some serious advice. On the way home i thought id poodle along and stuck the car into cruise control, all was ok for about 20 miles,it then made a loud crunching sound.I turned cruise control off and the crunching went and was driving normally again, after a few more miles i noticed the car was accelarating but not changing gears at all..it would rev, accelerate but not change gears. I decided to pull off the motorway to investigate and stopped at end of junction. As i pulled away the gears sounded really gr…

So after all this rediculously humid weather, I wanted my air con regased as I've been sweating my b0ll0x off. Took it in today and I had a feeling they wouldn't be able to do it but thought, worth a try. They told me it was running ILLEGAL c12 gas and so I weouild have to go to a specialist to have the whole system replaced!? What is the true story and where can I get it regassed (in essex/suffork) as I can't live without my air con!

Hi all, I've forgotten which way round the coilovers should face on the front. Does the longer end of the bush face the leg or the nut facing towards the front of the car? The coilover looks really close the the suspension leg if the longer end faces the nut but want to make sure. Thanks Dan

...who attended Coventry. Hi folks. I just want to day a huge thanks to all who attended Coventry yesterday. It was truly epic seeing so many Z32s in one place. Shows and meets are only successful because you, the members, make them so. So again, I thank you. My thanks to Ian Greenfield, Harby, and JaiKai who went above and beyond throughout the day with helping me to make sure all was going to plan. Even the weather sorted itself out for us.....Until 4 pm anyway! I tried to get around to see everyone. My apologies if I didn't get to speak to you. And for those who didn't get a goodie bag, please PM me and I'll see what can be done. And …

Got off to a bad start at 5am, maf dead, was working fine last night, so changed it over quickly and although better, a bit lumpy but the engine was knocking a little at the top end. Checked the oil and topped up half a litre. Waited for the 6am ferry only to be told it was cancelled and the next one was 7am due to the mezzanine deck on another ferry collapsing last night, hence delays and backlog. Got off the ferry, stopped for fuel and started my journey, as i got up the M3 the knocking was getting worse and the power was very poor, so i pulled in at tesco service station at the bottom of the A34, where the car died and wouldnt start. Had to wait for RAC to come and d…

Myself and Slick Pete were chatting today about how we got over 50 Zs back at the Ferrybridge meet in 2006, and how we got over 40 cars today at Coventry - how many of you were at BOTH because we could only think of four or five owners ourselves included...

On behalf of the committee, The 300zx.co.uk Club would like to say a few words of thanks regarding the 25th Anniversary Show today!! First and foremost, A very big thanks to Lexx for all his hard work in organising the show - great work mate; you really did the club proud!! Thanks also to those who helped out on the day with parking, and marshalling duties; cheers fellas, you know who you were:wink: Thanks to all the club's traders who donated the raffle prizes - and a special thank you to Steve Burns; who won the first prize (Zedworld's one-piece prop) and promptly gave it away to auction, in order to raise more funds for the raffle's cause. As a result, a…

Ok as per the title what a super well organised meet, the venue was just right with the location central, and a very professional result so a massive well done and huge thanks to Lexx who done a brilliant job from start to finish and to anyone that helped, we owe lexx a lot for taking his own time to arrange this and the forum is lucky to have him I can say I loved every single moment of the day and spoke with many of you guys and I guess missed some but there was so much going on it was hard to be everywhere, and as a side line the motor museum was as super free event too, an all round 300zx.co.uk success. Thought I should move this from the 'Journal' forum and update where the project is at. Wish I was at Coventry with everyone, but these things always take longer than anticipated, lol 20/01/2013 Having had the car for a few years now I have finally given in to the urge for more power. The original engine in the car runs superbly only 66k miles with a proven Dyno run @ 357bhp, with boost jets and a uprated chip & air filter. Not bad at all for a 300ZX, but I was bitten by the bug and was set on going for more bhp and reliability, (I know why fiddle with it if it ain't broke). But having been lucky enough to have many nice high powered cars in recent years I…

Hi All, Well, i got the idle issue sorted. one side of the engine had no screw adjuster ting in so the engine was opening one bank before the other. Also, somone had adjusted the throttle cable to keep the revs higher so the end was slightly off the rest ledge. Having sorted this, the engine is now hunting for revs when the throttle is at a steady position? ie: throttle held at 2000rpm car hunts between 1500rpm and 2000rpm. Any ideas? It used to do this slightly (very slightly) but not as noticable as it is now that i've had the idle revs sorted. I get the feeling that whoever had the car before me has messed around with the car somewhat tryin…

All ready to depart after my exploding radiator hose fiasco last night. Swapped the hose this morning to discover that it was caused by alternator/water pump belt disintegrating. Not gonna get that replaced today  Mods/Organisers please give my spot to whoever needs it. I tried. Have a great day,guys......and take LOTS of pics.

Last week my car was an auto but now it's a manual using a TT gearbox and associated parts. Managed to get the clutch bled after going round and making sure everything was tight, got a few more turns on the master cylinder nuts which did the trick! Autos are easy to drive but it's so much nicer and involving to drive now it's manual, love it. Went for MOT today and got to nip back in the morning for a retest. But it means I'll be at the Coventry meet which I'm very pleased about, the Z is work in progress but managed to get most of the trims and stuff put back together today. So I'll see some of you there when I can get across.

Hi all, My Zed is suffering from a misfire/hesitation which appears when the engine is under load and between about 3500 and 4500 revs. Sitting in neutral, you can rev smoothly and freely without any problems but when accelerating hard, the misfire appears. On several occasions I've been able to "drive through" the hesitation but it's not often that that happens. Zed is a 1993 TT Auto, Zedworld chipped ECU, decats with Mongoose rear, Apexi air induction, HKS ALC, S2 PTU. The car is in good condition and passed it's MOT recently with no advisories, as long as I don't give it too much "welly" it drives as normal. Any pointers on what to look for would b…

I have just installed some used coilovers on the z. I am now getting an horrendous clunking/knocking noise over bumps they also creak if I lean on the back of the car... Are they shot? What should or could I do? Thanks

Hi. I'm looking for to buy a short shifter. Most of US 300zx owners recommend a Z1 short shifter. Is there anything decent in UK that would be worth to buy or should I go only for Z1? Thankz

The very worst I had feared has happened! Well, it's obvious to say my Z won't be ready for the show, not down to me being unable to rebuild it, but because the bodyshop has taken longer than they estimated. The paint job however is superb and the car, although it bits look better than it ever has done. The issue arose late afternoon today when I had a phone call from National Windscreens who said that one of their guys was off sick and wouldn't be able to make it to refit my glass. Thanks for letting me know at 5.30 chaps! Why has has this caused a problem? Well, because my car has taken longer than they'd wanted, cars have now backed up and they're having to start …

HI All, Since i got my Yellow Zed (N/A Auto) a few weeks ago i have been riddled with problem after problem, - Wheel almost falling off due to 3 of 5 studs shearing - Car not changing gear until it reaches 3500rpm (and jerking into second) - Idliing at 1500rpm in park and just under 1000rpm in gear - Blowers not working at all - rumble under the car between around 45mph and 60mph (not wheel balance) - Using waaay to much fuel (£40 is getting me roughly 80 miles) Firstly, i'd like to make this point: "I am Mechanically retarded" I love these cars........love driving them.........love the look..........and although i can do bits of bo…
