General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Have a problem with my power steering. At low speeds it occasionally (but increasingly often) just cuts out. The other symptom I have – which from previous posts I’ve seen I guess is linked – is that at speeds any less than about 20mph my speedo needle just drops to zero. Is this most likely to be speed sensor or kph to mph converter thing playing up? If it’s the speed sensor, is there likely to be a magic contact cleaning type fix or is it another credit card job?? Anyone got one of these on their cars? John set mine up as best as possible without instructions but am looking to fine tune it. I have the installation and self learn instructinos but nothing else. What settings have you set yours up on? (with supporting mods)

Anyone fitted these ?. Do you know if you need to fill all the bolt holes ?. What I mean is do the bolt holes link the the inside of the IC ?. I only used two of the bolt holes on each IC and I have a bit of a large boost leak. Where I'm usuaully running 16 psi I'm getting about 10.5 :eek:. I'm thinking that this mat be the cause. If someone from the group buy hasn't fitted theirs yet can you do me a favour and blow into the bolt holes to see if there is an airway there or it's closed off. Thanks.

OK so i need a twin pop, can anyone tell me which to go for and why? Oh yes and where to buy iy from? Are there any benefits to running a dual MAF setup? Regards, alex

I am just about to put new front brake pads in, and rebuild the calipers. The manual talks about bleeding the abs unit as well as each caliper, is this necessary ? if so, where is this abs unit that I bleed ? Thanks John

good news the zed is up and running again , turned out i had fried the KPH to MPH convertor when powering back up after fitting the indiglo dials , :xxx: , fitted the spare unit after blowing off the dust and cobwebs and all is back to normal :hyper: for any others that have problems , wiring is red ( positive 12 v feed ) green ( earth ) yellow ( KPH speed signal in ) blue ( MPH speed signal out ) speed signal in back of dash yellow/ green stripe speed signal out back of dash yellow/ blue stripe steve

hi everyone, ive just bought a Jwt twinpop charger for my TT, is it just a simple case of fitting it to my standard zed (except straight through exhaust) or do i need to alter fueling or anything else??? also on the fitting instructions, you recieve a restricter t-piece for MAS side so it ticks over smooth, but on the diagrams it shows it being plummed in to the bottom of the standard recirc (tapping a right angle piece in) but I have the HKS blow off valves up at the top of the engine, where do I plumb the hose in??? thanks, Jim

Had a very broken thigh bone for the past 8 weeks so not been in the zed much. 3 days ago the doc said i could start driving again :hyper: . Today gave it a bit overtaking a learner car it was fine and got home and it was still fine. 1 Hour later came to turn it on and it sounded sh1t, tried driving it but after about a mile it sounded as if it was on only 5 cylinders. ECU diag gives 55, no smoke on boost or idle at all, but when i checked the plugs one had oil on it. :nono: Is this a sign of a dodgy valve seal? :confused: If so is there anyone in the morecambe to preston area that could check/repair it as i'm not quite fit enough to take the engine apart…

Can anyone think of an ignition live in the eninge bay that is fairly near the battery ?

For the life of me I can not find the plug for my stock radiator. So unless I can get something quick, my car won't be going to the essex meet. :(. Anyone got a spare or know what I can use instead ?.

Hi! I wonder if there is any cooling of the power steering fluid on a 300ZX TT european mod.? Behind the radiator I can see the oil cooler, but just behind the oil cooler there is also a cooler...the cross section of this cooler is about 3cm x 3cm...What kind of cooler is this?? The one of mine is leaking and its smells like power steering fluid..! Egil

this is probably a stupid question, but here goes! my clutch is slipping under heavy load, and getting worse, b4 i go out and buy a new one i want to double check that there is nothing else it could be?

Please could someone give me some advice ive had my 300tt for 2.5 years its regularly serviced and looked after but ive noticed that im losing boost ill try to explain Uk auto running jwt stage 1 map Stage1 + apexi avcr Controller when off 0.45-0.47 A mode is set to 0.70 duty at 55% hits 0.69 B mode is set to 0.80 duty at 56% hits 0.70 was hitting 0.80 5-6 months ago Now before any one starts about boost leaks ive tried tighning clamps around pipes etc but cant find anything is there a easy way of detecting them some one also suggested it might be a sticky waste gate or is the avcr just sorting out the boost curve I still don’t really understand …

I have posted some messages earlier today in this forum and I still dont give up to find an answer!:) My 300ZX TT is leaking transmission oil in front of the car just behind the radiator...from where do this oil come..? Is it possible that the european 300ZX has an transmission cooler in front instead of a oil cooler...? The car has manual gear! Egil

Can someone tell me what has happened to my clutch, my clutch pedal has got no pressure against my foot when i push. Which in turn does not let me put it into any gear. The past couple of days it was starting to crunch slightly when selecting some gears but this was not constant. Any ideas? If so where do i get the parts i need?

As a follow on from the cracked leather thread,heres some more info on what I done. The main bolster was well worn,so I swapped it with the leather from the inside of the lower seat which is hidden by the tunnel.50p for button thread :) Then rubbed the appropriate coloured dye ( a quid ) over the whole seats and rubbed with auto-glym cream leather polish. place all you tips in here for people to share. I will post more tips Ive found as we go along. (Thanks to steve-o for hosting the pics ) heres the before and after seat pics..

My zed has failed its mot today and I'm gutted!!! I'm from Newcastle but my work takes me away to Scotland so my wife had the job of taking my car for its mot, The failure sheet states that my car has failed on; o/s front fuel pipe leaking, rear steering rack leaking fluid, rear steering rack has excess free play, n/s front small brake pipe corroded to excess, n/s front main brake pipe corroded to excess, it also states that the o/s rear anti roll bar link arm is snapped, this is the 1st time I've mot'ed the car since I bought it (less then a year ago) I've looked on the car at (what I think is the anti roll bar arm) and it looks as though the previous owner just…

Hi! My 300ZX TT is leaking oil in the front just behind the radiator. Someone told me that this might be the oil cooler...., but it seems to me that the oil smells like transmission oil..its also red and cold..The oil that passes through the oil cooler got to be engine oil?? Or am I totaly wrong? From where do this transmission oil come..? :confused: Egil

does anyone know the wiring connections for the speedo convertor on the back of the gauge pod for KPH to MPH conversion , are there any links to show how to fit a speed convertor to the correct terminals ? cheers people Steve :cool:
