November 02, I decided to buy an uprated Clutch because the standard one was slipping like a bitch! Anyway, at the time, I was organizing a group buy for some nice Z pedals and the guy mentioned that he did clutches so after agreeing on a price,I went for the RPS Street Racer clutch which apparently could take up to 450BHP. :xxx: Therefore, as I was not intending on taking the Z up to that much, it seemed like the ideal choice. However, some of you may have read thread that I posted about me wasting a Megane Turbo, well after that venture, I could not chance gear and ended being stuck up a hill on a set of lights. Anyway, I cut to the chase. After assum…

Here's a question for all you knowledgeable types out there, it looks like my 300 twin turbo, that I bought in good faith, was a very poorly repaired insurance write-off, and muggings here thought he was dealing with a genuine enthusiast when he bought it. It turns out that the damage to my car since hitting a kerb may have been a blessing in disguise because the n/s chassis leg had been replaced, and not very well. So, getting round to my question, I have been offered a 300zx non-turbo, reasonably cheap, and considering swapping my engine, etc, into the non-turbo. Can this be done? Has it been done? what sort of works involved? At the moment it seems a bank loans out of …

Hi guyes, engine is out, crank is off and gone for regrind etc couple of q's 1. Is there anything else worth checking, replacing while its out? So far Im guessing clutch and light flywheel seeing as they had to come off, turbos seem fine wastes open, no play in shaft etc or scoring on housing (on blade has a tiny tiny dint it in, i guess something found its way in there. 2. Where can I get new main bearings from that will allow a regrind? ive got big ends but not mains :( 3. Where can I get a new (or working 2nd hand) oil pump and crank sprocket? i think oil pump is shot (cause of the ends going??) and bured a couple of the teeth on the sprocket when…

Thinking of removing the aircon stuff before putting the engine back in. Still can't decide if I'll miss it but it's less to go wrong and possibly a bit of extra power/weight saving  Do you need to plug any holes that are left in the bulkhead/heater system?

Do you think benefit would be had by removing the spare wheel, having a dribble of petrol not a full tank, and removing the rear seats, in terms of launching the car up a 1/4 mile strip? The back of the rear seat weighs a lot, as does the spare wheel, and I guess petrol weighs near 1kg per litre. I reckon these would total over 60kg. Now would the reduced weight over the rears benefit the car or would it reduce grip enough to make it not worth it over a 1/4 mile? I guess something like letting a little pressure out of the rears might help improve grip ;) Cheers Pete

Hi guys, Having a pretty sh*t time at the moment. My auto gearbox has just given up the ghost, with no drive provided in either direction. Any advice of possible cause, or how best to cure ( no manual suggestions please ( pretty please)), or even someone who might be able to do the job for me. Fairly desperate as I need a car at the moment so if you have any ideas please advise. Smithy and Dan I have sent you both pms. Many thanks for reading, Simon. :( :(

I had a hicas leak that now has been fixed, however I now have this very interesting whirring noise coming from the area of the power steering pump / alternator. It can be heard in the cabin as well. I am reasonably sure that because of the leak the steering pump is going. I haven't diagnosed the exact problem yet but it sounds like it could be the pump. Does anyone know how long it would take a good mechanic to change the power steering pump? and if neccessary the alternator? Cheers Chris

After fitting a HKS EVC 3 (Thanks again John), Im wondering whether I can run a little more boost. Before I fitted my boost guage sat at 14-15psi with boost jets. The HKS EVC3 in LOW mode sets a max of 1 bar but this does not take my boost guage above 10psi. I appreciate my guage may not be calibrated if before It was running and showing 15psi then can I push my boost up into the HIGH on the EVC and try and get the same without any problems? Does anyone PLEASE have a instruction manual for this controller or can tell me what settings they are running? MAny many MANY thanks

Hi Guys after removing my PRVR's and my AIV's I now have low vaccum. I used to have -20 ish at idle but now I'm down to -14ish. Is this right ?. I thought this was down to boost leaks with the new Greddy IC's but after fixing these I'm still sitting at -14. Any ideas ?

I recently posted a question regarding the odometer ''jamming'' well i have it out and i just cant see what could jam it? - its very clean and seems fine. i have read this artical: http://www.angelfire.com/geek/vg30dett/Cluster/Fix_Cluster.htm But the difference between his and mine is mine has ''tamper proof'' screws and a big chunk of metal stopping you gaining access to the motor worm gear!! (see pic) Any ideas on how to get these screws out, or any advice on this matter? Thanks Tom
