General Discussions - 300ZX Related

looking at new rims that are the following size. Front 18x8.5 ET40 & Rear 18x9.5 ET45 (5x114.3) I want to know what size spacers I need to improve the stance a little. I am thinking 10mm front and 5mm rear. Also recommendations for the make of spacer please.

Well got some weird results..... Back of engine...... Drivers side Passenger side 6 = 172...../.....3 = 162 5 = 170...../.....2 = 162 4 = 162...../.....1 = 162 Front of engine....... Cylinder 6 was at 180 as it was first one I tested cylinder 5 was at 172 second one tested...... I went back after testing passenger side bank just to be sure and they came out as above, a bit lower...... haven't used tester in a while so retested to make sure nothing was wrong with it...... This friday i've bought a mint 300zx TT from an elder man near my city, she is perfect, low mileage, always serviced and garaged and he wanted really little money. She only have a little electronic problem. The elder man, told me that the dash have a failing electronic board, but he wasnt able to find a replacement. The things that dont work properly are: Odometer, Hicas, Cruise control, Econ, Mileage counter and sometime the power steering stop working for some minutes. Hi all, recently installed HIDs onto my car but found them dangerously dim when driving in the country (which is where i do the majority of my driving) Found the standard bulbs were bad but these are shocking. I Know its difficult to diagnose a ruff engine when you cant see it or hear it! Last week for no reason car started but was running ruff on idle. Set off engine seems to vibrate but goes & less vibration when foot off the gas. Took it for a run Sunday starts no problem still running ruff no missfires. bangs or rattles. Put foot down, no kick down just a steady pick up of speed, like running on 5/4 cylinders? Back home no smoke from exhausts just the same running unsteady, no just ruff!! at a 1000RPM no rise or fall. No cooling problems no wiffs or puffs of smoke, oil pressure water temp all ok? My car is a 1990 NA jap import. It was an auto, but the previous owner converted it to a manual. There are a few things that are strange: 1) When starting the car (hot or cold) the power light on the dash flashes on and off and the car revs its self for about 10 sec. Seems to rev between 2-4000 rpm. (kinda annoying because people think im sitting in it reving it to show off :blink:) 2) Tick-over when cold seems to be about 2100 rpm which with my exhausts is really loud in queuing traffic! tick-over when warm seems to be 1500-1750 rpm. If I change the turbo seals over one do I need to have the turbo balanced or are thay good to go and two when bolting down should thay be torgue down or just tightened down

I saw a breaker on ebay in a local scrappy so went to have a look for door top trims.......no luck there they were damaged and painted badly however the interior looks to have had an expensive retrim and no too long ago all the leather is in top condition.The back seats are trimmed to match with white embroidered z logos and look unmarked the door cards will need some attention. I was certain that I would fit this to my car when I had it painted but a few weeks before I had a change of heart. I love the look from directly behind the car, but from some angles I find it looks too aftermarket and a bit too bulky. It kind of goes against the grain for my tastes. Hi all, quick question, what size of blanks would i need for taking out the recirc valves?

Whats up My 300zxTT starts up pretty bad, turns over fine but misfires until properly warmed up, if i give any throttle, when i let off the revs will die down and then cut out. if i try to pull off it will usually stall, and the turbos wont kick in until properly warm. any suggestions on how to smooth this out or if its a symptom of some issue. I'm also looking for seal kits for my turbos as both are leaking and causing some pretty crazy smoke, its a jap import so im assuming it has the bigger jap turbos and i haven't had much luck searching for them, if anyone knows where i can find them. Hi guys.. Long time since I was on the computer lol.. Just renewed my insurance for my 89"swb imported 300 slicktop.... Missed the renewal through an expired credit card thank goodness. Last years insurance company who we see advertising a specialist product for our cars quoted me £530.... Ten minutes of my time got the same product with agreed valuation for £150....!!!!! Got me right in a flux it did.....!! Pays to shop around I would think... Happy Xmas to all......

Hey guys just been on the phone to fluxdirect for a provisional quote for my car when built none of the insurance companies they use would insure me and they got one quote in for me for £3500 :( I'm no way paying that I have lost my ncb due to accident in june so back to square 1 but have fully comp on my daily drive and have one conviction on my licence but £3500 is takin the piss, give me a full list please and i can sit on my next free day and ring round.

Well I took her out yesterday for a spin and she was running a bit strangely....... didn't feel like she had any power when she had warmed up to running temp..... I bound a nice straight bit of quiet road and floored her....... felt like an NA with no kick from the turbo's at all..... I then noticed no heat from the vents.... well slightly warm but not hot like she usually is....... Temp gauge was at middle on stock gauge...... So carefully drove her home..... Does anyone know how much I should expect to get for a Mines ECU that was fitted to my Z, I plan to get my car booked in with Noz in the new year for a rolling road session and so need to replace with a stock ecu., and wondering if its going to be worth selling? Thanks, Dan
