I am in the early stages of planning to retrim my dash/doorcards/etc. myself but am unsure how much fabric I'm gonna need. The basic design will stay the same, but everything tweed will be replaced with one type of fabric, and everything else with something else (not telling what yet ;)). So, has anyone done this, or does anyone have retrim experience and can tell me how much square footage of fabric I'll need? (not seats though - haven't decided what to do woth them yet!) Answers on a postcard please :D

I have a spare plenum which i have finally got round to polishing. Inside, it is full of years of oily mess. Is it worth cleaning this out, and if so whats the best way to do it?

Had some trouble with tickover and hesitation from cold. Now I have replaced all of the injector connectors and coil connectors, but now when I'm on the motorway at around 3000rpm car seems to have a slight jerk/hesitation even when warm, what could this be? I also messed about with the Idle screw, could this have anything to do with it? One plus point tickover is nearly spot on now. :headvswal Gonna change all spark plugs over the weekend to see if this makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

this post in kinda related to the one below but sort of different. Anyway i've got my Ecu fitted and i'm suppose to only put Optimax, what about if i can't make it to a shell garage? Can i use something to compinsate on the add occasion to boost the octane or what ever or is running Optimax as much as a must as i get the impression. For argument sake on a long drive like on motorways where you can't be so picky as to what you fill up with what does everyone do?

What's a good price on a respray? It's black so aparantly more difficult to spray, there are a few nicks and dents in places, fibre glass wings already fitted, no spoiler (already removed) but back to metal, replaceing all trims which are supplied, fitting and spraying vented nose cone, and removing that bumpy stuff on the bumpers and side skirts. I'ts in the garage at the moment just curious what you guys think, i've explained i basicly want it looking showroom condition.

  16. Its a long story, but basically whilst waiting to get my car fitted with new bumper etc. I purchased some wheels and tyres. Then saw some others and bought them as well! I got my car back on Saturday and have just tried one set. They are 17 x 8.5 TSW 11 spoke with top rated tyres Avon 235 45 17 front and 255 40 17 at the rear, all are Y rated for 300kmph. They have travelled to Tesco's so have done 10 miles! I am going to try the others I purchased tomorrow to see which I prefer. These TSW's cost me £350 for the wheels and £580 for the tyres, £930. I know I will not get that back, but as they are all still new do you think I would get over£600 if I put them on eba…

Thinking about replacing my steering wheel with another standard one. I assume they all fit? Both have airbag and horn - no other controls. How easy are they to swap over? Bear in mind I'm a mechanical incompetent. Cheers gents

  18. Does anyone own the red z that was part of the legal cruise in southend last night. It obviously had a lot of money spent on it and was in very good condition but I cant remember the reg plate. Mine was parked about 100 yards down the road with the bonnet up!

i took me zed out saturday and all was well till i noticed the boost gauge was sat at zero,i took a look under bonnet and i had left a pipe off near the m/clyinder , which connected to the balance bar,now having connected the pipe, the gauge worked but then on return to home the engine started to smoke ( blizzard style ) only on tick over, i have just put on new recon turbo`s , p valve`s ,and serviced the motor, filter`s etc, when the engine tickover is ok no smoke but when the engine`s tickover get`s lumpy she start`s to smoke white stuff big time,i`m at a loss to know where or what is going on , is there a dodgy sensor/ valve, isa need some advice please

Anyone here I wonder? Can't remember exactly where it was - a bit past the M1 junctions I think on the M25, going anticlockwise at about 1.45am this (Sunday) morning.. middle aged fella.. in a dark coloured Z, J reg if memory serves. You wouldn't have seen me - I was the weirdo in the MR2 Roadster with the roof down (yes, at 1.45am :D ) that went past you.. Thought about beeping and waving, but then figured you'd just think I was some total loon
