The rear shocks on the Z have been on the verge of MOT failure for the last year - the rear end feels like its skipping out every time i go over a bump, one wheel is an inch lower than the other etc etc.... So just got a set of Koni Sport shocks, which should be here in a day or two hopefully. Anyway, while the car is in the air with its suspenders down, should I be thinking about a new all-round bushing kit? I see Energy suspension do a kit: http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/nis1.html - anyone had experience of this? Any help and/or experience with overhauling the suspension would be great. Cheers Simon. (p.s. Got a set of Blitz springs to go…

Firstly- I promise this is the last help I ask for before subscribing Second- I know sill rust is common, but has anyone had to go all the way back to the rear subframe mounts? Ive seen replacement outer panels and inner reinforcement panels but my rust is touching the panel that is behind the reinforcement panel, it is also touching the rear subframe mount. Even though the mount hasn't rusted through Im not happy about its structural integrity and Im thinking that the mount needs to be replaced. Has anyone had their rust go this far back and what did they do aboot it? Right now the only thing I can think of is to chop the whole side and underside out of a breaking…

Guys Anyone know the approx weight of a zeds engine? I need to know so I know which stand to buy, they seem to come in 2 main weight categories: 750lbs(340kg), 1000lbs(450kg) and 1500lbs(680kg). I am guessing the 1000lbs stand will do... Any ideas? TA

How important are those pink/red gaskets that sit on the top shock mountings ? Car currently on jacks while I fit my new suspensions, and discovered the original gaskets are all torn and now useless. What are they for, do I need to replace then, are they generic enough that nissan dealer would stock ? Thanks, David

...to work out what pressure each tyre should be run at, you add together the maximum weight each tyre will take (as printed on the side of the tyres) and divide the vehicle weight (with driver and fuel) by this number. The resulting number is then used to multiply the maximum psi or bar as printed on each tyre so that a factor of the maximum psi is achieved. ...is this correct. Sorry about the maths. thanks in advance to anyone who both knows if this is correct and can be bothered to answer. cheerz Jack

Anyone know how you stop auto bidding on an item? I have looked through my e-bay account and set up and cannot find how to stop the auto bid function, I no longer wish to bid on a vehicle that has two days left, there are other bidders and the auto bid system is raising the amount against the other bidders when I no longer want to continue ..any help appreciated. ok, so first it was the odd drip onto the exhaust causing some smoke through the middle, now i feel like ive lost a lot of power, pulling away from tickover its really losing it, and extremely lumpy, the engine 'sounds' ok though...and im getting that blown exhaust noise from the middle..bear in mind this is a relatively new exhaust system, the standard mongoose zed centre jobby... anyone ever had this? it sounds f**ked!

Hi all Hope u can help! Got a weird problem with the revs dropping from idle. If stationary with the revs at about 900rpm (normal idle), then touch the throttle, the revs drop back to 500rpm for just a second (as if its about to cut out) then alls normal again. Seems to happen once the car's upto normal running temperature. A similar thing happens if you back right off the throttle at speed, then accelerate again - the revs drop very slightly before rising as normal. This can be quite alarming when pulling onto roundabouts. I'm sure the fuel pump is noisier than normal too, although only audible from outside when the car's idling. Probably a red herri…

The zed engine seems to be full of connectors similar to the yellow one on the temp sensor. I can cope with that one as it's fairly accessable. Some of them are alomost impossible to reach. Is there a technique for dealing with the metal sprung clip bit on these to prevent breaking the connector ...or losing the metal clip ...or both!! Cheers David

Just been to the place to get it checked and re-gassed but looking at this ( http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=51782 ) I'll wait until we get a definite answer on the correct type to use. Anyway, they filled with nitrogen to check, and oh sh1t, it leaks somwhere. I didn't fancy paying 38 sqids an hour plus vat for some guy to try and find the leak who has never worked on a Z before, so, my question is, is there anyone out there who can help me find and fix a leak in my air con system ? Thanks Paul

Guys, Had it comfirmed today that the head gasket is knackered on my car, hence, losing coolant (not really surprising TBH, I have done every fooking thing else on my car, its the only weakness left). I can still drive the car for 70 miles, stop, bleed the cooling system, top up, and off I go. So, it'll be alright for the summer/weekends for now unless it goes pop in which case, hairy muff...... :) You'd probably be thinking 'why isnt he pi55ed off?', well that my friends is because I look at a negative situation as an opportunity! An opportunity to build a bullet proof engine! :D :smash: The plan is to get the engine out of the car toward the end of Se…

If I were to clear the rear lights 99 style, but do both the indicators and the brake/tail lights, and then use hyperbright LED bulbs for the stop/tail would this pass the MOT??? (I would use those chrome bulbs that flash amber for the indicators) Is it also correct that you have to have 2 red reflectors on the rear of the vehicle as well or could you get away with 1 ?? Thanks in advance chaps Phil

I have just had my (water) rad recored as I needed to be on the road in days and could not wait for a Koyo, and all was fine and dandy tooling around town for a few days. . . However on a journey of around 20 mile sit all went horribly wrong and the car overheated and cut out. I checked under the bonnet and the front of it was wet and I noticed the rad cap was different. on it says 0.9 which I have been assured by the garage and rad company is usual but I think I recall the original one saying 1.2 can anyone confirm this to me and if possible to add a pic of a genuine one so I can show them what has been lost - Cheers

Hi to all on here :) Sorry to barge in over here (I'm a S13 200sx owner) but I thought I'd be best coming to those who know. As you probably know the 300zx brakes are a great upgrade for the 200sx. The brake master cylinder in an important bit of this upgrade, but there appears to be several different versions (abs\non abs, and several piston sizes). Has anyone got any info on the types available and which models they were used on. Part numbers would be great. Also, once I know which BMC I need, where to purchase one from (new or used)? Any good 300zx part specialists? Many thanks in advance  Roger
