General Discussions - 300ZX Related

With tyres being a significant running cost, it would be handy to know which tyres last the longest. So if you have experience of running different makes of tyre on your Zed, which ones lasted longest for you? This isn't for grippiest or best looking or cheapest, just longevity - how many miles. Let me know if you want other makes added. This is prompted by going through my second set of Bridgestone S-03s in less than 9,000m when all my previous Brigestones (S-02, Potenza et al) lasted over 15,000m. So what do I replace them with? I've seen a lot on here recently regarding knackered autoboxes, so I wondered (as you do) who's had the highest mileage out of their origonal autobox.. And along with that (only applicable if you've had a failure, obviously), was it a pre or post '91 (which apparently had a revised auto for improved reliability)? Jap or UK? Aftermarket oil cooler? Oh, and how it died (I gather the most popular failure is losing anything above 2nd). I look forward to your tales of autobox woe :p

well when my hose going to the drivers side turbo split the other day i had to top uo with an awful lot of water, well this has to come out plain and simple. today i got given this little lot for nowt from one of my clients. ok for those of us (namely me) who havent got a fkn clue on flushing the coolant on me swb jap 2str. please fill me in.. oh.. you better make it real simple.. i mean if its not got a circuit board and needs electricity im fkd!!!!! :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

hey guys im new to owning a 300zx and i have a few questions hope everyone dosent assume me as stupid

My standard aerial wouldn't retract fully, no surprise there then, so i've got an autoleads electric aerial from a local motorfactors, i've wired it up as the original was but i can't get it to work, this is the second one so i don't think it's the unit itself. Has anyone else had the same problem? Thanks Baz

I just got a new boss to fit (genuine momo without hicas/cruise control support). I have removed steering wheel and the black unit behind it that has the sensors on for hicas etc. Is it safe to then fit the momo hub - it seems to bolt on very securely but the horn does not work - the ring on the back of the momo doesnt touch anything - I had to remove the enclosed unit (hicas sensor - im presuming) to fit the momo. Should I strip down the hicas control unit (the black bit behind the steering wheel) to try and join that to the momo for horn support? either way what do I do with the black hicas bit with the wires? do I just cut the wires? I disabled hicas a…

Is it possible to change a left hand drive Z into a right hand drive one, anyone ever done it or know someone who has? What would the cost be? This may seem a mad question but there is a reason. :hyper:

I feel quite dumb not knowing what the 'Turbo timer' is while reading forum posts and tutorials, so I just have the ask. What exactly is the turbo timer? :)

Hey, I'm just wondering what the Overdrive option in the Auto TT actually does? Also, the power option is self explanitory, but what does the hold selector do? 1 more question... There is a little bit of plastic in front of the 'gear stick' with an orange strip, what is it? hehe. Just trying to get to grips with all the gadgets in the zed :D

Hi, is the hicas on a skyline the same as a Z, I ask because Newera parts sell eliminators for £75.00 but are for Skylines. Anyone know?

oh dear more spending!! right then one seized engine and now my 11month olb new tubs one of them has end float ffs!! have just sent them off to turbo technics to have a look at them but i dont know if the warranty will pay for them :headvswal why am i thinking this :nelson: well last year yep the engine f@cked up on me and ruined the bearings in the tubs, turbo technics had a look on them under warranty and decided not to pay to fix them leaving me with a bill for £800 for new cores :nelson: so what do i say to them this time?? they dont smoke at all but there is end float in one of them!! any help much appreceated dewi.

Looking at a set of rims to potentially buy, they are 3 piece and one of the rims is bent (looks like it has hit a kerb or pot hole or something).. Can I get the rim straightened and fixed / is it safe getting this done or shall I not even consider this option. May be a good deal if I can fix the wheel safely (would rather pay more than have an unsafe wheel on the car). :confused:

Guys Is the top radiator hose 36mm ????? Wondered if I boiled up the hose it would expand enough to fit a 38mm sender adapter. Any thoughts or anyone tried this sort of thing before. Thanks Martin

the radiator is leaking a tiny bit. but the coolant is leaking very heavily u can practicly feel all the water u put :headvswal in comming out. im in the heathrow area.
