Guys My little van is having a problem. When driving the 'oil pressure' light is illuminated. There is no noticable difference in performance but I am just waiting for something to blow up or drop off. Help guys. What could be the cause and/or consequencies of driving it in this state. And of course any possible solutions. She's done a few KM!!!

Hi all I seem to have a prob everytime I start my 300 TT auto. She cuts out everytime I try to engage either reverse or drive. If I leave her to warm up in Neutral for 10 mins or so she seems fine except when I wheel lock to either the right or left. The revs seem a bit eratic at the above times. The other thing is that I sometimes have to have the ignition key turned for what seems minutes before she fires up. (Sparkplugs???) The chap that attempted to tune her when I first bought her said she is not firing on all cylinders, could that have something to do with it ??? One last thing..... can somebody please explain what ECU tests and PTU means. M…

Driving home from work tonight found I was in safety boost, then notised a LOUD tapping from the engine. Stopped and opened the bonnet and it sounds like a bloody diesel! :( Done ECU check and nothing. Code 55  Car idles and runs smooth and with all cylinders, just it keeps going into safety boost and that tapping is always there. Ideas?

Hello all, Im going to have a look at this car at the weekend. I have read the buyers guide & have scoured the site looking for problems & things to look out for. I have a couple of questions..... The car is G reg but apparently only has 40k on the clock.... I know some Jap cars have very low mileage but does this sound dodgy for a car of it's age? Apparently the car is near mint inside & out which would suggest low mileage... but is there anything I can do to check the mileage is genuine or any tell tale signs that its been clocked? The guy has been fantastic to be fair. The car is being Mot'd & he has admitted to a slight issue with the…

Currently have stock UK rims on my Jap TT and would like to know whats the maximum tyres size I can fit on the rims without creating major problems of rubbing on arches or turns. Currently have: Front 16x7.5J 225/50 16 Rear 16x8.5J 245/45 16 Basically trying to get wider tyres on these rims. Any help would greatly appreciated.

I know it is probably a silly question, but is it only the TT Zeds that get goose honk? I presume N/A cars don't have re-circs. Can someone just confirm this before I go and buy a new Apexi filter. Thanks, Mike...

Zed failed to start this morning but was OK last night. It has been playing up recently and was Green Flagged home through lack of fuel a couple of weeks ago. I purchased a new fuel pump relay and thought that was it. It has started and been OK excepting for a hessitation at about 3500rpm when pulling hard. Is it fuel starvation ?. When you switch on, should you be able to hear the fuel pump humming continually. This morning I listened for it purposely and there was a renowned silence. Does the pump need replacing. : :headvswal

Hello all I'm a newbie so firstly hi!! I may have the opportunity to swap my current car for a 300zx! It's a G reg TT Targa Auto... Low mileage & apparently excellent condition apart from the usual rear spoiler issues. It's silver, I have seen pics & have to say I'm not over keen but I have seen that many modded Zeds to know that the most important thing is to get a good un as I can "make" it look the way I want. So first question... SWB & LWB.... I have noticed that the one has the fuel cap in front & other behind the rear wheel. Any differences in terms of handling & how much shorter is the SWB car in length!? It's just that I'm wondering i…

When I tried another partition it says it's too small for the install and requires 1100 odd Mb??!!-errr...I'm lost! :(

My Z has now had de-cat pipes and everything backwards done in stainless, straight through. The mid and top range feel noticably faster but the car seems to me as though it is giving much more turbo lag, especially in second from low speeds. Is there a reason why this might be? I am going to get some extra silencers fitted as the car is too noisy, will this rectify the difference?

My car came with a remote start alarm fitted which is a good toy. It works fine everytime as long as the weather isnt too cold / cars been sat overnight. If its been saat overnite in cold weather then it just turns starts for a bit (hunts rpm which it never does normally) then stalls. I think it might be as the remote start keeps the igniton isolated (ie no power to fans radio, dial lights) that maybe the fuel rail isnt being presurised on remote start? but thats just a guess... Clearly i dont want to mess around with a cat 1 alarms wireing, so maybe just use the remote start in warmer weather or after recent drives but any advice / re-assurance im not going…

People, hope you can set things straight for me as I'm getting conflicting info from a couple of mechanics regarding a non-turbo 300zx that I'm looking at purchasing. The machine in question is a jap import and has done 72,000 miles. I asked the normal question of 'when was the cam belt changed' and have been told that for a non-turbo zed it's a 'cam chain' however, I've also been told (by another mechanic) that it's a cam belt. :headvswal The only sure way is I guess taking all the front off and having a look (which I don't think the present owner would be too happy about!), so any ideas - which is correct?
