ok, in an attempt to raise my boost to 15psi i just fitted some mig tips in place of my crap manual controllers. the tips were very small compared to the pipe they are fitted in, but i tried anyway, first the car would not boost above 12psi as normal, then both pipes came lose so they were both unattached......and my boost shot up to 20psi, yet they were not connected to anything, how the hell can this be?

As above, when i start to accelarate i hear a fast tapping noise coming from the engine. Also i still have the oil leak, andone got any ideas? Im about to fill the oil up again before i got out :headvswal

the TPS is giving a reading on the datascan so does this really matter for the running of the car?

Hi Guys I started a tread about this before, but I have more information now. My speedo doesn't tell me the correct speed I'm travelling, so I borrowed my mates SatNav yesterday and can confirm the following...... My Speedo is 10mph out, so when my speedo shows 30mph I'm actually doing 40pmh and when my speedo shows 50mph I'm doing 60mph etc. So does this just mean that the needle was put on in the wrong place? It's a Jap import with new dial. If this is the case then I just need to move it round right? Sounds easy, but there is a pin sticking out from the face of the dial which stops the needle falling down. So if I remove the needle isn't t…

Can any1 help every time i put any electrics on the battery dies on me how can i tell if its the battery or the alternator? when changing the belt on the alternator does the front section come of to get in at it? how hard a job is it to get in at the belts? thanks. Jay

Just thinking (as it's cheaper than buying) of replacing the turbos later this year.... Are there replacements i can buy that offer quicker spool up or even more power? Cost not sure as depends on how much better than stock they will be????

Hi I own a 1989 Fairlady. Up until very rececently it has been mechanically sound. Now it cuts out for some reason. At present I cant start it. Could be a switch somewhere. Can someone give me a number, I need to have it checked out. :bow:

Having had a full engine and gearbox rebuild, the only thing I can't guarentee is the state of my turbos. The seem so work fine, but I would rather get them rebuilt or exchanged before they go wrong. At least then I know everything on my car is spot on. What are my choices (turbo wise, as I everything else is covered) so I can get a reliable 450 bhp thats driveable and the power still come in at 3.5 - 4k rpm? Any ideas on fitted cost would be great too. Cheers.

first of all sorry for my english im french ;) I'm swapping a tt engine into a n/a car and i ran into a few problems This is my first project car and i dont know much about car mechanics, ive learn much since i started the project and solves a lot fo problems myself but now i need your help. My n/a car is a 95 L/H 5 spd My tt engine is from a 90-93 R/H auto mechanical issues the oil cooler mountings holes doesnt seems to fit anywhere where should it be mount (a pics would be appreciated) electrical issues on my 95 harness i have a connector that goes right next to the egr valve and i dont have this connection on my tt engine... …

Plenum is back on and it started first time and ticks over perfectly ! So basically, one of the injectors was blocked and it turns out that two of the others were in a right state too, so all have been cleaned, all the connectors for the injectors, AAC etc etc have been replaced, the throttle bodies bypassed, the EGR bypassed and other stuff I've probably forgotten. Anyway, MASSIVE thanks to KrysMayo who came over to give me a hand this afternoon and stayed for about 6 hours - we were so busy he didn't even get a cup of tea !

hi people, ive got a bit of a problem with my zed. basically once my car has warmed up and i take it out for a drive i start to get steam coming out of the footwells especially from the passenger side and if i put my put down then i get lots of water just blast out in the passenger footwell area which off course makes me turn the car back round home. ive been trying to locate what it might be but as there aint alot of space in the engine i cant see anything. ive got warranty on the whole engine so i am taking her back to the garage to get them to check it out.however i just wanted to know whether if any of you guys would know about this problem and point a parti…

mate phoned me yesterday afternoon and said he had done a quick test on the car but the guage he was using had a leak but looked as though one was giving a slightly lower reading than the rest,panic set in so was about to order a set of pistons on monday but thought we had better do the test again with a decent guage ,i picked up another guage this morning to confirm the engine is more fooked than it already is and did the test again.All cylinders came up exactly the same 75 psi !!!.something has to be wrong here because if 75 was the correct reading wouldnt the car not run at all and if it did there would be no power and running lke crap?im about to get the scrap man to …

Little advice needed guys. how do you measure the offset? Where do you measure to calculate the wheel width? Stumped on this and the alloys deffo don't have the sizes stamped on them anywhere. :confused: Cheers

1992 Twin Turbo import automatic from standstill sometimes when you first put your foot down, the revs completely drop and sounds like the engine's cutting out! any idea what this could be? ta. Jim.

Both stationary, one at low idle one slightly higher. I can see a lazy left O2 sensor, any comments on faults/good points much appreciated. Thanks David
