Hi all, Cars been running perfectly..no probs, wheni started it up to come home from work tonight i turned it over, and there was a lowd clunk sound - it mumbled a bit then started up..then drove home perfectly.. just wondered if anyone else has had this? What it might be? Thanks Ed

Yesterday I tried to start my Z for the first time since I switch a n/a to tt engine... The crank rotates, fuel is ok, coil pack sparks. but not a single explosion. Then I remember I swap the cam position sensor because of connector difference (1995-1990) I though maybe it is 180 degree off (the half shaft connecting on the cam) making it spark after the blow of the suck squish bang blow Can I play with the timming without damaging something when I start it??? Can I play with the timming while the engine runs??? Any other useful information on the timming??? Could it be something else???

Right, i'm going absoloutly mental. I'm sat @ work and have been told i need to find the following part (as mine is fooked on the car) what is it (i know it has something to do with the steering) where can i find one ... :headvswal :headvswal

Had some overheating last week and removed the rad and the shroud, it seems that the upper water pipe needs replacing doing that i noticed that the rad and and the engine had a lot of rust, it seems my mechaninc fill the car with water only and not antifreeze i will spray some water from the upper pipe to try to clean the engine a bit, but is there something else that i can pour in also?? cheers

just noticed a crack in the side wall on the rear .. and can only find one tyre place local to me that has 255 35 18's in stock and they are toyo t1s .. anyone ever used toyos as im usualy a bridgestone or goodyear man myself Cheerz guys

:( started car this morning and it sounds like the alternator?? (its the top left as your looking at engine from front - could possibly be power steering pump) or water pump bearings have gone. its gone from a rattle to a loud rattle with whining noises. If power steering pump then would it whine on standstill and not touching the steering? Im thinking alternator is at bottom of car. I checked the water levels and all were ok until I got to work and realised I hadnt put the cap on properly. Only lost about quarter of a litre of water though. topped up but noise is real loud now. gonna limp it home later what do you think it could be? …

has anybody tried to force draught cool their intercoolers ?? i read the Veyron has its intercoolers ( 4 of them ) cooled further by using fan assist does anybody think its worth while mounting some 12vdc fans behind the side mount intercoolers to suck air through the coolers , and if so what if any gains could be made , what are the figures for temp drop per degree / bhp ..any boffins out there ??? we all know when in summer the car does not perform as well as in spring and autumn as the air through the coolers is warmer ( less dense ) Steve

I have my no air con, wipers, clock problem again (see: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=70067&highlight=electrics+problem :rant: Garage tried to trace problem & told me if was the switches on dash control pod & they replaced the front switch plate on the pod. Anyway i have the problem again all of a sudden after about 1 month! Thought it maybe worth taking the pod front plate off & checking connections etc... Anyone know how to take the front switch plate off the dash pod? Cheers Barry

Debz na has developed a problem tonight. she could only get main beam, so i checked, and a fuse had blown, replaced it but blew again. i bridged the fuse to try and locate the problem with no luck she has no interior lights, no dipped lights. with the fuse bridged, the fogs came on fine, but as soon as i turned dipped lights on, the relay for the fogs started to buzz like mad, even with the fuse bridged, we had no interior lights, and no dipped lights. i changed every relay with no joy. im stumped for an answer

:cry: :cry: hi guys hopefully a quick fix. what happens if i find oil in the plenum. took off balance bar tonight to find oil in the holes of the plenum seems like quite a bit.. is this a valve or something sticking..????????????? really at my wits end as everything seems to be going wrong in my life at the moment so any good news would be great on this cheers gaz

Some alternators are without brushes or something..??..., I hope this isn't the case with the 300zx??

I swapped out my standard shocks but forgot to take some measurements (bumper height from ground, arch height from ground etc). The new shocks are on and look good, but I’m worried that it might be a bit lower than before. It was running 18” wheels so I guess that it was riding a little higher than standard before, so was wondering how much I could lower it without changing the parts of the suspension to adjustable versions? Many many thanks to my 300zx compadre Vance who after reading my plight on 300zx.co.uk came down and fixed my leaking pipe for me while I was at work today. Not a big job he tells me but not one I had time to do myself he also tells me he can help with the diagnosis on the autobox, its great to have such a helpfull bunch of hommies with such a vast knowlege of this marque on the site. ok i'm going to explain this as mechanically as possible... bearing in mind im a girl! AND IF ANYONE SAYS - girls shouldn't drive.... I'll smack u! :slap: Whenever i like stick my foot on the brakes, there is a funny noise like a creaking, rusty strain on an old rusty spring or like a fat ox walking on a floor board... its really creaky, and the harder i slam the brakes, the less noise, but when i do it slowly its loud and very creaky... the car has recently passed its MOT (in March) so i very much doubt its dodgy brakes, but who knows... is there some other part i should get checked out - could it be the pedal ?

Just an idea I'm toying with, but rather than go all-out on expense for a whole new front-end and potentially be forced into a respray thanks to faded 15-year old "black", I'm thinking of modding my stock front end. Has anyone else cut out the ribs on the intercooler ducts and meshed behind? Possibly have to mesh the main (rad) duct so it all looks right. I'm wondering if it would look any good. Black Zed in Stoney Stratford, Saturday afternoon ?

Ok, iv got my 300zx tt, but seeing as its in the body shop right now im just pacing about wondering what i should do with it when i get it back. I already have an aftermarket induction kit and an exhaust system on it and as far as i know the next steps to take are getting the boost turned up (electronic boost controller?) , 555cc injectors and then uprated intercoolers (ready for when i decide i want more power). Would that be the right direction to go in? And also am i going to need my ecu re-mapping after that lot? Oh yeah one last thing, roughly how much do you think it would cost me to get the parts supplied and fitted? Cheers for any help you can …
